Summary
Thoth has a young Avatar, which isn't much of a problem. It annoys the god however when his Avatar decides to go make chaos, whether intentionally or not. He is also not the biggest fan of his Avatar getting into dangerous situations almost every day it seems, but he will deal with it because he was grown fond of his young Avatar and would see them happy from doing good than to leave their side. The first chapter is an intro, and then we get into more of the characters! This is going to be a lot like my other Thoth Avatar work, but this one is going to be a reader insert and first person.

Look What The Ibis Dragged In

After fighting alongside the Avengers I was exhausted. Fights like that don’t happen every day, and even though they happen semi-regularly on other planets I don’t often interfere in them. I keep caught up on my strength training at the gym, but that doesn’t mean that fighting for my life is any less exhausting. I was very ready to go straight to bed and get some sleep that I very much deserve when my friend and roommate stopped me in my tracks.

“Where were you? You know that Thoth wanted you to check in with me before you head out places, remember.” Nathan reminds me. I groan before sighing, not because I’m exasperated with him, no, but because of my exasperation with my god. He often asks Nathan to keep tabs on me if he has to go to a meeting with other gods. Nathan is one of my best friends, which isn’t very hard with how few friends I have, and I know he cares about me and where I go so I gather up the energy to tell him where I was. I don’t manage to get much energy together, but it’s enough for one sentence.

“I was in helping in the battle against aliens.” I get out before I continue trudging to my room. He took my answer and decided not to ask any other questions, I guess I look that exhausted. He’ll probably try to search for what happened soon, which will quickly tell him everything he wants to know about where I was and what happened as well as what Thoth will want to know. He would quickly find out that I had fought alongside the Avengers in New York, realize we’re just barely far enough to have been out of the damage range, about the chituari and leviathans, and the Asgardians. When I get to my room I quickly changed into some soft and very comfy sleepwear before practically collapsing on my bed.

Eventually, I wake up to Thoth gently nudging me. “My little magi,” Thoth murmurs in a soft voice he reserves only for me, continuing to say, “You must get up.” I groan tiredly and slowly peek my eyes open at my god. He smiles at me, eyes bright, before he offers me his hand to encourage me to get up. I tiredly bat his away hand away from me before slowly sitting up on my bed and looking up at Thoth, squinting my eyes at him in annoyance. I was still very tired and really didn’t want to get up yet.

“You need to work on your case, and probably take a shower,” Thoth calmly says to me while wandering over to my room door. “I suggest a shower first, that way there might be some food ready so you can start working with energy.” I groan louder this time before wandering my way over to my dresser. With it being obvious that I’m going to take a shower first Thoth leaves me alone, probably going to see what Nathan is doing and ask him to make some food. I smile, Nathan and Thoth have gotten a lot closer since he moved in with me which I’m glad. It would really suck if Thoth didn’t like Nathan with Nathan being pretty much the only other person to be able to see him, thanks to my magic. I also know that I can count on Nathan if I need a hand, he has proven that over the year and a half that he’s lived with me and even before that when we were just friends.

As I showered I thought about what I’ll need to do today. I need to eat something, but after that I’ll need to see what proof we have for the case we’re currently working on. A few weeks ago I hired a private investigator to help with gathering evidence that I can use in court, which should have been delivered by now. Those pictures will be the nail in the coffin for the case.

I shut off the shower and quickly start drying off, which doesn’t take too long, before heading into my room for a short moment to get dressed. When I’m ready for the day I leave my room and see Thoth perched on a bar stool next to the counter before I look over to the sink when I hear the sound of water draining, seeing Nathan strain some macaroni noodles. I take a seat at the small circle table we use as a dining table while I wait for Nathan to finish getting the Mac n’ Cheese ready. As soon as it’s almost ready I stand up to get myself a bowl before Nathan tells me to sit down. I stand for a moment and watch Nathan and I only sit when I see him grab two bowls from the cupboard and two spoons from the drawer. I quickly thank Nathan as he sets my bowl in front of me and I start eating. Thoth watches as Nathan starts eating before going over the new information of our case while we eat. Thoth seems content, just sitting at the counter and watching. I wonder for a moment if he’d ever had the opportunity to sit and eat in the past before Nathan draws my attention back to the case.

“So, right now the mom is saying there’s a conspiracy against her, and that her ex-husband has bribed the police and multiple doctors,” Nathan tells me with a bored tone, scanning over her statement as well as the pictures Jessica dropped off for us. I chuckle, and it’s obvious that Nathan doesn’t believe there is any chance of there being a conspiracy. Why would there be a conspiracy against one insignificant person? As well, we’re representing the father, which I would never do if there was a conspiracy trying to separate children from the more responsible parent. We have this in the bag, I know it.
