Baybur!

Wilbur never expected his idea to come to life. What started as a depression project developed into one of the greatest inventions in the world, and the brunette couldn't quite believe it.

Only Wilbur couldn't really show his invention to the world yet, because it was a little… far from perfection.

Wilbur created Baybur: a robot that attends to people's medical needs, identifying its patients by locating common pain indicators. And that also resembles Wilbur far too accurately. The man didn't even intend to do that, it just kind of happened.

For short, if you stub your toe in a chair, you'd rather stick to swearing because if you as much as say "Ow", your door will be banged down by Baybur - that is exactly why the robot was still a "personal" project. Quirks such as that needed fixing.

Wilbur had a little bit of difficulty in doing so, holding Baybur inside proving to be a little harder than he thought. He was unable to completely deactivate him because he needed the robot to be in function while perfecting it.

Only if Wilbur didn't live in a big city… People were basically injuring themselves every minute! Baybur was going crazy, trying to break out of the small apartment so he could go help those "poor people". Wilbur had a few words for those people... Humans have no spatial awareness these days! Stubbing their toes and banging their heads onto stuff all the time.

Wilbur actually thought he had his creation under control when he figured how to keep the robot in place, until one night when he forgot to put Baybur in his charger. The robot, finally free from Wilbur's tyrant dictatorship, broke out in search of his patient.

Baybur could see a blond boy laying in bed, clutching his stomach.

The robot had travelled all the way to the city's suburbs where all the houses were. Baybur had climbed into a tree, having a perfect insight into his patient's living environment. He needed to get in.

Getting closer, the robot tapped on the window, making the boy in agony jump. Lifting his head, he spotted the robot behind the glass. The robot waved.

"Hello, I am Baybur, your-"

The boy, eyes squinted to see outside, advanced towards the window and opened it, interrupting the robot.

"What- what were you saying? Sorry…"

"Hello, I am Baybur, your personal healthcare companion."

"Woah, sorry… man? Thing? You're not my personal healthcare whatever." With a shrug, he added: "You've got the wrong house."

The boy went to shut the window, but something was stopping it from closing. Looking down, he could see the glass repeatedly bumping into the robot's rubber arm.

"I will now scan you for injuries."

"What? No, no, you don't have permission to scan me-"

"Scan completed."

"Unbelievable…"

Baybur was now fully in the boy's room, his dull eyes staring at him. Rubbing his arm, the blond asked, "Okay, so… what is wrong with me then?"

"It seems like you suffer from dyspepsia. Or, to put it simply, an upset stomach." Baybur put his arms on the boy's shoulder, gently nudging him until he was sitting on the bed.  "The cause for your dyspepsia might be overeating, eating too quickly, too much caffeine, alcohol, chocolate or carbonated beverages-"

"I ate mud."

...

"Eating dirt can be dangerous because of the substances it contains. Soil may contain heavy metals, human waste, parasites, and other harmful substances. Ascariasis-"

"Okay! Okay, Baybur. I think I'll survive this one. You are not needed here, bye-"

"Thomas Craft, 13, prone to food sensitivities-"

"I really-" said Tommy while desperately pushing the robot away towards the window. "Don't need you to tell me about it. Just leave, alright?"

"Tommy?" A voice came from behind the bedroom door. "Is everything okay in there?"

"Shit. Shit shit shit- Please, Baybur, just leave!"

"I cannot deactivate until you say you are satisfied with your care."

"Baybur, I am so, so satisfied with the care, now scram-"

Just as Tommy pushed the robot out the window, the door to his bedroom swung open, revealing Tommy's dad, Techno, and a fuming Wilbur behind him.

"Tommy, why is this crazy man saying you've got his robot in your room?"

"Excuse me-"

"Oh, I don't know!" Said Tommy with a nervous laugh. "As you said, he's just a crazy man! … Why did you let him inside our house?"

Just as an awkward silence fell over the three people, Baybur's voice came through the open window. "B-ba-battery low… Goodbye."

"Baybur!" shouted Wilbur, rushing downstairs and outside the house. Tommy and Techno looked down from the window, seeing Wilbur gathering a slightly deflated robot in his arms. The man looked up, watery eyes shining in the moonlight, asking: "Can I borrow an outlet?"

The three gathered in the living room, Tommy and Techno sitting on a couch while the boy explained to his father why the robot was there in the first place.

"You ate mud?? Again??"

"C'mon, dad! It was only one time-"

"Yeah well, you have a history of eating things you're not supposed to."

"Dad… I didn't need you to say this while a stranger's sitting on our armchair..."

"Ah, don't worry. I used to eat sand."

"I am not allowing you near my son-"

"It was only a couple of times, though!"

"What was your name again?" questioned Tommy, a smile stretching from ear to ear.

"Wilbur. Wilbur Soot," said the man in question. "And you?"

"I'm Tommy! And I have a feeling we're going to get along really well!"

"Nope. I'm not permitting this!"

"Technoblade, right?" asked Wilbur. The other nodded. "Well, Techno, fuck off. You can't tell Tommy what to do."

"Actually, I can. He's my son."

Before the two men could start bickering over whether Wilbur would influence Tommy to eat more stuff he shouldn't, the blond shouted.

"Look! Baybur is waking up! I think that's what you call it, 'waking up', at least…"

The little group gathered around the robot, whose eyes slowly lit up. Upon focusing on the three, he waved.

 "Hello, I am Baybur, your-"

Before he could finish, Wilbur was hugging his robot, sinking into the soft material.

"-personal healthcare companion. Wilbur Soot, my scan shows an increased heart rate, which could cause you to-"

"Shut up. We're going home." Said Wilbur lovingly.

The man stepped outside the house, holding his robot's hand. Turning around to look at the other two, he waved, saying a last "thank you" and "sorry for letting my robot break into your house and harass your son".

Technoblade halfheartedly responded with a "don't worry about it", while Tommy excitedly announced that both of them were "welcomed to come back anytime". Technoblade gave an overly sweet smile, using the moment when Tommy went back inside to tell Wilbur that if he sees him around his house again, he will permanently deflate Baybur and Wilbur's heads.

He didn't think the man took it seriously, as he waved with a smile that matched Tommy's a few moments earlier, turning to go on his merry way, hand in hand with his robot. Just as they were about to finally leave his property, a car pulled up, its front lights falling on the pair.

Another blond man, a much older one, stuck his head out the car window.

"Oi mate! Who are you…?"

"Phil, ignore them, just come inside!"

"What?"

Technoblade ran up to the car, past Wilbur and Baybur, throwing the door open and dragging the older man out. "Phil, you really don't want to know. Your grandson will probably fill you in later but-"

"My scan shows multiple joint problems, probably caused by old age."

"I told you, Phil, hurry up!" The two men hurried inside, leaving the robot and its creator outside, in the dark.

"You need a lot of fixing, Baybur."

"My scan shows-"

"Yeah, I think that's enough for tonight." Tapping a spot on the robot's costume, a small card appeared, and upon Wilbur fully taking it out Baybur deflated, the man carefully picking him up.

Wilbur was on his way home, motivated to make Baybur better than ever.

In a few years, Baybur was finally done. But Wilbur would have been unable to fully perfect Baybur if it wasn't for Tommy, who secretly met up with the man, helping him out. They never really talked about the eating sand/mud thing, but they bonded nevertheless.

After the initial shock that Techno and Phil went through after finding out the two continued interacting, they gave Wilbur a chance. The four quickly became close, spending most of their time together, Baybur keeping them all safe and sound.

As the years passed, it was easy to mistake them for a weird, little family, ever more weirdly held together by the not-so-botchy health assistance. Techno and Tommy would often tease Wilbur for looking almost identical to Baybur, only their style differentiating the two, and Phil would try and defend Wilbur, just like a father would protect one of his kids from their sibling's/nephew's taunts.

Healthy and happy, they went on to live long, good lives. Baybur did not break into other people's houses again.
