The Winter Soldier and the Queen of the Moon [SailorBucky]

It was 1942 the United States entered the Second World War: James "Bucky" Barnes and Maeve Jamie Kirk were called to the front. The first, a sergeant, was assigned to the 107th Regiment, while Maeve worked as an Agent for the Strategic Scientific Reserve thanks to her advanced scientific knowledge, as well as working alongside Peggy Carter with whom she had formed a solid friendship. Maeve she was best friends with Howard Stark, with whom she had grown up and who she had happily reunited with when she took  up service.

The two flirted amiably at work, but Howard knew the girl was secretly married to Bucky; the man outside the home, maintained his reputation as an unrepentant womanizer. He didn't want to give rise to rumors that either of them got the job through recommendations, since that wasn't the case. Maeve knew that flirting with other women wasn't easy for her husband, but right now they preferred not to let their co-workers know about their relationship. The only two who knew about the situation, besides the bosses, were Howard Stark and Peggy Carter.

«You have to explain to me how you can handle all those women hanging around him.» Howard joked to Maeve, one afternoon while they were on break, putting his arm around her shoulders

«It's not easy, but it's enough to know that he comes home to me every day.» she smiled.

«Well, you could take revenge and give him tit-for-tat: show up with me and make him angry.»

«Howard, you know that's not possible and I don't think it would work. Bucky knows we've been friends for a lifetime.» she said giving him a gentle push.

«I know I know. It's different for you women and even more so for you, I haven't forgotten, Maeve. You would not be well regarded as a ruler if you betray your prince consort, especially if you do it with one with a bad reputation like yours truly... my dear Serenity. Your secret is safe with me, always remember that.» he said speaking very softly and she gave him a light kiss on the cheek.

Howard although he had promised not to talk about it in public and normally he did; however Howard when he was in a good mood tended to talk too much and made Maeve uncomfortable about her: the girl feared that because of her friend's contagious cheerfulness someone would discover her secret. She didn't want anyone to find out that she was actually the eldest and rightful heir to the throne of the Moon Kingdom: the Silver Crystal had always been a problem and she knew that Hydra was looking for it to upgrade their weapon. For now the Nazis had the Tesseract, but Maeve claimed it was an unstable power source.

«Hey, Maeve, is Howard pestering again? You should send him to hell and hope your husband doesn't cause Howard great trouble» said the brunette joining them.

«I love the risk. By the way, did you tell him that you will participate in the Expo as my valet?» Howard said with a chuckle.

«That's true, especially considering Bucky could knock him down with a single shove. No, I didn't tell him and I'm not technically your valet, Howie. I attend as… your assistant.» Maeve answered with a chuckle.

«I'm afraid you're right, I'm not good at fighting. Don't call me Howie please, we've been past ten a long time. Let's go before the upper management thinks we're slackers.» Howard said and the three got back to work.

Actually, Bucky and Maeve were hiding another secret, in addition to the marriage: Maeve was the reincarnation of the princess and heir to the throne of the Moon Kingdom, a role she had happily resumed; while Bucky was the reincarnation of the last prince of the now-forgotten Earth Kingdom. They had recovered their memories of their previous lives and shortly before the outbreak of the Second World War, they had also married on the Moon Kingdom, consequently starting their official engagements on the Moon as Princess and Prince consort. Thanks to this marriage, a glimmer of thaw had opened between the Government of the United States and the Kingdom of the Moon itself, which re-established relations.

When enlistments opened on Earth, Bucky was called back to the front and Maeve was contacted by the Strategic Scientific Reserve who knew her story. They knew that she had been Sailor Moon, her friends and her warrior "colleagues" were the princesses of the inner solar system, as well as her bodyguards. They asked if they had an interest in participating in the war and protecting Earth as she had done in the past: Serenity said that her friends had vowed to protect her on the battlefield, but if she remained in the background, she would not have to ask for the their support.

«I'd rather stay in the rear. In any case, I do not speak to my husband and let you know: we have duties to my home planet as well.»

«Of course princess, we understand that. He knows where to contact me, but he let me know ASAP. Regards, Sergeant Barnes.» said the general from the other side.

This put the two spouses and their loyalty to the test: the Kingdom of the Moon needed their presence at that moment although it was not formally requested; while the United States government asked to protect the Earth from a conflict that could end the lives of human beings.
