Sprisha against the world
Sasha had NOT been expected to be PUT IN THE BASEMENT.The only light in this basement was the damn mushroom, she didn’t even have a bed, just a sleeping bag.She let out an aggravated sigh before taking of her jacket, checking the pockets for anything. There was the bestie picture with Anne and Marcy and her…She felt a sharp emotion, she was missing them.
Anne would make a few dumb jokes and Marcy would’ve been talking about something in the background. Here, without them, it was too quiet.”Keep it together.”she muttered to herself.“I’ll find them soon…”The trap door that lead up to the main house opened.“Oh, hey.”Sasha greeted over to Sprig who jumped down.
“Heeey!”He exclaimed, hopping over to her.He sat right next to her.“Sooo, what are you look’in at?”He asked, looking at the picture.Sasha showed him the photo.“Are those your friends?”
Sasha nodded with a sigh.“…You wanna see if they’re out there?”Sprig offered, with a small smile.Sasha blinked at him before her brain immediately jumped on the idea, more eyes more land covered.“Actually yea!Let’s go!”Sasha agreed, getting up.
Sprig grinned.”Me and you!Finding…your other friends!”Sprig announced.Sasha noticed the way his voice dropped but she kept pushing. While going for the door she was stopped by Hop Pop.“Uh Uh.You two are staying here, the people of this town believe you’re a monster. They’d probably panic if we let you out the very next day as you pretty much defeating a mantis.”Hop Pop explained, crossing his arms.
Sasha raised an eyebrow. This old frog-man was NOT about to get in her way.So she turned on the charm.“Hey, we’ll only be the woods! The frogs usually stay in town right?I won’t bother them.I swear.”Sasha said innocently. But Hop Pop wasn’t buying it.“Sorry, but no.”Hop Pop said, walking over to the lock and locking it.
“Damn it.”She muttered as Hop Pop went right back up the stairs.“I knew that wasn’t gonna work.”Polly commented, Sasha had heard her name sometime yesterday.Sprig let out a sad sigh.“UGHH I’ma be so booored.”He groaned.“I’m not sure what you’re complaining about.”Polly told them with a smirk.Pointing to Sasha.“Your new friend is super strong.”
Sasha smirked.Polly was right!“I can!”She exclaimed, trying to summon the strength she had gotten from the mantis. She walked up to the door confidently and took the lock of the door.“WOOOH!It WORKED!”Sprig shouted, Sasha immediately gave him a look to hush that he didn’t catch on to.
But Polly lightly hit his arm.“Hop Pop can hear you.”Sprig shut and looked up at the ceiling.“Heh, sorryy.”Sasha checked the lock.“Hey…this was never locked.”She realized, before immediately looking over at the in shock.
“Does Hop Pop know the door never locked?!”Sasha asked, in horror.Polly stared at the lock in shock.“Wait so…the thing protecting us NEVER WORKED?”She exclaimed, staring at her.“We should probably tell Hop Pop about this.Polly you wanna come try and find Sasha’s friends?”Sprig asked his sibling excitedly.
“No.No thanks.”Polly responded, rubbing her flippers together with an evil grin.“I’ll be here.”Sprig nodded, looking a little worried before he turned back to Sasha.”Ready?”Sasha nodded with a smirk.Sasha ran after him. They went straight to the forest.”Hey,Sasha?”Sprig mumbled, a bit shyly.“Could we do a little friend thing?”
Sasha blinked at him.“What ‘friend’ thing?”She asked, tilting her head at him.“We create a friend name and do the fist thing we did at the log!”
“A fist bump?”She offered, a bit amused.“Yes!”Sprig nodded throughly.“I say Sprisha, you say against the word!”This was probably gonna make her cringe but it would probably deepen his loyalty.”Sprisha?”Sprig started grinning excitedly.
“Against the world.”She clenched her hand into a fist and offered the bump to him.He hit it with his tongue.“Gross.”While wondering the woods together, Sasha’s interest was immediately caught by a part of the worst that seemed dark and nightmare-y.
Like it seemed less alive and more dangerous, taking a step forward, she felt Sprig grab her arm.“That’s the toad lands.”He said to her worriedly.Sasha looked back to the woods.”Okay…fine.”Sasha decided. The two ran around the woods , finding this huge dip in the ground.“Ooo!The ditch!”Sprig exclaimed, sliding down the steep wall.
At the bottom of the ditch, Sprig motion her to follow.“Ehhh…my friends are clearly not in there.”Sasha called down to him.“Well, we can still have fun!”Sprig shouted up to her.“Come on!”Sasha rolled her eyes before going down at him.The steep wall was a bit difficult since there were rocks and weeds.
The crater in the ground was home to only a bit of land, there was water and large willow trees, and mushrooms.”This place is kinda cool.”Sasha told Sprig with a smirk.Sprig grinned at her excitedly.“This is a pretty nice spot.”He said, leaning over the lake.“But you shouldn’t go into the water-“
“WOOOOH!”Sasha yelled, jumping into water.Sasha didn’t hear him as her ears were flooded with water.”SASHA!There are river lampreys in there!”Sasha looked at him confused.“What are river lampreys?”She asked, before feeling something biting onto her leg.
“Uh oh..”She felt it pull her under, she saw a creature with fins and a nightmare mouth. She could feel the air slowly leaving her lungs as it fulled her even further under the water. There was another splash probably from Sprig. She continuously kicked the thing, than decided to go for the damn eyes because she was WAAY to young to die.
The thing let her go with a water logged screech. She swam frantically for the surface and Sprig coming to help her go back. But than ANOTHER one came for BOTH of them. This one opened it’s mouth to eat Sprig, and she may or may not have been getting attached, so she smacked it even harder.
She tried to get it away from him and so it went for her instead.Clamping down on her leg painfully. She kicked it with her right leg and it took her damn shoe but her socks were going to be soaking wet either way and the shoe was a good enough sacrifice. She paddled up with Sprig by her side.On the surface, they scrambled onto the muddy land.
Sprig was heavily breathing beside her.”Why is everything trying to kill us.”Sasha asked to Sprig. She moved a wet part of her hair out of her way. After a few moments…THE THING CAME OUT AFTER THEM!It jumped to the surface and slithered toward her.
Sprig jumped to action, shooting the thing away with his sling shot.It immediately slithered back to the lake’s depths.“I think this just gave me a crippling fear of water.”Sasha joked mildly to Sprig.Who turned back to her with a grin.“THAT WAS AWESOME!”Sasha blinked at him in confusion.
“We just had a near death experience.”Sasha explained.“Friendship goals.”Sprig said, grinning.“You’re weird.”Sasha teased with a grin.“Thanks.”Sprig agreed.Than two hell-hedgehogs jumped down from the woods.Causing the two to scream.“WHY ARE THERE MORE?!”She shouted out before, picking Sprig, and ran for the hills.
Or in this case up on of the surrounding steep walls that lead back to the forest. The giant grey-brown hedgehogs had a difficult time getting up the steep wall and so Sasha let him down.Sprig looked down from the top and slowly turned to her with grin.“Sprisha?”
“Against the world.”Sasha offered her fist, honestly. She felt a little bad for planning to use him.“Sprig?”
“Yea?”He’s face was so excited.”You’re pretty great.”Sasha said approvingly.”And YOU are a great friend. Now let’s go home before they get up here.”
