Jamie’s Moon Poem
😺 🌕
I’m on the moon. I’m really here on the moon.
🌖🌗🌘🌑🌒🌓🌔
I can’t smell it unless I bring in a handful of regolith to sniff. 😸
It smells dry and dusty and it makes my nose itch.
But I can bounce higher here than ever at home.
I can leap right over the top of our spaceship in a single bound. 🚀
I jump like a frog over The Frog. 🐸
Outside, wrapped in my spacesuit, I watch the sky. ⭐️
There are no clouds. And it’s as black as my pupils. 🌑
Once you get your eye in, you can see the stars. ✨
And they are quite a sight. Twinkling in a bright rainbow of colours. 🌈
But they are eclipsed by the rising Earth. 🌎🌍🌏
Half shadowed by the moon I’m standing on,
Half lit up by the golden sun. ☀️
I’d like to leap over there 😻
And curl up in the curve of its crescent. 🌙
Dangle my feet in its oceans.🌊
Stretch up my hand to gather some ice from the poles ❄️❄️❄️
and put it in my drink.🧊
The desert is warm against my back, making me sleepy.🏜️
Serene and still, I’d look back at the moon.
Wave at myself looking over at me.👋👋
You’re on a silver discoball. 🪩
I’m on a Christmas bauble.
