Chapter 15
The suitor stayed within the kingdom for a total of four days, each day getting more and more agitated with the alpha that was glued to Minji’s side. Siyeon was a quick learner, sticking by her side and refusing to leave. Even in the study, Siyeon stayed by her side, seated next to her chair at the desk, completely focused on the flames that danced in the fireplace.
The suitor refused to get entirely too close after the dinner incident. He claimed the alpha was feral when really Siyeon was feeding off of Minji’s energy. She didn’t want him near her so Siyeon was more than happy to act as the aggressive alpha yet again.
On the suitor’s last day, Minji kept in her study, going through different scrolls her father had given her. He claimed Yoohyeon couldn’t keep up with her own duties, and had given them to the eldest to take over. Minji stayed in the warmth and comforts of familiarity while Siyeon stayed close. The suitor was warned to leave her alone since she was working, but like all omega men, they never listened.
Siyeon lifted her head from her pillow, sniffing the air before shuffling closer to Minji. She was tired from her nap being ruined by this idiot omega, and now she had to protect Minji from him.
Minji felt the alpha shift to leaning against her leg, then felt her leave. She frowned when she watched her dive under the desk, knowing the alpha had a weird fixation with going under things. She had dove under the bed a thousand times to hide and Minji found it weird but it was adorable at the same time.
The alpha found her way back up, resting in between Minji’s legs on her lap. She was content. Hiding under the desk meant no keeping proper postures in case someone walked in, and comfort. It was warm because of how small it was, and soft because of the extra fabric that came from the princess’ dress.
“Comfortable?” Minji chuckled while reaching under the desk to find Siyeon’s head.
“Very,” Siyeon sighed. “He might interrupt us and I don’t want to see his ugly face,” the alpha grumbled.
“He was told not to,” the princess sighed while rubbing her fingers through Siyeon’s hair. The alpha let out a content hum, leaning more into her hand and catching more of her scent.
The alpha was finding more comfort in her scent, happy to consistently smell like this. She was entirely comfortable, relaxing for the first time in a few days since this suitor showed his face. She was near sleep again when the alpha heard someone knocking on the door, causing her to let out a growl.
“Shush,” Minji cooed while running a thumb over her cheek. “Come in,” she called, picking up her brush and continuing her work.
“Ah, looks like you’re finally alone.”
Siyeon rolled her eyes, wanting to growl, but Minji was keeping her relaxed by rubbing tiny circles on her cheek.
“What do you want? I’m busy,” Minji glared at him.
“Busy with what exactly? Maybe I am able to help,” He smiled.
“My own kingdom’s dealings. You wouldn’t understand,” Minji chuckled.
Siyeon could practically smell his scent causing permanent damage to her own nose, causing her to start to release her own scent to overpower his. She shifted in her place, unintentionally resting her knee on Minji’s foot, causing her to make a muffled noise of pain.
“Are you alright?” He quickly asked, watching her push away from the desk.
“I’m sorry!” Siyeon quickly pouted, escaping from the desk, placing her hands on Minji’s thighs, looking right into her eyes, frowning.
To the two, it was innocent. Siyeon was just hiding and enjoying being close to Minji.
To the suitor? It was a very different picture. An alpha popping up from under a desk while the princess worked? It was an odd situation.
The suitor was about to shout at Minji and the alpha, demanding she explains what exactly was going on. But they had been interrupted by servants shouting and then saw Bora appear in the doorway.
“Minji! It’s time!” Bora panted, clearly exhausted from running across the palace.
“Now?!” Minji frowned, looking at the alpha.
“Now!” Bora growled before taking off back down the halls.
“Now??” Siyeon frowned while moving back to stand on her feet. She helped the princess up, watching her nod her head.
“Now what?! What is it time for?” The suitor frowned.
“My sister’s having her pup. If you’ll excuse me,” Minji quickly pushed him out of her way, hurrying to follow the other alpha.
Siyeon wasted no time growling at him as she hurried passed.
The alpha arrived later than the rest, finding the princess already exiting the room she assumed everyone was in. She didn’t see Bora in the hall, but when the door was opened again, she saw the queen, and Bora on either side of the bed with Yoohyeon laying between them.
“Nothing’s happened yet,” Minji sighed. “Just her water broke,” She frowned.
“She’ll be okay,” Siyeon whispered.
“The pup is early…” Minji muttered before walking closer to the alpha. “Early pups… I just… I’m worried…” The omega sighed before hugging Siyeon tightly.
“I’m sure… Both of them will be okay.”
No one could properly relax or even rest. The king was on edge, pacing in the drawing room with the suitor and Minji. Siyeon had taken her place on the floor next to Minji, resting against her leg.
“Father, please stop… you’re making me dizzy…” Minji mumbled.
“How can I stop?!” He snapped, earning a growl from Siyeon. “Control your alpha Minji.” He glared.
“Not now,” Minji placed a hand under Siyeon’s chin, lifting her head to look up at her.
Siyeon let out a huff, escaping her grip before feeling a hand on her head and nails scraping her scalp. She let out a content hum, leaning into the princess’ hand more.
“It’s over,” the queen interrupted their little meeting, a smile on her face. “The pup is healthy, she’s a healthy pup,” she whispered.
“Oh thank goodness,” Minji whispered. She felt the alpha under her hand relax more, allowing her to feel more at ease. “And Yoohyeon?” She asked.
“Exhausted, but healthy as well.” The queen smiled at everyone, happy everything worked out.
The tension that hung in the air slowly disappeared, allowing everyone to feel less on edge. The sun was long gone, allowing everyone to start to relax before bed. Minji stayed in the drawing room, enjoying the comforts of the chair and the sounds of the fireplace crackling.
Siyeon was content with sitting in front of it, holding one of the little metal sticks to poke at the logs. Her mind was telling her to touch it but before she could, the door opened, revealing the suitor yet again. The alpha let out a low growl, glaring at him before she heard a snap of fingers, glancing over at the princess.
“What do you want?” Minji frowned at him.
“Well… I leave in the morning. I was hoping to speak to you privately, but I’m going to guess she stays?” He pointed at the alpha, watching the princess nod her head.
“And I wouldn’t make her angry. She has a weapon,” Minji reminded.
The suitor frowned as he glanced over at the alpha, seeing the metal stick in her hands. He gulped at the sight of the small smile that played on her lips as well.
“And you can’t take it from her?” He frowned.
Minji could smell the fear that mixed with his scent. Oh, she loved it. She loved that Siyeon had just grabbed the stick to play with the fire and now this suitor was terrified.
“No, she enjoys stoking the fire,” Minji shrugged, glancing at her alpha. “But if you insist,” She let out an exaggerated sigh, holding out her palm. “Put it back first,” she instructed.
Siyeon huffed as she put the stick back with the others before joining Minji’s side. She sat on the floor next to her seat, feeling her hand on top of her head.
“Speak,” Minji mumbled.
“What is your opinion of me? Are we going to keep this going or are we going to part ways?” He asked bluntly.
“Are you able to tolerate my alpha?” Minji asked.
Siyeon’s heart jumped at the words again. She couldn’t help but feel warm inside and out. In a technical world, she wasn’t anyone’s alpha, since she hadn’t mated anyone. She couldn’t really mate with anyone properly, but that's beside the point. Minji was calling the alpha hers and that was enough to make her over the moon happy.
“We would need to settle some boundaries,” he scoffed. “She can’t be with you every waking moment,” he chuckled nervously.
“Then no. We part ways and never see the other again,” Minji shrugged before stroking Siyeon’s head.
“Excuse me??” He scoffed.
“She’s my alpha. I’m not going to set boundaries with her long after I’ve had her. You’re the newcomer into this palace, not her.” Minji let out a growl, watching the suitor take a cautious step back. “Now, you can accept my decision, and leave in the morning with your dignity, or you can walk out of here, mauled,” she threatened.
“You wouldn’t dare,” He glared at her.
“I wouldn’t?” Minji chuckled before snapping her fingers, watching Siyeon stand up, already baring her teeth and growling. “All it takes is one word,” she whispered.
Siyeon took a step forward, watching as the suitor took a step back. The alpha could smell his scent turning to pure fear and she was thriving on it. Thriving that she could be like this again.
“Fine. But the entire country will know what kind of princess you are,” He glared before leaving.
Minji didn’t care what her image was. She didn’t want idiot omegas coming in and trying to barrel their way into her life and change it. She hated it. Hated that they never listened and never had one thought about her other than her status as a royal.
“He’s so annoying!” Siyeon snarled after he was gone.
“Very,” Minji agreed quietly before standing up. “Let’s retire to bed… I’m exhausted,” she sighed.
The bedroom was warm, the only light being from the fireplace as the princess climbed into the bed. Siyeon frowned as she watched, unsure if she should join her. So she sat on the floor, eyes fixed on the stone flooring.
“Are you not joining me?” Minji frowned.
“He leaves tomorrow… which means I go back to my room,” Siyeon mumbled.
She was enjoying the game they were playing. Enjoying being close to Minji. And it was going to end after this suitor left and go back to how it was beforehand. The princess would look sad and the alpha would be entirely confused.
Going back to being called ‘my guard’ instead of my alpha was going to hurt, but it was what she thought. What she thought would happen. She wasn’t allowed to be much else. She was just a stupid, aggressive alpha. Meant to be a pet. Just like Minji said.
The princess made her way over, tugging at Siyeon’s shirt collar before she took the hint and climbed into the bed. The alpha still felt rejected, barely moving until Minji made her way into her arms.
The omega finally smelt Siyeon’s scent and felt comfortable. Everything about her was comforting. From how she protected her without a second thought to moments in her study to now.
“You’re not leaving me,” Minji whispered. “I don’t want you to leave.” She held onto the alpha tighter, snuggling deeper into her.
