UA Entrance Exams Part 2
Izuku and Ochako stood at the entrance of Ground A in silence as the group waited for the announcement to start the exam. The other examinees were all busy talking to their friends or trying to make new ones.
"Say Izuku, how easy do you think the exam would be?" Ochako asks.
"For us? Easier than our yearly physical exams, for them, moderate to high. Depending on their quirks and levels of training. They're robots that are probably armed with rubber bullets or airsoft bullets. We've handled far worst and based on the presentation earlier, the bullets are going to be much slower than real ones and far less accurate." Izuku answers. "But I'm more worried about the zero pointer or pointers."
"Because Mr. Mic told us not to worry about it?" Ochako asks.
"Yeah, that would mean it's either found everywhere, like tiny pesky robots made to hinder your every step." Izuku explains.
"Like those stupid ass drones from that one mission two years ago?" Ochako interrupts him.
"Possible. The other alternative is that it's something you should avoid because it's too big to be destroyed alone." Izuku adds.
"Hmmm... What if there's a secret point system for working together or something?" Ochako asks.
"It would make sense for them to have a big ass Godzilla sized robot for that." Izuku says as they hear the mic coming to life.
"Alright examinees!!!!!!!! Who's ready for the exam????" Mic announces in his usual cheery voice. Izuku and Ochako notice the door opening and quickly make their way to the entrance. The two look at each other and nod with Ochako smirking and Izuku's expression being hidden by his mask.
"Remember to always go Plus Ultra out there!!" Mic says, with Izuku and Ochako dashing out of the doors, leaving the others confused.
"HEY!!!!!" The other examinees shout, trying to call the two out for their cheating.
"What are you guys waiting for? Real battles don't have a countdown. Go!! GO!!! GOOOOO!!!!" Mic shouts as the students dash out.
Izuku and Ochako dashed off in different directions, both grabbing a light pole to make a makeshift staff for their use as they stabbed and ripped the robots that came their way. Denki and Fumikage were using a similar tactic in their grounds, with Fumikage opting for a more devastating and close combat option, as he turned the shred of metal from the broken robots and used them as makeshift claws and Denki using the whole light pole as a battering mace of sorts.
In the observation room
Mic sat back down sighing as the cameras started to show a few students here and there.
"Examinees number 1507, 2712, 2906 and 3010 seem to have grasped the concept of no countdowns pretty quickly." A man in a cowboy hat points out.
"But the others aren't that behind. I mean there is a gap of 10 points between the highest and the average score, but this is a 45-minute exam." A man wearing a black mask (?) adds.
"True. But I must say, I like the students this year." A woman says, licking her lips as she watches the blue-haired boy that had asked Mic a doubt earlier kick a robot from behind and destroy it.
"Not really, it's the same shit every damn year. Kids come in with their so-called powerful and destructive quirks and go about destroying robots for 15 minutes before the adrenaline fades and they get stuck avoiding and dodging attacks and dishing out weak ones." A black-haired, scruffy man wearing a grey scarf tiredly says. "The ones that make the cut are then quit by second-year or make it as sidekicks."
"But she is right, the students are strong and unique. I mean look at examinee number uhm...." Mic squints his eyes to see the tag on the examinee. "2208. Yeah! He's been out speeding the robots and using their joints to break them down." The screen changes to show a girl who had climbed onto the robot and was fiddling with the robot's metal panels
"You also have examinee number 1606 who's been sneaking past the sensors of the robots with her invisibility and turning them off from behind." A man wearing a large headpiece points out. 'Note to self. Make the switches more concealed in the future.' He thinks to himself as the screen changes once again, this time showing Bakugou using his quirk to explode a robot.
"This one here, examinee number 2004 has been simply blasting the robots all over the place. It's a simple strategy but it's effective." A frail man points out.
"It might be simple and effective but look at the collateral damage he's causing. And he's already tiring out with 20 minutes still remaining." A scarfed man tiredly points out. "The ones that are more interesting are these four." The man says as he changes to the screen to show Izuku, Ochako, Denki and Fumikage. "They have basically been using these poles and metal plates as makeshift weapons to fight for the past 15 minutes." They all notice Izuku grabbing a destroyed One-Pointer and using it as a shield to block the bullets from a three-pointer before tossing the one-pointer at it.
"Their moves also seem similar, almost as if they were trained by the same teacher or the more possible outcome, in the same form of martial art." A small chimera says standing on his chair.
"I don't think it's one form of martial arts, it's more like multiple forms, but it's difficult to tell from the cameras. The move that the girl used right now was definitely similar to a move from Wing Chun." The scarfed man says. "I want those four for round two and examinee number 1606. I want to see what they can do when fighting a seasoned fighter." He says as a student who was called for helping the teachers makes a note of this.
"Anyone else?" A chimera asks.
"Ooh, what about examinee numbers 0102 and 2805?" The woman asks.
"I'd like examinees 1305, 0212 and 1905." A man with an underbite and an X-shaped scar on his face says.
"Examinee number 0107. He seems to have a non-combative quirk but somehow has been avoiding all robots behind a group of students." Mic points out.
"Anyone else sir?" The student asks.
"I don't think so, I think you can go back home Togata, thanks for volunteering." The chimaera says as the student bows and was about to leave when he turns and faces the teachers once again.
"Sir, if I may. I'd like to voice my own opinions." Togata says.
"Sure, go ahead." The frail man answers.
"Examinee number 1507, since you're calling him for round two, would it be possible for me to fight him in hand-to-hand combat with no quirks?" The student asks.
"Unfortunately, no. But maybe later on, if he makes the cut." The scarfed man responds.
"Of course, sir. I'll be looking forward to that fight." The boy says before he bows and leaves.
"It seems Togata knows the boy." Mic speaks up.
"Either that or he's excited to see someone near his level of hand-to-hand skills." The chimaera says. "Also, Mic, I believe there are 5 minutes remaining."
"Oh right." Mic gets up from his seat and goes to the PA system mic. "HELLO, FOLKS!!!!!! Hope you're going plus ultra because there are 5 minutes remaining!!!!! Remember to make it count." He says before turning the system off.
The teachers all look at the chimaera expectantly.
"Gentlemen and lady, I believe it's time we let our titan lose." The chimaera says smiling like a maniac. "Power Loader, if you may."
"Of course, sir." The man with the weird helmet responds as he unlocks a big red button, giving the Chimera access to it.
The Chimera slams his foot down on the button as both grounds start to rumble simultaneously.
With Izuku, who had just stabbed and broken his 13th light pole while fending off a 3-pointer. "These light poles are really light quality. One good swing and they break." Izuku says pulling out another light pole from the ground. He breaks the top off and twists it to make a spear. "This should work for now."
Izuku was about to move to the next area for some points when the ground begins to rumble. "Looks like they released the Zero pointer." Izuku talks to himself as he rushes to see what it is.
He jumps onto a car, hopping onto a window with one hand holding his spear and the other holding the windowsill. Using his right arm, he pulls himself up to the floor, using it to jump over to the roof. Izuku runs over to the next building when he sees the robot in the distance.
"Looks like my second idea was right." Izuku thinks to himself as he turns around to find more robots to destroy when he notices a few examinees unable to escape from the giant robot. "Freaking civilians." He sighs as he jumps down from the roof. His arms spread wide as he ducks into a roll and lands in front of Ochako.
[The one at 0:27 seconds. You'll know which one.]
"Seriously? A superhero landing?" Ochako says, as Izuku looks up. "And you tell me I'm a diva for my extravagant moves."
"Shut up." Izuku sighs, slightly annoyed.
"So, the civies, you get the civies across the road, I'll get the ones here?" Ochako asks.
"Unfortunately, we don't have time for that. That thing will be here in a minute tops. We won't be able to save them all. We'll need to take down that thing and fast." Izuku says.
"So, what's the plan Squadron Leader?" Ochako asks with a determined look on her face.
