Ashley's POV
I went down to Jim and Linda's house at around five, to see if there was anything I could do to help with dinner. I met Quin's father, Peter, and he told me that he had everything under control. As well as asking me if my kids had any food preferences or allergies. I told him no and then I went back up to the Hearth.
When I got back to the Hearth Dave was playing his guitar while Claire was singing "Surface Pressure" from Encanto. I looked over at Quin, who was watching Claire and Dave in awe. I sat down next to Quin.
"Do you like to sing?" I asked. Quin just shrugged her shoulders.
"I don't really know. I've never sung before," she said.
"You should try," Claire chirped, "I bet you're really good." Quin just stared at Claire with a mixture of confusion and fear in her eyes. "Have you seen Encanto?" Claire asked. Quin shook her head. Claire turned to me and Dave in shock and then said, "Really? You have to see it! Do you think we can watch it tonight?" I laughed to myself. Claire only met this girl today and was already asking her to watch a movie.
"Sure" I responded, "As long as it's okay with Quin's parents." Claire jumped off the couch and ran over to Quin, pulling her into a very tight hug. Dave and I smiled, seeing how much love Claire had for this girl even though they had just met.
Claire stopped hugging Quin and turned to me and Dave.
"Do you think we can have a sleepover?" Claire practical screamed as she bounced up and down. I glanced over at Dave and then turned back to Claire.
"Let me talk to Quin's parents about it," I responded, "Okay?"
"Okay!" Claire turned to Quin, "What do you want to do? We could draw, sing, play music!"
"I know how to play the piano" Quin murmured.
"Really? What do you know how to play?" Claire said. Joy practically radiated off of her. Quin just shrugged her shoulders.
"I don't know. Anything really."
"Will you play something for me?" Claire asked.
"Sure" Quin responded reluctantly, "What do you like?"
"I love Disney and Harry Potter."
"Okay" Quin sat down at the keyboard and started to play the Harry Potter theme song.
"That is soo cool!" Claire exclaimed. Bouncing up and down once again.
"Do you know how to read sheet music?" Dave asked. Quin turned and nodded in response.
"That's awesome" Dave responded. I could tell he was trying to give Quin a confidence boost since she seemed so shy and nervous.
"Do you know how to play any other instruments?" I asked.
"Umm. Yes?"
"What instruments?" Claire asked.
"Umm. Guitar and ukulele." Dave smiled.
"We know a thing or two about guitars and ukuleles," Dave said. Quin gave Dave a questioning look before she was interrupted by Claire.
"You should make a video with us!" Claire said as she bounced up and down with excitement. She must have a lot of energy today. Quin turned to me, her face was pure confusion. I kneeled down and looked at her.
"We have a youtube channel," I explained, "We make all sorts of videos, most of them are us making music."
"Oh," Quin replied quietly.
"We can watch Encanto together and then we can make an Encanto video!" Claire exclaimed, pulling Quin into another joyful hug.
"Only if Quin wants to," I say, "And if her parents are okay with it."
"I would like that," Quin says politely.
"Okay," I said glancing at my watch, "But now it's time for dinner."
