Chapter Two
The next day, Daisy was released from the infirmary.
"Daisy, let me help you," he said, as she struggled to sit up.
Daisy shook her head, a small smile forming on her lips.
"I've got this, Lincoln," she said. "I need a small little victory.
Lincoln nodded, knowing that he couldn't force her to accept his help. He watched as she slowly got out of bed, wincing in pain.
He wanted to do something to ease her discomfort, but he didn't know what.
Once she had sat up, he clapped.
“Wow,” He mimicked fake crying “You did it! I’m so proud.” he said, in a joking manner.
She scoffed. “Shut up.” She chuckled, rolling her eyes at her boyfriends antics.
He gave her a gentle smile and took her good hand. "Feeling better?" he asked.
Daisy nodded, feeling a sense of calm wash over her. "Thanks to you," she said. "I don't know what I would have done without you."
Lincoln squeezed her hand, his eyes full of emotion.
"I'll always be here for you, Daisy," he said. "We're a team, remember?"
Daisy smiled, feeling grateful for his- everything.
"Thank you again," she said. "For everything."
They walked together, side by side, back to her quarters. Daisy felt a sense of peace knowing that she had someone like Lincoln by her side. She knew that no matter what the future held, they would face it together.
Lincoln helped her into bed, making sure she was comfortable and had everything she needed.
She grabbed his arm and tugged it, letting him know she wanted him to join. He smiled, and got under the covers. She moved herself on top of him as shut her eyes, dozing off.
