Chapter 3
Minji circled the alpha, looking her up and down before looking back at Yoohyeon.
“She’s rather small,” Minji sighed. “But she is gorgeous.” She placed her hand under the alpha’s chin, admiring her features. “Strikingly gorgeous actually… How much was she worth?” She asked.
“Father had to pay two rubies and an emerald for Bora…” Yoohyeon frowned, watching her sister nearly gawk at the price.
“What!?” Minji nearly screamed. “Why are you so expensive?!” She gasped.
“Father also said she was a standard alpha…” the younger added quietly.
“Standard alpha… Oh…” Minji chuckled as her cheeks flushed red. “An anomaly… A female presenting alpha with the ability to reproduce… For a princess that is ideal,” The older omega smiled.
“She also wishes to go outside! She likes the sky unnie!” Yoohyeon smiled. “And she’s gorgeous… Which means she has to be graceful right?” She tilted her head, watching her sister shrug her shoulders. “I really like her unnie… What do you think of her?” She asked.
“Well… Given I’m only admiring her outward looks right now…” Minji sighed while making her final circle around the alpha. “I think she’s a charming match for you,” She chuckled. “Time will tell if you two will make status of course…” She frowned.
“We will. I’m sure of it.” Yoohyeon was determined. She really did like Bora and didn’t want to take on omega suitors.
Minji watched her sister from a distance, watching how she interacted with the alpha, showing her various things. It was almost as if they were clicking instantly and it made her heart warm at the sight. Yoohyeon was doing everything in her power to get this alpha to understand their ways and lives… Yes, she was blowing off her usual duties, but she was focusing on her future.
“Admiring what you could be having with a suitor you didn’t push out the door?”
Minji turned to see her mother standing behind her, giving her a curious look.
“Mother… None of them were to my standard…” Minji pouted. “All of them were selfish… Arrogant… Nothing like you and father,” She whispered.
“You never gave them any chances other than the first day… Darling, you need to give them time,” She whispered.
“The first day is where all of the impressions lie… They wouldn’t shut up about themselves… Talking of different battles they had led, how they were in combat, nothing of things I’m even remotely interested in… It was almost as if they were talking to father rather than me,” She grumbled.
“Well, your father is a bit thick-headed, isn’t he?” The queen chuckled. “But boys will be boys in the art of never shutting up about themselves…” She sighed. “After I accepted your father’s proposal he wouldn’t stop boasting about how great he was. I almost called off the entire wedding,” Her mother chuckled.
“I assume he learned since we are here to this day,” Minji smiled.
“Oh yes, he learned very quickly that my temper was not a force to be reckoned with,” Her mother laughed.
Minji let out a sigh, settling down in one of the plush chairs. Her smile had started to fade, and her laughter had certainly died down.
“What plagues your mind?” the queen asked.
“Another suitor is arriving tomorrow… I’m not sure I want to entertain them…” Minji frowned. “At least not alone…” She frowned.
“Well… You must… You know the courtship rules,” Her mother sighed. “Have you even bothered to know their scents?” She asked.
“One smelled of lemons,” Minji frowned. “I do not wish to smell lemons for the rest of my life,” She muttered.
“And the others?” She asked.
“Far too sweet for my liking… Mother, what does this have to do with anything?” She asked.
“Have you ever known what your scent is to others?” The queen asked, watching the princess shake her head. “Your scent must be compatible with your mate… Your father’s scent is compatible with mine, and therefore created yours and Yoohyeon’s scents.” She smiled.
“You said mine smelled of the spring…” Minji frowned.
“It smells of the first bloomed cherry blossoms of spring,” her mother smiled. “And when you are upset… it smells of burning wood, an unpleasant scent that comes with the negative emotion…” She whispered.
Minji looked down at her hands, knowing just exactly what she smelled like to others now. A delicate scent that was easy to miss if you didn’t pay attention. But her parents knew what she smelled of. Which was nice to know.
“And you know Yoohyeon’s very well,” The queen sighed. “I’m afraid I don’t know what this alpha smells of…” She frowned.
“She smells sharp… Like… chocolate that has yet to be met with the sweet,” Minji explained.
“Ah… So Yoohyeon’s sweet scent will mix perfectly with hers.” The queen let out a hum, settling in one of the nearby chairs.
“Mother… Why didn’t you tell me to pay attention to scents before? Is it very important to know this?” Minji frowned.
“Scent compatibility is a factor to consider when finding a mate. For example, with Yoohyeon and this alpha. If they were to become bound together and mated, their offspring would have the blend of their scents in the beginning. Leaving a footprint for the offspring to create a scent that is all their own. With Yoohyeon’s sweet, sugary scent… Mixing with the sharp, chocolate scent, the pup could have a rather sweet smell to them. Which would be enticing to many suitors when they become of age.” her mother explained. “But all of this won’t happen… Unless Yoohyeon takes to her scent. Once she takes to her scent… Of course, you know what happens,” She chuckled.
“She meets status and is able to proceed in the process. I understand the dynamic mother,” The younger omega sighed. “I will pay attention to the suitor's scent… But only if you promise one thing…” She whispered.
“And what is that my dear?” the queen frowned.
“If this suitor does not work out… I wish to have a break from meeting these idiots… I want to meet with the oracle and review my choices… And ask if purchasing an alpha would be an option in my future,” Minji explained.
“You must try with this last suitor then. Do not just decide you do not like them after your initial conversation.” The queen pointed a finger at her daughter, watching her nod her head in agreement.
“Understood.”
