Amelie Stark - Confession
Amelie Stark - Confession
Loki had been just as surprised by our presents as I was to hear his confession. Clearly, he'd thought we were still in the dark about what had happened. The look of guilt in his eyes and the way his voice cracked made my heart sink. He stood waiting for me to respond, and I wanted desperately to offer him some form of comfort. A strong urge to console him welled up within me.
I strode towards him until our faces were almost touching, his expression a mix of fear and uncertainty about how I would react. Without saying a word, I threw my arms around Loki and embraced him tightly, pressing my head against his shoulder. I felt his arms fly away from me in shock but I held on tight.
I told him what I needed him to hear, that we could still be friends despite his past. He was still deserving of change.
When we pulled apart, he looked teary-eyed. “You knew?”
My heart broke a little more. Had anyone ever comforted this man? Had anyone taken the time to support him through his own grief?
After talking for a while longer, I put one hand on Loki’s shoulder. “It’s going to be okay. You’re safe here, safe to take the time and space you need to heal. I’ll help you however I can.”
Loki closed his eyes, nodding slightly. I gave his shoulder a squeeze before stepping back. “I’ll leave you to yourself for a bit. Make sure you get some rest.”
I turned to leave, picking up the empty boxes and packaging from Loki’s bed.
“Amelie, wait.”
I turned to Loki, locking eyes as we faced each other. A few moments passed as I waited for him to speak.
“Thank you.”
I smiled. “You’re welcome, Loki.” Turning to the door, I left, closing it quietly behind me.
Back in my room, I splashed water on my face before flopping down onto my bed. Whatever had prompted Loki to play the bad guy in the past, he was a shadow of that villain now.
I was determined to help him. Other people got their redemption, why couldn’t he?
My phone buzzed, pulling me out of my thoughts. I reached into my pocket, holding it above me as I read the message.
I smiled. This was exactly what Loki needed. Admittedly not what he would want, but it’d be good for him. I grinned to myself, opening the group chat to reply.
We were going to have an extra God at our next movie night.
