CHAPTER ONE: THE BEGINNING
-
I looked around at the city. The sun was setting, and people were moving quickly, getting where they needed to be. I looked to my right where Peter was standing. He held my hand as we walked through the city. I looked to my left, where the stores lined the sidewalk, and sighed. Peter noticed.
"What's wrong?" Peter asked.
"Nothing, I just..." I sighed, looking over at him.
"I think something bad is going to happen to us," I said.
"Nothing will happen. Not when I'm around. You know what I can do," Peter said.
"Yes, but, what if none of it works?" I asked.
"It will, Gwen. Trust me," Peter said.
"Okay. Hey, are you hungry?" I asked.
Peter laughed. "You're always hungry, Gwen," Peter said.
I smiled and laughed.
"That's not true! I eat three times a day and maybe a snack!" I said.
"But you're still hungry between those times," Peter said, looking over at me.
I rolled my eyes. "Yeah, whatever. It's not like you eat breakfast anyway," I said.
"I do when I need to. I have to get up early so I can go patrolling and be at school on time. Half the time, I forget I'm hungry!" Peter said.
"Wow, okay. You need to eat then," I said.
"I, fine," Peter said.
I smiled, and lead Peter to the nearest pizza shop. We walked in and got in line. We got to the counter and ordered our pizza. I got pepperoni, and Peter got cheese. We also got a drink to share. We took our food and went outside to find a bench in Bryant Park. After we found one, we sat down and began to eat. Peter started eating quickly.
"Slow down, bug boy," I said, chuckling.
"I'm hungry," Peter said.
"I thought you said you weren't," I said.
"I never said I was hungry," Peter said, taking another bite of pizza after.
"Fine," I said and enjoyed my pizza.
We ate our pizza and talked about random things until the sunset. Then, we decided to go back to our apartment and chill there. Peter said he was going to go back, then go patrolling, which I was okay with. We'd spent the whole day together, so I wasn't mad about it.
We got home and then Peter got dressed in his suit. He came out of our room, and over to me. He looked at me and smiled.
"What?" I asked, looking up at him, laughing.
"I don't know, you're just pretty," Peter said.
"Really? Thank you. You're pretty, too," I said.
"Aw, gee. Thanks," Peter said.
I chuckled, then hugged him. He kissed the top of my head, and then let go.
"See you later," Peter said.
"Yep," I said, smiling at him, and then watched him go to the window and jump out.
I sighed and sat on the couch. I turned on the TV to find something to watch. I turned on the news. There was a big ship that was in the city and it was shaped like a donut. I needed to tell Peter. Though he'd probably figure it out, so I switched the channel and Friends came on. I decided to watch it.
After a while, I got hungry, so I made some popcorn. Then, I continued watching the show.
I looked at the time a little bit later and realized it was nearing 8 pm. I started to feel weird...like, I was disappearing? I don't know if that made any sense, but that's how I'm feeling right now...
I tried to go over to the phone to call Peter, and right as I hit the call button, it turned dark.
