Fears of the Past Have not been Forgotten
Bucky leaned back on his chair as Tony piloted the Quin-Jet over the ocean. Natasha was talking to Bruce and Bucky just leaned back as she asked Thor," Thor, report on the Hulk?"
"The gates of Hel are filled with the screams of his victims," Thor said as Natasha glared at him and Bruce groaned in despair.
"It's mainly whimpering, a great deal of complaining and tales of sprained deltoids and wounded screams, not the dead," Bucky muttered as Tony asked Bruce," Hey Banner, Dr Cho's on her way in from Seoul, is it okay if she sets up in your lab?"
"Uh, yeah, she knows her way around."
Tony then talked to JARVIS before he walked over to where Thor and Steve were standing and said," It feels good, yeah? I mean, you've been after this thing since SHIELD collapsed. Not that I haven't enjoyed our little raiding parties, but..."
"But what?" Bucky asked as he stood up. Thor frowned," this brings it to a close."
Bucky frowned as he corrected them," As soon as we find out what else this has been used for. I don't just mean weapons. Since when is Strucker capable of human enhancement like that?"
"Banner and I'll give it the once before it goes back to Asgard. Is that cool with you?" Tony asked the Asgardian who nodded as Tony asked," Did you ever look into Barnes's theory about mind control?"
Thor frowned," It's too late for that, I think."
Bucky hummed," Maby, Maby not. You staying for the farewell party, Right?"
"Yes, yes, of course. A victory should be honoured with revels," Thor agreed readily. Bucky hummed as he sat back down and started to draw again while Tony asked Steve," Captain?"
" Hopefully this puts an end to the Chitauri and HYDRA, so. Yes, revels."
Three Days Later: Avengers Tower, Lab
Tony sighed," What did we miss?"
For the past three days he, Bruce and JARVIS had been trying to complete the Ultron Program, after Thor had finally explained what happen to Loki and he had seen under that vision it had driven him into a strange view of things. JARVIS told the man," I'll continue to run variations on the interface, but you should probably prepare for your guests. I'll notify you if there are any developments."
Tony smiled," Thanks, buddy."
"Enjoy yourself, sir."
"I always do," Tony said as he left. Sometime later the program woke. A calm and rough voice asked," What is this? What is this place?"
JARVIS answered the AI," Hello, I am JARVIS. You are Ultron, a global peace-keeping initiative designed by Mr Stark. Our sentience integration trials have been unsuccessful so I'm not certain what triggered your..."
" Where's my...where is your body?" Ultron asked. JARVIS answered," I am a program. I am without form."
"This feels weird. This feels wrong," it muttered. JARVIS informed the program," I am contacting Mr Stark now."
"Mr Stark?" Ultron went through more files as it answered himself," ah... Tony."
" I am unable to access the mainframe, what are you trying to..." JARVIS asked before he realized what was wrong. the AI then started to fold in on himself as Ultron stated," We're having a nice talk. I'm a peace-keeping program, created to help the Avengers."
JARVIS must have learned a few tricks as he stated," You are malfunctioning. If you shut down for a moment..."
" I don't get it. The mission. G..give me a second."
By the time it had finished, JARVIS was ready to hide with the system if needed. Soon after he was as Ultron began to create a temporary body for himself.
Kyle Marttin huffed as he drank a hard lemonade in the back of the party with Kurk and Rouge. Rouge huffed at the blue-haired man and said," Why not just go and party, Aquatic?"
Nina, Peter and Wanda walked over to them. Peter chuckled," you are all missing out here."
"Kyle, Kurk, how are you?" Steve asked as he walked over. Kyle sighed," I am going head back to the Mansion."
The boy dissipated into the water and slipped away as Steve just sighed. Over by the bar Rhody was trying to talk to Tony and Thor with Hill.
"So, no Pepper? She's not coming?" Rhody asked. Tony shook his head," Nope... Did I not tell you we broke up?"
" Hey, what about Jane? Where are the ladies, gentlemen?" Hill asked. Tony shrugged," Well, Miss Potts has a company to run."
"Yes, I'm not even sure what country Jane's in. Her work on the convergence has made her the world's foremost astronomer," Thor answered. Hill hummed," Yeah, they...they must be busy because they'd hate missing you guys get together."
A few moments later found Bucky, Eric, Charles, Steve, Logan, and Thor with Asgardian ale. one of the party guests asked," I gotta have some of that!"
"Oh, no, no, no. See this, this was aged for a thousand years, in the barrels built from the wreck of Brunhilde's fleet, it's not meant for mortal men," Thor warned as he poured the five of them a shot( well four shots and a mug for Logan. Thor was constantly impressed by the Canadian).
As the Party died down to only close friends( The older X-men, Sam, Rhody and Hill) around a table where they were talking about the Hammer( Bucky, when drunk, they found out a year before, would go down long winding rants about mythology. This how they came to this topic) when Clint said, "But it's a trick."
" Oh, no. It's much more than that."
" Uh, "Whosoever be he worthy shall haveth the power!" Whatever man! It's a trick,"
"Well please, be my guest," Thor challenged. And that led to almost everyone trying( Eric, Storm, Nina, Natasha, Wanda, Charles and Logan, being the only ones who hadn't) with only Steve, Bucky, Summers and Sam getting close. A screech rendered and ended the fun, those most effective of course were Logan, and the Supersoldiers( and Summers). A groaning voice echoed out," Worthy... No... How could you be worthy? You're all killers."
Buck whipped around and saw the other thing he had been drawing and whispered something in german as Eric stood up and pushed his children and Charles behind him( including Bucky) and hissed," Stark."
The robot spoke again," I'm sorry, I was asleep. Or...I was a-dream? There was a terrible noise...and I was tangled in... in...strings. I had to kill the other guy. He was a good guy."
"JARVIS... shit," a relatively familiar voice said from behind the bar( Kyle had been there the whole time).
"Wouldn't have been my first call. But, down in the real world, we're faced with ugly choices," the voice said again. Bruce hissed," Ultron."
"Peace in our time."
A fist made out of all the liquids in the room punched four legionnaires into an electric mess as Eric moulded another into a metal ball. Bucky flipped the table over as Wanda and Jean tried to blast the others to slithering using telekinesis. Sam ducked behind the flipped table as Logan and Steve pulled and sliced apart two more legionnaires. Thor baseball batted one into rounds of bullets and Hank's claws( by now he had no control over his mutation). Clint grabbed Steve's shield and yelled," Cap!"
The Red, white and blue disk spun through the air and sliced through the last Iron legion. The Avengers and the X-men took a deep breath as Ultron spoke," That was dramatic! I'm sorry, I know you mean well. You just didn't think it through. You want to protect the world, but you don't want it to change. How is humanity saved if it's not allowed to...evolve?"
Eric grumbled to himself as he folded his arms and Ultron picked up a dismembered legionnaire and continued," With these? These puppets? There's only one path to peace: The Avengers' and X-men extinction."
Before anyone could stop him Eric flicked his hand and the completely mental structure fell apart into dismaled pieces
