Chapter 1- Danny's POV
Danny’s POV
“uhh..Danny,” I looked up to Tucker calling me, and he pointed to the bus window. Outside in the sky was a huge, metal, donut shaped ship. I look at Sam and Tucker, exasperated, "Well shit, we can never have a normal day can we?” I asked, “think you can make a distraction?”
“No problem! Hey Guys, aliens are real too!” Tucker yelled, getting everyone to look out the window. Since no one was paying attention, I turned invisible and intangible, and let the bus slip right through me. While still invisible, I reached for that familiar coolness of my core and transformed into Phantom. When I flew up I could see that the ship had stopped and there was a large dirt cloud in the park. I decided to head to the park and let the big guys handle the ship. I opened a portal that looks like a natural portal to the GZ. Once I was at the park I saw Iron Man on the ground about to be attacked.
“Hey Tony!” I exclaimed as I blasted the alien to the ground.
“Casper? What are you doing here?” Tony asked, seeming confused, and got up dodging another attack.
“School trip” I answered, then I noticed a guy in a red and blue jumpsuit swinging up next to me and Tony, dodging the alien.
“Hey, man!" he said to the alien as he stopped them from hitting Tony again. "What's up, Mr. Stark, who's this?” Tony looked over to me and back to the other guy.
“Kid, this is Phantom, he’s here to help. Where'd you come from?”
“Hi, I’m Spiderman!” the other, apparently, teenager said to me. He then turned to Tony saying “The field trip to MoMA, What is this guy's problem, Mr. Stark?” Spiderman asked when the alien attacked again.
“He's from space, came here to steal a necklace from a wizard.” As we were fighting the alien, a guy in a cape whizzed by followed by another alien. “Kids, that's the wizard. Get on it.”
“On it!” We said in unison. I took to the sky and spiderman shot some webs at the nearest building, and we were off. Trying to keep up with the wizard and the alien, spiderman got hit by a sign, and I fazed through the street light just in time to catch the wizard. As soon as I had a hold of him, we were surrounded by a blue light pulling us up to a ship. Spiderman tried to pull us back, but ended up getting pulled up with us.
“Mr. Stark? we’re being beamed up.” he said into an earpiece. Thankfully I still had the Fenton Phones on.
“Sam, Tuck, I’m being pulled up to the ship. Let my family know what's happening and I'll be back as soon as I can.”
"Danny, what the fuck!” Sam whisper yelled into the mic.
“I know, but I couldn’t just sit there and do nothing” I argued back. As we were getting closer and closer to the ship, our connection started to go.
“Dann…ho…back hom…?”* Tucker said, coming through really staticky. And before I could respond the connection went out completely. Great.
“But you said save the wizard!” Spiderman said into the earphone. Looking over, he was holding on to the side of the ship and it looked like he was going to pass out. ‘We must be up too high for him to breathe,’ I thought to myself. Just then, he ripped off his mask, looking into my eyes-and suddenly I had this overpowering need to protect him, no focus- and started hyperventilating. Shortly after he let go and started falling. I was about to go get him until he was hit in the back with something and hit the ship. He seemed like he could breathe again and once he was standing, a parachute shot out of his back and he went flying.
“I’m coming!” I yelled as I flew after him. Going around to the back of the ship, Spiderman managed to shoot a web just in time to hang on. I grabbed his arm and started to fly up until I saw a hatch that could hold us both. Once we were both inside, the hatch started to close.
“I should have stayed on the bus.” Spiderman said to himself. He then looked over to me and said, “ we should go look for Mr. Stark, he’s not going to be happy we’re here though.” Spiderman started to look for a way into the ship, but I just grabbed his arm and turned intangible. He started freaking out but quieted once we saw Tony. As we were waiting for the right moment to approach Tony, a sentient cape made its way over to him.
“Wow. You are a seriously loyal piece of outerwear.” Tony said to it. At that moment spiderman decided to make us known.
“Speaking of loyalty…” he started, as his mask retracted. “I know what you're gonna say” and Tony cut him off.
“ You should not be here.” He reprimanded “and neither should you!” he gestured to me.
“We were gonna go home” I started but was cut off as well.
“I don't wanna hear it!” Tony said back, raising his voice.
“But it was such a long way down and we just thought…” I tried to continue.
“And now I gotta hear it.” Tony said with that disappointed dad look.
Spiderman just continued rambling, “And this suit is ridiculously intuitive, by the way. So, if anything, it's kind of your fault that I'm here.” I winced, that definitely wasn't the right thing to say. Tony must have thought the same.
Shocked, Tony asked “What did you just say?” and immediately Spiderman took it back and wrapped up how we got here.
“Yeah. Right where I didn't want you to be. This isn't Coney Island, or some field trip. This is a one-way ticket. Do you hear me? Don't pretend you thought this through.” He then turned to me, “Your parents are going to lose their minds for coming up here, and I’m going to have to be the one to hear it!” He lectured us, and Spiderman gave me a weird look before turning back to Tony.
“I did think this through. I did, but you can't be a friendly neighborhood Spider-Man if there's no neighborhood.” He hesitated. “Okay, that didn't make sense but you know what I'm trying to say. Come on. We got a situation.” he said, trying to get the focus back on the wizard.
“Okay, see him down there? He's in trouble. What's your plan? Go.” Tony said like he was trying to test our critical thinking.
“Okay, okay.” I said, thinking, Then it came to me. ”Okay, you ever see this really old movie Aliens?” Spiderman’s eyes went wide and Tony just rolled his eyes. After making our plan we got into position.
We were right above the alien and the wizard, and you could hear the alien taunting him. “Painful, aren't they? They were originally designed for microsurgery.” Tony then moved down to get into his position, and the alien continued. “And any one of them…” he said turning to Tony, “could end your friend's life in an instant.”
“I gotta tell you, he's not really my friend. Saving his life is more of a professional courtesy.” Tony said ready for the fight. The alien, with some kind of telekinetic ability, grabbed a piece of the ship, ready to hit Tony with it, before he started monologuing again.
“You've saved nothing. Your powers are inconsequential compared to mine.” He said, grabbing another piece of the ship, walking closer to Tony.
“Yeah, but the kid's have seen more movies.” Tony said, shooting a rocket at the side of the ship. The alien got sucked out of the ship immediately and the wizard started to go too. His cape caught hold of him but he slipped out of its grasp.
I flew after him, but as soon as I touched him I got a nasty shock from his magic and couldn't keep hold of him. Finally spiderman was able to catch him in a web, but started to get pulled out of the ship himself. Suddenly four mechanical spider legs released from the back of his suit, catching himself around the hole. “Yes! Wait, what are those?” he yelled. Once the wizard was all the way back in the ship Tony was able to close the hole and the wizard landed on the floor. The cape came up near spiderman,” Hey, we haven't officially met.” He said but the cape just floated around him and back to the wizard. “Cool” he said to himself, after being ignored.
“Loyal, but not friendly” I said as I pat him on the back and we made our way over to Tony and the wizard.
As we were walking around on the upper platform, we could hear them talking. “We gotta turn this ship around.” I heard the wizard say.
“Yeah. Now he wants to run. Great!” Tony shouted back, walking towards the large window.
“I want to protect the stone.” The wizard said back in a calm manner.
Tony, seeming to get more irritated, said “And I want you to thank me now. Go ahead, I'm listening.”
“For what? Nearly blasting me to space?” the wizard asked sarcastically.
“Wow, these guys argue like an old married couple.” I whispered to Spiderman, he looked back at me nodding his head in agreement.
“Who just saved your magical ass? Me.” Tony stated definitely.
“I seriously don't know how you fit your head into that helmet.” the wizard quipped back.
“Admit it. You should've ducked out when I told you to.” Tony exclaimed, frustrated. “I tried to bench you, you refused.”
“Unlike everyone else in your life, I don't work for you.” The wizard shot back.
“And due to that fact, we're now in a flying doughnut, billions of miles from Earth, with no back-up.”
At that comment, Spiderman lowered himself down, upside down, and intangibly slipped through the upper deck and reappeared in front of the two. “Hey! We’re back-up!” we said in unison, again.
Tony turned to us and pointed an accusatory finger. “No. You two are stowaways. The adults are talking.” as he pointed between him and the wizard.
The wizard looked over to Tony, “I'm confused as to the relationship here, I mean, what are they? Your wards?”
“No. I'm Peter, by the way.” Spiderman said. Holding out his hand for a handshake, but getting dismissed.
“I’m Danny.” I said give a curt wave.
“Doctor Strange.” He responded, gesturing to himself.
“Oh, we're using our made-up names?” Peter looked at me with a questioning expression. “I'm Spider-Man, and this is Phantom.”
Dr. Strange just rolled his eyes and turned to Tony as he said, “The ship is self-correcting its course. Things on autopilot.”
“Mr. Stark, can we control it? Fly us home?” I asked.
Tony let out an exasperated sigh, mumbling “you too, with the ‘Mr. Stark’.” ignoring my question.
After a long pause Dr. Strange spoke up. “Stark.” He said in a firm tone.
“Yeah?” he questioned.
“Can you get us home?” He asked again.
“Yeah. Heard him.” He paused again before saying, “ I'm not so sure we should.” He turned to look out the window, like he was weighing his options in the head.
Dr. Strange immediately spoke up,”Under no circumstances can we bring the Time Stone to Thanos. I don't think you quite understand what's at stake here.”
Tony blew up at this, “No. It's you who doesn't understand that Thanos has been inside my head for six years since he sent an army to New York, and now he's back!” He sat down, running his hands through his hair. “ And I don't know what to do. So I'm not so sure if it's a better plan to fight him on our turf or his. But you saw. What they did, what they can do. At least, let's hope he's not expecting it. So I say we take the fight to him, Doctor. Do you concur?”
Dr. Strange thought it over, “All right, Stark. We go to him. But you have to understand…” he paused for a moment “If it comes to saving you, the kids, or the Time Stone… I will not hesitate to let any of you die. I can't. Because the universe depends on it.”
I chuckled and they all looked over to me, “Sorry, I’m already a ghost, I don't think I can die again.” I quipped back.
“Nice. Good. Moral compass.” Tony said to the Dr. and I. He then turned to Peter and I, “All right, Pete, Danny...You're Avengers now.” tapping us on the shoulders like he was dubbing a knight. We look at Tony with matching looks of disbelief, Peter then smiles and nods in satisfaction and I give him a determined smirk. And we continued on auto-pilot through space.
“This is like a dream and a nightmare at the same time. I've always wanted to go to space, but I never thought it would be with some of the Avengers and trying to save the world.” I thought out loud. And we continued our journey through space.
