Summary
One-shots, drabbles, and outtakes relating to my story, take us down and we keep trying (40,000 feet keep flying), which is a found family Avengers/AoS story, covering season 1 of the show. These scenes take place before, during, and after that story and are not posted in chronological order, so every so often, I go back and organise them chronologically. If you see that there's a new chapter, but you've already read the numerically last chapter, it's probably because of that.take us down summary:S.H.I.E.L.D. has a way of causing its agents to band together and create their own families. The BUS team is not Melinda May or Phil Coulson’s first S.H.I.E.L.D. family. They already have one: a rag-tag family made out of an odd group of agents, Avengers, and Inhumans. The blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb, and a found family is just as powerful and influential as a biological one. This family has the potential to change the world, but can they do so for the better, or are they doomed to try and try, but keep the status quo?

Nat and Pepper

Natasha knocked firmly on the office door. "Come in!" she heard from inside. Natasha opened the door slowly and stepped inside. Pepper looked up from her desk. Upon seeing who it was, her eyes pinched a bit. She plastered a smile on her face and said, "Natalie, please have a seat!" Nat walked briskly to the leather chair opposite Pepper.

"It's Natasha, actually. And I just wanted to come...clear the air."

Pepper frowned. "There's nothing to clear up. You were just doing your job, and that was to help Tony. As long as you didn't steal company secrets, everything's alright to me."

Natasha leaned forward and shook her head. "That's not what I want to clear up. I just wanted to make sure that you know I'd never cross any boundaries with Tony."

Pepper swallowed. "It's alright if you did or you were supposed to, we weren't together at that point so there'd be nothing wrong with it."

Natasha shook her head again. "Nothing happened and nothing ever would or will. First of all, I'm not completely without morals. Anyone could see that you two were smitten with each other and I follow the Girl Code. Secondly, I'm very happily married, and I would never consider cheating on my wife. And that's the third thing, I'm a raging lesbian. I'm not attracted to Tony at all, and I would never be."

Pepper looked shocked at all the bombshells Natasha had just dropped. She sat back in her chair and took a second to process everything that Nat had said. Finally, she spoke. "And...your wife is okay with you taking missions like this? Where you have to flirt with people?"

Natasha laughed. "Of course she is, she knows that missions don't usually bleed into your private life. And anyway, she's the one who assigned me to this mission!"
