Chapter 11
Siyeon had been patient with the omega after that. Going on walks had been much better. Bora kept her distance, not wanting to scare the other alpha, but when they got together again, it didn’t seem to bother the younger one much. It seemed to just make them closer.
“How are you feeling?” Minji asked her sister. It had been a few weeks since the incident and Yoohyeon had been staying in her room to try and recover from the entire thing.
“Better. Bora has been glued to my side ever since I let her out of the room,” Yoohyeon sighed. “I don’t blame her… When she caught my scent she nearly went after father herself…” She whispered.
“I don’t blame her either… I was… surprised Siyeon defended me…” Minji whispered.
“I pleaded with her…” Yoohyeon frowned. “She’s very loyal,” She whispered.
“Very… I didn’t think we had any kind of connection… But she nosed my neck… I don’t know what that means,” She frowned.
“Oh, she probably smelled fear. She’s used to your other scent and was probably looking for it. Bora does that,” Yoohyeon smiled. “It makes me feel safe and it helps her calm down,” she sighed.
“Really?” Minji frowned.
“Mhm, makes me feel loved,” she giggled. “You can smell Siyeon’s scent right?” She asked.
“Yeah, it’s… it’s kind of like a burnt metal…” Minji frowned.
“No, not her fear scent,” Yoohyeon laughed. “Her natural scent,” She smiled.
“Then no… I haven’t… been around her when she’s calm…” She frowned.
“She smells like a river,” Yoohyeon explained.
“How are you so good at smelling?!” Minji frowned.
“This pup has amplified so much.” The younger omega patted her small bump gently, allowing the older one to glance down. “That’s why I can catch scents before anyone else,” she smiled. “But it smells nice,” She shrugged.
The two watched their alphas continue to walk through the flower fields, talking about various things in the distance. Minji could see the serious face on Siyeon, and frowned. She wanted her to have a good time, not still be upset that she was here.
“Do you think I should find a way to release her back to her family?” Minji frowned. “I don’t think she’ll ever love me…”
“Father might hunt her down and kill her if you do that,” Yoohyeon mumbled before sitting on the bench they found. “She may not love you, but she has a connection since she nosed you,” she pointed.
“Right…” Minji let out a sigh, shaking her head.
It was another long week, and Minji decided to stay longer with Siyeon. She had been there for nearly two months and by now Yoohyeon had been dragging Bora everywhere and spent every waking moment together.
“Why am I here?” Siyeon asked one night.
“Hm?” Minji turned her head toward the alpha, gaze breaking from her book.
“Why did you purchase me?” The alpha asked. She was seated on the floor, looking up at the omega that was perched in the bed.
“Companionship… mostly,” Minji shrugged her shoulders.
“I can’t give you pups…”
“I’m aware.”
“You still… keep me around…”
“Siyeon… I don’t wish to entertain suitors anymore. I entertained several before taking a break and then I decided to purchase you,” Minji explained. “I don’t care much for having pups, or being with an omega that doesn’t know his ass from his head.” She heard a new sound, glancing over at the alpha who let out a small laugh. “Are you laughing?” She smiled.
“It’s nice to hear an omega has the same views as an alpha,” Siyeon chuckled.
“I don’t let status get in the way of good people. But… I do like you. You have a nice face… and Yoohyeon told me what your scent smells like… I’ve never smelled it… only your fear scent…” Minji sighed. “But you’re good to me,” she smiled.
Siyeon tilted her head, looking back down at the floor before standing up. She got closer to the omega and held her arm out.
“Smell,” Siyeon whispered.
Minji was shocked at her boldness. But she did lean forward and sniffed the alpha’s wrist, catching the scent Yoohyeon spoke of.
“My fear scent is… overwhelming… and I was dirty,” Siyeon whispered. “Now that I’ve been clean… You can smell it more,” she sighed.
“I didn’t know your scent gets masked when you haven’t been washed properly,” Minji frowned.
“It does. My scent isn’t powerful like it should be,” she shrugged while moving to sit back on the floor.
“Can you sit with me? On the bed?” Minji quickly asked her.
“Really?” Siyeon asked, watching her nod her head.
It was odd to sit at the same level as the omega, but Siyeon didn’t feel uncomfortable. She wasn’t content either. She was indifferent. Everything about the omega was strange but in a good way.
“Your father… is different from the omegas I’ve seen…” Siyeon whispered.
“He’s protective of us… Born from an alpha and an omega duo,” Minji explained. “So he has alpha tendencies…” She frowned.
“Ah… makes sense… but he still stood down from me…” Siyeon frowned.
“He knows he’s too old to fight,” Minji smiled. “And looking at you, I would be afraid too,” she whispered.
Siyeon looked down at her body. She didn’t think it was terrifying.
“Bora got you good…” Minji frowned, reaching out to touch the alpha’s cheek. She saw the still healing claw mark on her neck, causing Siyeon to shift so Minji wouldn’t see it.
“I deserved it,” Siyeon mumbled.
“Well… you did snarl at her pregnant mate,” Minji chuckled. “I won’t deny you didn’t deserve it,” She smiled.
The omega rested her hand on Siyeon’s cheek, feeling her skin just a little better this time. Her thumb grazed over the few scars before she locked eyes with her.
“I…” Siyeon looked away, frowning as she sighed.
“You don’t have to not look at me… I would rather you did.”
Siyeon shook her head, closing her eyes before letting out a shaky breath. She felt the breaking feeling again and she didn’t want it to break in front of the omega. She couldn’t. She couldn’t show this self to her. She couldn’t cave like this.
“What are you thinking about?” Minji asked.
Siyeon sighed, letting her head drop fully into Minji’s hand. It felt nice just to have this contact, and it felt warm. Her hands were soft, and everything about her was just soft…
“Your hands are soft…” Siyeon whispered without opening her eyes.
The omega was a little taken back at the thought, happy that she was talking but didn’t expect her to just out and say something like that.
“I like soft,” She continued before nuzzling into her hand.
Minji couldn’t help but smile, happy that she was seeing this side of the alpha instead of the rugged, aggressive version of herself. She was smiling, happy to be in that moment.
“I don’t want to ruin your little moment… But I saw you sleeping in the bed a while ago…” Minji smiled. “It’s comfortable… Right?” She asked her.
Siyeon stopped nuzzling her hand, pulling back slightly before sitting up straight again. Almost immediately her soft, fuzzy side was gone, and her indifferent side was out yet again.
“It is…” The alpha muttered.
“We’re alone Siyeon… You don’t have to be something you aren’t,” Minji whispered. “I won’t tell anyone you’re this adorable,” She smiled.
“I’m not adorable,” Siyeon glared.
“No, because you rubbing your face all over my hand wasn’t adorable at all,” Minji blinked. “Not at all cute and cuddy of you.” She couldn’t help but chuckle, watching the alpha scoff before letting out a tiny growl. “You don’t scare me anymore,” She whispered.
Siyeon stopped, eyes going wide at the omega’s words. No one had ever uttered those words to her. At least no one had said those words and meant it.
“Why?” Siyeon frowned.
“You’ve gotten between me and my father… You protected me.”
They continued their conversation late into the night, Minji stifled a yawn while Siyeon was thriving listening to her read the book out loud to her. When her words started to slur, Siyeon glanced up at the omega, seeing her fighting sleep.
“You’re sleepy,” Siyeon whispered.
“I must be getting tired…” Minji mumbled. “But you aren’t… You need to be tired… Look at the moon,” She frowned while looking out the window. “I’ll stay awake. I’ll keep reading to you,” She whispered.
It only lasted a few more minutes, and Minji ultimately fell asleep while reading. Siyeon was busy looking at the different things under the bed and frowned when she didn’t hear the omega’s soft words. She popped out from under the bed, seeing the omega already asleep with the book still in hand. She really didn’t know what to do, so she stayed still, listening to her breathing for a while instead of moving.
She eventually pulled the book out of Minji’s hand and set it aside before pulling the blankets back best she could and got Minji under the covers and laying down in the bed.
“There,” Siyeon whispered. She watched the omega get more comfortable in her sleep, allowing the alpha to feel just a little happy. She liked the omega. She was kind… And she smelled nice. “I’ll protect you.” She blew out the candle and took her usual spot on the floor, looking out the window to see the moon high in the sky.
As much as she wanted to go home and see her family… This place was growing on her.
