Chapter 7
“Natasha? Natalia Romanov?” Bucky asked in disbelief as he rolled his window down.
“Do I know you?” She raised a brow, looking Bucky over.
Bucky wiped the tears from his eyes. “Well no, not really. I worked at S.H.I.E.L.D when you were committed.” He held his hand out to shake. “My name is Dr. James Buch- It was Dr. James Buchanan Barnes. But you can call me Bucky Barnes!”
Natasha ignored his extended hand and rested her hands on her hips. “Barnes? The Nomad’s boy? Bucky Barnes? The…Bucky Barnes?”
“Yeah, You know of me then?” Bucky smiled, blushing a bit.
“Don’t look so flattered Hun, you ain’t known to us for your criminal finesse.” She retorted
“Who exactly is ‘us’?” Bucky snapped, feeling offended.
“The criminal underworld Honey. You really are pathetic aren’t you?” Nat tutted, looking at Bucky’s teary state.
“Underworld? Well, what am I known for then?”
“You’re the Nomad’s whore, and general punching bag. And by the looks of you, I’d assume that I hit the nail right on the head.” Natasha looked him up and down with disgust written all over her face. “Look I ain’t here for chit-chat, I just want you to move your damn car so I can get out.”
“I’m not, He doesn’t, Is that what you really think?”
“It’s not what I think, it's what I know. You ain’t gonna cry on me are ya? Because I’m going to walk away right now if you are.” Nat noticed Bucky’s eyes beginning to dampen.
“No. No, I'm not crying.” He wiped his eyes.
“Good. You’re an ugly crier.” Nat desperately wanted to change the subject, all she wanted to do was go home, not have to deal with a crying brunette, and not just any crying brunette. The Nomad’s crying brunette. “Look, you blocked me in with your car. Move it, so I can get home to my babies.” She spat.
Bucky was beyond fuming right now, how dare she come over here, and belittle him.
“Ha! You have kids? You don’t mean to say that someone actually slept with you?” He laughed. “I ain’t moving my car until you ask nicely.” he crossed his arms over his chest. “I’ve got all day sweetheart.” Bitchy Bucky was definitely coming out to play now.
Tasha stood there lost for words, she wasn’t expecting Bucky to have such fire in him. She liked it.
“Oh Honey, I ain’t got time for kids, they’re little shits at the best if times. No, I have more valuable life under my care. They don’t call me Black widow for nothing y’know.”
“Black widow? Is that your stage name?” He sneered, looking at her lack of clothing. Good one Buck
It’s a vine similar to poison Ivy you fools.
“You’re just as irritating as he is, But I like you.” She smiled.
“You like me huh? Funny way of showing it.”
Natasha leaned through the window and leant on her elbows. “Look, I don’t like people that much, I have a hard time expressing…emotions?.”
“You can say that again”
“Look honey, if you move your car then that would be great. Then maybe…Maybe we could for coffee at my place. I could teach you the ropes of being a ‘Class A’ criminal, and trust me Hun, I have this thing down” Tailia held out her hand. “Deal?” She knew she’d regret this, but she couldn’t deny that Bucky had potential.
‘Don’t make deals you don’t know the contracts to darlin’ Steve’s voice from all those months ago rang in his head.
“I dunno, I kinda have somewhere to be, got things to do y’know” Bucky stumbled out his excuses. But the offer was tempting, maybe spending time away from Steve and his band of merry men would clear his head. Maybe Steve would respect him more if he stood on his own two feet.
“Plus Stevie wouldn’t like me running around Brooklyn, without asking him first.” Bucky reached for his phone. “Let me ask him-” Just as Bucky was about to dial, Nat’s hand stopped him.
“Fuck the Nomad, he could never teach you the things I could. You need to find yourself Bucky, without him. That’s the only way you’ll be successful. Besides it’s only coffee, I’m not asking you to skip the country ok?”
“Ughh Fine. But I can’t for long, I have to get back soon.”
“Just one cup, I swear.” Nat giggled. “Soon as you move that second rate bat-moblie outta the way, we can get going. We can get going, just follow my lead.”
Bucky nodded and rolled his window up, watching her step away from the car.
“Why do I get myself into these situations?” He asked his reflection, whilst pulling his car out, freeing Natasha’s cherry red 1965 mustang fastback, with W1D0W as the license plate.
Nat pulled alongside him and gestured to him to follow behind. Bucky reluctantly obeyed.
Meanwhile at the mansion, Steve was on the phone to Tony Stark, talking his ear off about Bucky.
“Yeah yeah, You’re sorry, just shut it ok? I need you to tell me if you saw Bucky after our little, Uhh Bargain?”
“No Steve, I didn’t. I kinda wanted to avoid the whole situation.” Tony answered. “Ask Clint, he’s always sticking his nose where it doesn’t belong.”
“I ain’t asking that idiot! Talking to him is like trying to get blood out of a stone. I ain’t got time for his antics that will probably lead to nothing.” Steve rested his forehead in his hand. “Did you see Walker at all last night?”
“No, why? What’s he got to do wi- Oh my god! Ya don’t think Bucky and Walker are having hanky-panky behind your back do ya? Cuz I’ve seen the way he looks at him, it’s exactly the same way you do.”
“Shut the fuck up! I do not look at him in any way!” He slammed his fist on the able. “He wouldn’t and Walker wouldn’t dare! Besides, Bucky's loyal to a fault.”
He sighed. “But something’s definitely going on Tones, He hasn’t been himself since last night and it’s kinda grinding at me.”
“Well how would you feel if the person who’s supposed to love you, traded you like a fucking Marlboro?” Tony answered
There was a deep sigh over the other end of he receiver.
“Anthony?” Steve snapped
“Yes Steve?”
“If you mention the ‘L word’ one more fucking time, I’ll cut your tongue out and mail it to Eddie and Venom as a treat. Got it?”
“Alright, Alright, I was just saying is all. You couldn’t really blame him if he did, you were gonna force him to sleep with me for a couple grand. You betrayed him first. But like you said, he’s loyal.”
“You ain’t helping one bit. Why the fuck did I call you anyway? You just stir the shit and guilt trip me. Not helpful pal.” Steve hung up and slammed his phone on his desk.
Shortly after there was a knock on his office door, Steve squared away all of his papers and contacts, positioning himself in his chair.
“Come in” He ordered
The door slowly opened and Walker walked in squeezing his body through the small gap he’d given himself. Once he was on the other side, he flattened out his clothes and looked directly at Steve.
“You wanted to see me boss.” Walker spoke cautiously.
“Yes Walker, take a seat” Steve gestured to the chair in front of his desk. “Make yourself comfortable.”
Walker shuffled his posture in the chair, trying to look as relaxed as possible. “Now Walker, I need your advice on a personal matter… It’s kinda awkward but you’re one of my top men, so I trust your judgment,” Steve opened the drawer to his desk and pulled out a golden revolver, placing it carefully on the desk.
“Okay, boss.” Walker swallowed hard, trying to steady his nerves
“See, back before the war before I became this charming fellow you see here, I knew a guy, who I was pretty close with. He was a simple man, simple tastes and desires. When he turned eighteen he signed on with the army, following in the footsteps of his father. He completed basics with flying colors and at the beginning of the war got shipped out. Anyway, he had this sweetheart back home, pretty dame, a real bombshell. You know the type?”
Walker nodded, slightly confused on where this story was going and why the hell Steve needed a revolver to tell it.
“Well, although they had their arguments and disagreements, they were committed to each other, not officially but it went without saying. When he got shipped out, he had a huge argument with her the night before he left, she started accusing him of choosing the country before her and not taking good enough care of her. Let’s say the guy understood, but he had a job to do. To serve his country. Anyway, this girl stormed off that night and didn’t return until the early hours of the morning, only when the guy confronted her about it, she started acting strangely, stranger than usual. She had always been crazy but this kinda crazy he wasn’t used to. To cut a long story short, in the end he confided in his friend about it, only to find his friend was acting pretty strange too. Turns out his friend and his gal had somethin’ going on behind his back. Being a man of action, he wasn’t taking this lying down, after all there’s order to keep up in a situation like this and when he approached them both about it, they just couldn’t get their stories straight. His girlfriend told him one thing but his friend said another… Now Walker, what would a guy do in a situation like that?”
Walker’s face turned stark white, sweating uncontrollably. “I-I dunno b-boss”
“So you’re telling me if your guy or gal was fooling around with your friend, you wouldn’t know what to do?” Steve asked, reaching his hand into the desk drawer again.
“No boss” He answered, not taking his eyes off Steve’s revolver.
“Now this is the difference between you and me Walker, I’m a man of action. And hypothetically speaking if Bucky was fooling around with, let’s say you for example, I wouldn’t stop until every square inch of your body was shot up into teeny tiny little pieces, and placed in gift bags to give out to your family for christmas. Think of the hours of fun they’d have putting your body back together like a jigsaw puzzle, in order to identify ya”
Steve could see how uncomfortable this conversation was making him, so he continued.
“As for Bucky, well I wouldn’t be so nice to him. I’d lure him into a false sense of security and when the moment was right..I’d stab him in the heart, and for every plea of mercy that he’d beg for, I’d drive it deeper even harder into his skin. Then after his body was so punctured he was barely healing, I’d cut his heart out and lean into his ear, telling him I never loved him. His heart would break in the palm of my hand, just like mine did in his”
Steve slammed the ivory blade down right next to the pistol.
“I’d kill you with this gun and him with this knife” He pointed at them, then raised his head to meet Walker, “Speaking hypothetically, of course”
Walker nearly passed out listening to all the graphic details of his and Bucky’s demise at the hands of Steve, Nomad definitely knew about the kiss, Walker thought it was probably best to come clean, blame the whole thing on Bucky, make himself look better and maybe. Just maybe spare himself from Steve’s wrath. “L-Look boss, It was all Bucky’s idea. He came onto me in a moment of weakness, honestly I don’t know what his play was, maybe he wanted to hurt you maybe he didn’t” Walker made sure to whimper putting on a show for his boss, He had put Bucky at the forefront of Nomad’s wrath, making it seem like he’s the victim here and that he didn’t corner Bucky, making it seem like the two toned brunette was the one to initiate the kiss.
“Didn’t do what?” His rage rising like a rapid boil, only just contained in his tone. “Kissed. Bucky kissed me”
Steve’s face dropped from an evil smile to a downright demonic smirk, he rounded the desk grabbing Walker’s throat slamming him into the floor. “What!?” he shouted, “It was nothing to me boss I-I swear, just a brief kiss on the lips” Walker tried desperately to save himself from this situation, even if it meant throwing Bucky to the rabid wolves…so to speak. “Nothing?” Steve raised a brow “You kissed Bucky, I don’t class that as nothing” Steve drew his fist back and punched Walker in the face, hearing a defined crack when his knuckles met bone. “He kissed me, I’m sorry” Walker gurgled blood in his mouth. “See Walker,” Steve drew out his name “I know you’re lying, Bucky maybe a brat and downright infuriating at time but, he only has eyes for me.” He said in between punches, Steve stopped picking the other man off the floor by his collar, holding him up. “Do you love him?” Nomad asks, pressing his hands on his neck restricting the airflow, Walker didn’t say anything; he just choked on his own blood, streaming down his nose into his mouth.
“Do.You.Fucking.Love.Him?” Steve growled out, shaking Walker’s body around. “Y-Yes,” Walker spits “I love him, but that fucking whore only loves you”
The Nomad released his grip slamming Walker down on the floor, kicking him in the stomach, after a few harsh kicks into his ribcage, Steve stood breathing heavily. Walker slowly raised himself onto his elbows, “I had him in the kitchen, he came bouncing in, in just a t shirt like the little fucking slut he is. I had my hands on his bare hips and instead of being grateful that he wasn’t being pushed around he punched me, told me if I touched him again he would kill me.” Walker chokes, spitting out blood.
Steve kicks him back down to the floor, “Should’ve fucked him then, SHOULD”VE MADE HIM SCREAM!” Walker shouts. Steve growls lifting him up by the collar holding him still, “He’s My Property!” His right hand drew back and came hammering down at such velocity, that Walker head slammed against the hardwood and he instantly got double vision.
“I will fucking end you, you hear me?” Steve leaned down to his ear, “Fucking end you.”
The Nomad’s smiling face was the last thing Walker saw before he blacked out.
