Chapter 17

Meeting after meeting with the oracle. Dong had predicted that Siyeon wouldn’t have bursts of breaking. That she was slowly breaking little by little but would always have strong protection urges. To keep her family safe.

“No more large breaking. Not like Bora’s,” Dong explained. “She has been eased into everything rather than rushed. Which is what I told your sister to do… but she never listens,” the beta sighed.

“Wait, so her breaking was all because Yoohyeon rushed Bora into everything?” Minji frowned.

“Yes, she had four breaking periods,” Dong explained. “Each one much worse than the last. But it wouldn’t have happened if your sister had just listened to me in the first place. Ease Bora in, keep distance, just as you had with Siyeon.” She directed her attention to the alpha, watching her briefly. “And how do you feel about everything?” She asked.

“I like it,” Siyeon shrugged. “I like being with Minji, and I like the palace.”

“Good,” Dong smiled.

Every meeting was nearly the same, asking Siyeon what her thoughts were before asking Minji the same questions and hearing their answers. They were on a slow path, but it was perfect. Perfect for them and it worked out. No aggressive breaking, no intense emotions, nothing that made them have ripples in their little relationship.

Siyeon still hated the king with a strong passion, glaring at him whenever she could and watching him attempt to stand his ground. He may have been a monarch, but Siyeon didn’t really care too much for the monarchy, or him for that matter.

Minji had been pulled away from their dinner, frowning when one of the parliament took her from their meal, explaining their meeting was rather urgent since there were multiple things still left undone while Yoohyeon took a break from her own duties to recover from birthing a pup. She listened to the various things, listing off answers to a few of the problems before reading through their own scrolls and advising them on which directions to go.

“Father would know more about this one…” Minji whispered while handing back the scroll to the parliament member.

“Princess, your father would wage a war if he saw these…” The member frowned.

“Unfortunately… I’m just a princess… I cannot make these decisions…” Minji whispered. “I’ll sway his mind and influence the decision, but… Father and Yoohyeon are within the military decisions…” She sighed.

Minji hated that she would be in charge one day. The sole monarch of their kingdom. Her parents would step down eventually, leaving her in charge of everything. She was glad they split the duties based on what knowledge they were already great with. Minji handled the kingdom’s food supply as well as what was best for their people while Yoohyeon handled relations with bordering kingdoms and military strategy with the king himself.

But once she became queen… She wouldn’t have anyone to split the duties with.

Her parents had kept the divide growing up. Her father would handle the military, final rule, trials, and even executions. Her mother kept the peace of the people, helped with trials, ran alpha facilities that were within the kingdom grounds, and kept bordering kingdom relations.

It terrified the princess of how she would rule. Would she be a good ruler? Someone the people would be able to look up to? She knew the villagers weren’t keen on her not being bound at her age, and were not keen on her courting an alpha. She wondered why she was different when Yoohyeon had done the same thing. She wondered if she would have to have a special ceremony with an omega just to keep the public at bay.

But, then it would come with having a pup to save face. A pup to keep the bloodline pure. Someone to raise and train for the throne… All while she would be unhappy. Having to make appearances and talk of how much she loved her omega spouse when really she loved Siyeon.

She stopped in her tracks at her own play of the future in her mind. In her head, Siyeon was still there. Right by her side and keeping her sane. She really did love her and never wanted her to leave. She smiled at the thought and realization, happy she felt this way with the alpha. Then it hit her.

Her alpha was nowhere in sight.

Siyeon lay across the couch, letting out a purring noise the longer the queen continued to scratch her back, keeping her entirely calm. She had no idea how long she had been there and the thoughts of where Minji went had completely left her mind.

“Can you stop glaring at her?” The queen scoffed.

“She’s nothing but an aggressive alpha. How can you not see that?” The king muttered.

“Does this look like an aggressive alpha to you?” The queen chuckled. “Go on, you can probably touch her and she won’t care,” She smiled.

The king hesitated, reaching out to touch Siyeon’s head, only for the alpha to snap her head up and snarl at the monarch. He yanked his hand back, continuing his angry expression before muttering a few swears under his breath.

“Stupid alpha,” He muttered.

“Maybe you should’ve been nice to her in the beginning and she would be nice now,” The queen smirked before continuing her actions.

Minji turned the corner into the private library, seeing her mother already holding Siyeon hostage. Well, not entirely hostage and she couldn’t help but laugh at the sight.

“Mother, you are aware she is my alpha… Right?” Minji smiled as she stepped into the room.

“I’m not allowed to enjoy her company? I didn’t get to spend proper time with Bora since Yoohyeon monopolized her time,” The queen frowned. “And she adores spending time here… Don’t you Siyeon?” The queen moved her hand under Siyeon’s chin, lifting her head up and hearing the loud purring noise. “Goodness,” She chuckled.

“I didn’t know alpha’s made that kind of noise…” Minji whispered, a little shocked that her mother had gotten Siyeon to make new noises. “But I came to retrieve her. I’m ready for bed and I would like her to be there,” She smiled.

Siyeon was content, entirely happy as she got into the bed with the omega. Minji was thrilled to have her close, happy to have her like this. Usually, they slept at a little distance, but Siyeon was feeling extremely cuddly and was already clinging to the princess like a little koala.

“You’re being very affectionate these days,” Minji smiled while holding onto the alpha. She didn’t get a verbal response, only a physical one of Siyeon holding onto her tighter, nuzzling her cheek against Minji’s head. She heard the same purring noise, happy that the alpha was like this.

Less guarded. Less aggressive. A complete and total opposite of what she had been before. No snarling, no biting, no scratching, no anything. Just this lovable alpha that would occasionally have spouts of aggression. Which was normal.

By morning, Minji was surprised that Siyeon was still clinging to her. The alpha’s front was glued to her back, not allowing the omega to move in the slightest. She could barely turn to face the alpha before feeling the sleepy sounds escaping her lips. It made Minji’s heart skip a few beats, enjoying the moments like this.

The princess nuzzled into Siyeon, feeling the alpha’s arms tighten around her before loosening slightly. She felt extremely safe right then and loved every moment of it. Loved the feeling like this and she couldn’t help but wonder if Bora was like this with Yoohyeon. Why Yoohyeon wanted her close all the time? It felt safe. It felt lovely honestly. Someone holding them so tightly… It just brought a very nice feeling to her.

She caught the familiar scent of a river, smiling as she nosed at the younger’s neck. She could smell the extremely faint lavender from her mother, but it was fading fast and being replaced with the scent Minji had grown to love without a second thought.

“I was sleeping nicely,” Siyeon mumbled.

“Sorry,” Minji smiled. She wasn’t entirely apologetic with her actions, she was happy actually. “Siyeon?” She whispered, causing the alpha to look down at her.

She was bold, but she wanted it. She pulled Siyeon closer, pressing her lips against the alpha’s and heard a small hum. She felt Siyeon’s arms tighten around her, holding her closer just to deepen the kiss.

“Your lips are soft too,” Siyeon mumbled.

Minji couldn’t help but smile.

Their days were the same, enjoying meals together with Minji feeding her first before herself. When Yoohyeon joined them at the table after a few weeks, Minji was thrilled to have her sister there. Mostly as a buffer for her father.

“Look at her! She’s the most adorable little pup I’ve ever seen!” The queen cooed while holding the newest addition to the palace. “What was her name?” She asked.

“Gahyeon,” Yoohyeon smiled.

“Princess Gahyeon! Oh, it works lovely,” the queen smiled while stroking the little pup’s cheeks.

“You two have made… status?” The king asked Minji.

“Yes,” Minji answered without looking at him. “Is that a problem?” She muttered.

“No, no, just curious,” He muttered.

Siyeon ventured under the table, popping out near the queen to see the pup up close.

Yoohyeon let out a gasp, looking back at Minji who was unfazed by the entire thing. In fact, Siyeon going to see the queen during meals had been such a normal thing to them now, that it wasn’t odd.

“Come for a peek?” The queen smiled.

“Yes,” Siyeon whispered, peeking over the little blanket bundle.

She had seen many pups up close before. But this one carried meaning. A big title and a heavy position to take if she presented as an omega.

She was a cute pup. Chubby cheeks, adorable eyes… but Siyeon felt it. The drop in her heart at the thought that the kid still had a chance at being an alpha. A true fifty fifty shot at being one of them… she glanced at Bora, seeing the same look in the older alpha’s eyes.

She was just as terrified…

Siyeon backed away slowly, going right back under the table and to Minji. Her entire demeanor changed.

The pup couldn’t be near them… it would influence whatever was in them in order to present. It made sense why Yoohyeon’s scent was all over her rather than Bora’s.

Siyeon was incredibly grateful her scent wasn’t powerful. She didn’t want to influence the pup.
