Nat and Pepper
Natasha knocked firmly on the office door. "Come in!" she heard from inside. Natasha opened the door slowly and stepped inside. Pepper looked up from her desk. Upon seeing who it was, her eyes pinched a bit. She plastered a smile on her face and said, "Natalie, please have a seat!" Nat walked briskly to the leather chair opposite Pepper.
"It's Natasha, actually. And I just wanted to come...clear the air."
Pepper frowned. "There's nothing to clear up. You were just doing your job, and that was to help Tony. As long as you didn't steal company secrets, everything's alright to me."
Natasha leaned forward and shook her head. "That's not what I want to clear up. I just wanted to make sure that you know I'd never cross any boundaries with Tony."
Pepper swallowed. "It's alright if you did or you were supposed to, we weren't together at that point so there'd be nothing wrong with it."
Natasha shook her head again. "Nothing happened and nothing ever would or will. First of all, I'm not completely without morals. Anyone could see that you two were smitten with each other and I follow the Girl Code. Secondly, I'm very happily married, and I would never consider cheating on my wife. And that's the third thing, I'm a raging lesbian. I'm not attracted to Tony at all, and I would never be."
Pepper looked shocked at all the bombshells Natasha had just dropped. She sat back in her chair and took a second to process everything that Nat had said. Finally, she spoke. "And...your wife is okay with you taking missions like this? Where you have to flirt with people?"
Natasha laughed. "Of course she is, she knows that missions don't usually bleed into your private life. And anyway, she's the one who assigned me to this mission!"
