Hunting Death Eaters
Cornelius Fudge was not a happy bunny. And that was because everyone else was not happy with him. True, he was a screw-up of the highest caliber. And certainly hasn’t been endearing himself to the majority of people. Certainly after the last fiasco with the Triwizard Tournament and unleashing the Dementors on Hogwarts again.
And now he was in front of Dumbledore, whom just gave his disappointed grandfatherly look, which was even worse then if he was angry. Reminded Fudge of his strict Grandmama. And someone from the ICW, a Japanese representative called Isamu Ozu whom was basically the Dumbledore of Japan; an aged, experienced, powerful and revered.
“Come on, Albus. Do we really need to involve the ICW?” Fudge said. The Tournament was a status booster for him, but he’d rather have as little to do with foreign policies as possible and that may be because he knew that the ICW would make a huge investigation in his Ministry if they did. “He is not even Supreme Mugwump, you are. And you were always against other countries interfering in our British politics.”
“I was. But it was because I felt it was my burden to clean up our community after two Dark Lords, and lead it to a better tomorrow. But I have recently learned that I have been doing too much things on my own. So I changed my mind. We are never too old to learn, Cornelius and Isamu is a trusted friend and skilled wizard whom I know will get things done. Not to mention he’ll succeed me as the Supreme Mugwump.” Dumbledore said.
“Please, you know what they’ll do…many old families will be incriminated and it will make our society fall apart without such pillars…” Fudge said.
“One, it is not nice to talk about me when I’m not here…” Isamu said. His lip movements didn’t match the sound, he was probably using a translation spell.
“My apologies, Isamu.” Dumbledore said. Fudge didn’t.
“Second, your ‘old families’ have shown a history of being Dark. No longer mere house arrest, we have to move the trials forward and we cannot take any more of your delays. And if they’re guilty, they will be punished. And if the society you create collapses…well, it needs to be built anew because there is a lot wrong with it. And you know it. You are afraid that if we prove you wrong and these ‘respectable families’ are terrorists, that you will look stupid for associating with them.” Isamu said sternly.
“True, it is a problem inherited by your predecessor, but even then it would have been your job to fix mistakes of past administrations. And despite everything you didn’t. I wish I could have done more about the likes of Malfoy and others like him from whispering in your ear.” Dumbledore said.
“Me and my family are going to lead the charge. You saw what they did at the trial of Mr. Black. They will be able to handle any of the others.” Isamu added.
“I was fine that they were hired muscle during such a trial, but I can’t abide that they…” Fudge said.
“Don’t dare fight me on this Fudge. You may not be willingly malicious, but you have been a fool, having your strings pulled by Dark Wizards and allow yourself to be bribed…” Isamu said.
“Those are donations! For good causes” Fudge replied.
“Like that solid gold toilet?” Albus noted.
“Who told you that?” Fudge asked.
“You have been bragging about it to everyone.” Dumbledore said.
“Oh yeah…” Fudge realized.
“So, while you yourself have shown preference for Purebloods, you haven’t shown any hatred or prejudice, or willingness to harm half-bloods, Newbloods or half-humans though in the latter case you have foolishly left them in the hands of that awful woman in pink…” Isamu continued.
“Dolores is a very opiniated woman but I trust her and she is capable…” Fudge said but he was interrupted again.
“And not to mention your blunders with the Dementors. And your administration have kept refusing to deal with those soul sucking demons for ages. And you have kept them near children not once, but twice, risking their lives.” Isamu noted.
Fudge deflated. “I admit that in hindsight it wasn’t my brightest idea.”
“You are not going to survive this Fudge, only reason you haven’t been kicked out is because the Ministry is turned upside down by recent events and things were delayed. So only with outside help we can rectify the problems and make sure our community can improve.” Albus said. “If you want to have any remaining dignity, you shall resign and disappear from view. Since you aren’t malicious, just merely very stupid (forgive my bluntness) you will not be jailed in Azkaban alongside the Death Eaters.”
“But…this job is all I have.” Fudge said.
“You know you never were the right guy for the job, you were only chosen because there was no one else for the job.” Albus said. “There was me, but I don’t want to be Minister, I already have enough paperwork as it is.” The old wizard was glad to, at the end of the year, just be Headmaster only and have reduced paperwork.
“My wife wants to divorce me, my son is in the Auror Corps but wouldn’t even acknowledge me and sides with Bones. He just only speaks to me in capacity of his job and doesn’t call me his father. My daughter moved abroad with her girlfriend first chance she got and even my sister and her family slammed the door in my face.” Fudge said. “In hindsight, they may be ashamed of what I did…” Fudge’s face whom always looked like ‘oblivious idiot’ and now looked pensive…which was odd for him. “And maybe they’re right to.” He sighed. “You two are right. I have been messing up. I have no business being Minister. I’ll step down. You can go ahead with whatever…It has cost me too much.”
“Well it appears you can be reasoned with.” Isamu said, less stern this time. “Please know that it is for the safety of your subjects. Change doesn’t have to be scary, certainly if you don’t know what comes next. But don’t fear the unknown. Because ‘the devil you know’ is still a devil.”
“So…how do we go about it?” Fudge asked.
“We are going to take in the suspects and start trials soon. With the next start of trial, you’ll declare to the Wizengamot that you are quitting.” Isamu said.
“I’ll also probably use the chance to mention that these trials are the last thing I’ll do as Chief Warlock and will choose a successor afterwards.” Dumbledore noted. He felt it was for the best.
“So…when does this campaign begin?” Fudge asked.
“Hey, you can’t go in!” a voice sounded from outside. “the Minister is in meeting.”
“I am the Undersecretary of the Minister himself, you bint! I can walk in whenever I want!” Dolores Umbridge aka The-One-Nobody-Likes storms in. “My apologies, Minister. I was held up, I hope I’m not too late for the meeting.”
“You were not supposed to be part of this.” Fudge reminded her.
“Nonsense, Minister. I am your right hand woman, and you need me…” Umbridge started. She then noticed Isamu. “Why is this foreigner here?”
“Umbridge, he has a name, he is Isamu Ozu and he is here on behalf of the ICW to clear up our problems.” Fudge explained.
“We don’t have any problems to solve. So of you go, Sir! You too Albus, me and Cornelius have real problems to discuss…” Umbridge said.
“Dolores, please stop!” Fudge raised a hand. “We have problems. We have botched by not giving Sirius Black a trial, we have botched by not following up Minister Bagnold’s administration and have proper trials for other people, we have botched with the Dementors and we have botched this Tournament. I’ll leave everything in the ICW’s hands now.”
“But Sir…we cannot let outsiders…they don’t understand…the Noble Houses and families…” Umbridge stammered.
“Doesn’t matter now. They are legally allowed to interfere.” Fudge sighed. “And you should watch your tongue, the Tournament already has become a joke and we already have become a laughingstock in the eyes of other magical communities. And those families…well, they get a fair chance at a trial. If they are innocent, they get off, no damage done. If they are guilty…I don’t like it but if they have been killing innocents, I can’t risk the lives of the rest of the Wizarding population on this.”
Umbridge wanted to open her mouth but Isamu had a look directed at her that felt that if he got any more intense could spontaneously combust her, and Albus Dumbledore was there too whom was powerful in his own right. She also didn’t have the words to say things without sounding bigoted…she was bigoted but she wasn’t stupid and couldn’t openly reveal herself.
“Dolores, my term as a Minister is ending soon. And my last task for you is…well, to get out of the way as the ICW takes care of things. I send you to take Barty’s place in helping the Tournament along with as little problems as we can possibly can moving forwards as we clear out the departments.” Fudge said. It was also the position that Umbridge would be able to do the least amount of damage. She had little authority, it is in a situation where she couldn’t afford to make an international incident or risk being thrown out completely and she’d be closely monitored.
“B-b-but…” Dolores stammered.
“Good day, Dolores!” Fudge said, firmer with her then he ever sounded before.
Dolores slumped as she left. She knew there was no winning here. Cornelius had given up. Well he may not believe in hurting Mudbloods and halfbreeds…not stick up for them but he wasn’t a violent or sadistic man, but through him she got where she were. And she realized that she now is put in a position where she is just out of the way, where she would have little power. Even the lowest ranked office drone would have more power then her. And by inviting in foreigners and getting rid of the Purebloods. Sure they did a bit of damage but they were just culling unsavory elements. She felt betrayed. But there was little she can do. She now served a new Lord and hoped to get a new place in the new world he would create. Until then she could be patient and wait. After all she had lied, cheated, bribed, and even killed to get where she was before, she could do so again. It’s not like these foreigners could deal with the Purebloods, right? Right?

At Nott manor, the Nott family, the second most prominent Dark family after the Malfoys were going about their day. Sure they were under House Arrest and that Amelia Bones has gotten more leeway from the Minister after that pudgy fool fricked up but they were unconcerned as they were able to keep in contact with each other and they had House Elves for errands. They were also convinced that they would be able to get out of the situation they were in now. They hoped it would be sooner rather then later, as they were getting a bit bored cooped up in the house.
“Husband?” the Nott woman said as she looked out of the window.
“Yes?” the Nott patriarch asked.
“There are Aurors outside our home. One of those cloaked wizards from the trial is there too.”
Nott Sr. didn’t feel so well, as they saw how easily Lucius was taken down by the colorful cloaked wizards. “Which ones?”
“The red one…and no, none of the Aurors on our payroll.”
“Well…Dang. Best prepare Portkeys, Floo Powder…”
“The Floo powder is gone. I was sure I had some left.”
“And were are my Portkeys? I am sure I left them here…Can we dissaparate?”
“No, must have set up wards.”
“Darn it! Wookity, Wobbles? Hello? Where are those damn elves?”
“I think we are in a pickle dear…”
Outside, a few house elves in specialized gear came up and greeted the red cloaked wizards. “Nott elves captured and escape routes cut off, Master Kai!” One of them said as they saluted. House Elves were often underestimated, but not by the Ozu family. They were the sons and daughters of Isamu himself and great wizards and witches in their own rights.
“Thank you.” The red cloaked wizard said. He put his wand to his throat and started to speak up. “Cantankerus and Isobel Nott. Your house arrest is going to be converted in full on arrest. Come out with your hands up or we will use force. Your escape routes are all blocked, you have nowhere to run.”
The Notts refused to admit that this was the end for them. Like Lucius Malfoy, they didn’t accept defeat. They kicked their front door open and started firing dark curses. The Aurors and Kai returned fire. Literally, Kai used a series of fire spells with great efficiency. Their shields only held up a while before they broke and their wands were incinerated by Kai’s fire spell. They were hit by spellfire and knocked out. A phoenix appeared, and flamed the two out of there, and in a holding cell, before reappearing on Kai’s shoulders.
“Send a message to Dad, the Notts are contained.” He gave the phoenix a parchment and it flamed away. “Good job team.” He said to the Aurors.

Walden MacNair was cornered by another group. And he wouldn’t allow himself to be taken. He waved his axe, which was magical and indestructible, capable of executing dangerous magical creatures, and would go through human flesh like a hot knife through butter.
That is until another axe clashed with his own, and his axe was the one whom gave out and shattered. Well his axe was destructible after all. He looked up to see a Minotaur of all things. Whom snorted. Well he was a bit of an expert on magical creatures since he killed a lot of them, but he knew that on his own he can’t handle a Minotaur. He ran for it, hoping to make it out of the anti-apparition wards, but found himself tangled up in vines.
The green cloaked wizard, eldest son of Isamu Ozu, Makito. He had created the vines to trap McNair. He rubbed the snout of his Minotaur familiar affectionately. McNair could kiss his job and freedom goodbye.

The Crabbe and Goyle families were not that much brighter then their sons. They weren’t magically powerful as well so they decided to book it. After hearing about associates arrest, they used their little brainpower to think of an escape that the others hadn’t thought up. Their ship, or rather ship they hijacked by using the Imperius on the captain, left the British shores…But then was held up.
A mermaid the size of an orca had stopped the ship in its tracks, as watery tendrils rose up and tied the brutish Death eaters up. On a pillar of water, the blue cloaked sorceress, Urara Ozu was waving her arms to create the watery tendrils that tied them up. Joined by Aurors on brooms pointing their wands at them.

The Carrow siblings Amycus and Alecto ran away from Aurors on brooms. They currently were unable to concentrate upon Dissaparating as they were under constant spellfire. However, one lightning spell hit the ground near them, and creating a shockwave that knocked them off their feet. And then they were picked up by something huge.
A large garuda had them in his claws, and they struggled. However, they couldn’t break free as the Garuda held them down long enough for the Aurors to contain them. The yellow cloaked wizard Tsubasa Ozu’s wand sparked still from the lightning spell. He put his wand away and climbed on the back of his garuda familiar once the Carrows were tied up and taken away.

Avery was trading spellfire with Aurors. He was joined by several compatriots. But they were falling like flies one by one. There were only a handful of him left. He and three others were surrounded by Aurors and he was getting antsy. However, he was suddenly struck in the back and felt himself stunned and falling down.
Only when he was tied up and looked up to see his three compatriots smirking. Was he betrayed? No, they turned into Nymphadora Tonks, the pink cloaked sorceress Houka Ozu and Ozu’s fairy familiar. Two metamorphmagus and a larger, more powerful species of fairy which was Houka’s familiar. Well, drat.

Yaxley and his group went up against a golden cloaked individual, the son-in-law of Isamu, and husband to Urara. Hikaru let out a huge golden glow that was so bright that it hurt the eyes of the suspect Death Eaters and blinded them.
Hikaru then pulled out a lamp, from which a cat-like djinn flew and snatched them up, before leaving them at Shacklebolt’s feet, tied up and knocked out. Shacklebolt and Yaxley both gave each other a thumbs up.

Isamu’s wife Miyuki was no slouch either. Right now she had used her ice magic to freeze several Death Eater suspects to the ground with her gift with ice magic. The fact she also has a unicorn as her steed…able to get close to one is rare, but taming one to the point of making a fine steed is even more rare.
Luckily the ice Gibbon and Jugson was in was magical ice so while they were incredibly cold, this magic ice wouldn’t give frostbite or nerve damage, just contain them. And wrapped up as packages for the Aurors.

Isamu himself was on the back of his own steed, a thestral. He had cut off the werewolf Grayback and his pack. They tried charging him but he created a wall of flame. While werewolves were durable, they weren’t fireproof and they turned around. But another wall of flame rose up. And to the sides. They were cornered. They couldn’t jump over the huge wall of flames.
One thought that if they could charge through the flame wall, they could endure short pain but get out alive. But when that dumb mutt tried, he was burnt to a crisp and died. The wolves were cornered. Now they had to wait for the full moon to pass and then slap cuffs on them.

“You and your family were very efficient.” Amelia Bones said. Currently head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement, and a prime candidate to become the next Minister after Fudge were to leave. After all the ones whom would vote against her were now in holding cells.
“Thank you. And the loyal Aurors worked well with us too.” Isamu Ozu replied. There were a few Aurors whom were either arrested themselves or given the boot for being incompetent, but there were enough good Aurors whom Amelia could trust.
“The only ones unaccounted for are Pettigrew, whom is still probably close to Voldemort. As well as Karkaroff and Snape, whom are at Hogwarts. Though they had received fair trials before, unlike the majority of the ones we captured.” Shacklebolt said as he gave a status.
“Despite that I want them…well, not arrested but question them again.” Amelia said. “While Dumbledore has kept them on shorter leashes, best to not take any risks. And I don’t trust the Dementors either.”
“The Dementors know, they vamoosed.” Nymphadora Tonks noted. “Tried to catch them but they can be fast if they want to.”
“We’ll have to hunt them down eventually. Find a way to permanently deal with them. Because while the Ministry was able to control them in the past, their allegiance has wavered and we can’t risk it anymore.” Amelia said.
“Only thing we know is a super strong Patronus like the Potter boy but there are few whom can make one that strong.” Shacklebolt noted.
“My son-in-law Hikaru is very good with light magic, and he probably knows a few spells that can be used. None of us are fond of the things on principle alone so we are willing to lend more aid hunting them down.” Isamu suggested.
“We’d owe you a much bigger debt then ever before.” Amelia said. “That only leaves us with the Werewolves. Now, if the spell that Potter used on Lupin can be recreated, it may give some of them their lives back, no longer forced to turn to Grayback and be monsters. The Vampire Conclaves rarely cared about the war between the Dark and the Light and have remained neutral. But best to send envoys to make sure they remain that way and at least not work against us. The Giants on Dumbledore’s suggestions. They are a violent race but they can be reasoned with. Don’t want You-Know-Who to get them back on his side.”
“Will all that be enough, if You-Know-Who is still out there he could still gain new allies and followers.” Tonks asked.
“Then we make it our priority to track him down while he’s still weak, before he can regain full power.” Bones said. “In the last few years, due to being blocked, we lost a lot of time, so now we got to step it up.” And this time there weren’t rich corrupt assholes to get in her way anymore.
Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
“It seems they manage to act sooner then expected.” Voldemort concluded as he heard the news of most of his former Death Eaters being arrested. They wouldn’t be able to avoid Azkaban. “Luckily I already have the tools we need, we just need lay low a bit longer.”
“I fear that Dumbledore may no longer be able…or willing…to protect me and Karkaroff and no doubt is that when I return to Hogwarts I may see those Ozus or the Aurors soon.” Snape noted. Karkaroff didn’t say anything as he just sat there pale and sweaty and clearly preventing himself from losing bowel control.
“And they’d be knocking at my door. I was not one of your servants back then but I have…past discretions.” Umbridge said.
“Patience is the key. I waited for years, I can wait some more. In the meantime, I’ll just have to continue my experiments for a bit, to kill some time until I can bust my followers out and regain my old allies.” Voldemort noted.
“I’m back with the supplies you asked for.” Wormtail came in with some supplies. A few old brooms, some parchment and ink, and a few cages with animals inside. Including owls and a very ferocious bat that looked murderous. “Be careful for that one, she nearly gauged my eyes out.”
Voldemort looked at some vials that he had. They were the blood and life juices of Potter and his adoptive family. “Then let the experiments begin.”

Cornelius Fudge has just returned home, plopped himself down in his coach. Sad, tired, empty and depressed. He looked at a few moving wizard pictures of his family, whom have left him. He had been too proud and too sure of himself, grown greedy and egotistical, refusing to admit his mistakes.
He would lose his job tomorrow too, and he’d have nothing, but this empty house. And a few bottles of Firewhiskey.
His life had really gone to pot.
