See you again

It was almost painful just how much Miles liked Hobie, it was too fast for many. But the situation that he was placed in seemed far too perfect. It had been a long time since Miles had been subjected to such an intense crush. For Miles crushes normally took their time to fester and build up but for Hobie it was different.

It was full force, moving at the speed of light and it was making Miles feel insane. The other reason why this was so hard was the fact that Hobie wasn’t stagnant, he was actively making remarks and in fact making most of the moves, not even allowing Miles to daydream because he was making them a reality. However the things that worried Miles the most was the fact that he was getting mixed messages from Hobie, it was a constant nag in his mind whether Hobie was just that kind of person or he was actually interested.

Whenever Miles would move his hand away to reach for something Hobie would wait patiently and hold his hand again, which meant Mieles was hopelessly reaching for things to check if the theory was true, but no matter how many times he did it Hobie would grasp his hand back into his. Hobie would slump down so he could allow Miles to lean his head on him more comfortably and make sure that he was alright throughout the movie that they would watch on the screen.

And everytime they would make eye contact they would hold it for a few moments, as though they were trying to read one another eyes like a book, Miles couldn’t help but notice just how blown Hobie’s pupils were as he would gaze, and he was sure he read somewhere that  was a good thing. Hobie also now made a habit of resting his head on Miles which meant when they looked at a on another to share a knowing look they were in such close proximity that Miles could feel light headed.

“That guy is a fucking opp*,I don’t get why he’s so pressed*,  he's just trying to smoke* everyone for no reason,” the malicious words had no bite as they were drawn out sleepily or calmly.Miles couldn’t tell. Miles hummed in agreement seeing as he wasn’t able to nod. Hobie’s voice had a rasp of sleepiness in it and it was hot to say the least. He probably would have been more swooned by it if he wasn’t so tired.

“Yeah, he’s doing too much,”

Ladies and Gentlemen, this is your Captain speaking, we are due to arrive in London at 7:29pm Local Time, in a short notice you will be asked to return to your seats as we make way for landing, the weather is quite chilly at 6 degrees so be sure to put on a layer. I hope you’ve had a comfortable flight due to our amazing cabin crew. I wish you a good night in London.

Miles glanced at the time, they had 30 minutes, 30 minutes before he would have to wave good goodbye and pretend like nothing happened while his heart screamed for something seemingly so (impossible). Mikes felt Hobie’s grip on his had goes tighter.

“It’s not long left,” Hobie sighs as his eyes transfixed on the time that was only now starting to move faster.

“Yeah,”

“It was a long flight,”

“Yeah,” Not long enough

They remained seated the same way, close together , neither one wanting to let go. It was silent for a while as though a perpetration to more the loss.

“Miles, I’m scared,” the sentence took Miles aback as he tried to think about the reasons why Hobie would say such a thing, the movie? The plane? The flight attendants?

“Why?”

“Cuz I don’t know if I’m gonna see you again,” Hobie sniffed after he said that and Miles could feel the way Hobie’s head lowered down to look at their joined hands. Miles felt a lump form in his throat, there was no way he was possibly going to cry about this but the way Hobie spoke in his voice it seemed almost impossible that he wouldn’t.

“Hobie-,”

“I’m sorry Miles, but I think- I’m so fucked,” Hobie tilted his head back to regain his composure and Miles didn’t know if it was the tiredness or the overwhelming amount of feeling that where being felt. And he thought, maybe for the first time, he wouldn’t be the only one.

“You’re just so perfect and I-,”

Miles could barely formulate words as he could feel a tear fall , the way Hobie looked at him like he was prepared to give him anything in the world was making him feel like constellations are forming in his stomach.   Miles finally understood what it felt like to be so sure that someone was your soulmate, that the universe made special effort just to ensure that you crossed paths.

“Please tell me I'm gonna see you again,” Hobie’s voice was reduced to a whisper as he lay his head back down on Miles’ for a few moments before they both turned their heads so that they were looking at each other. Miles’ head manoeuvred in such a way that it was still on Hobie's shoulder but that he could look up and see the way Hobie bowed his head. As though he was the only thing that Miles could see in their own little universe.

“I don’t think I could stay away from you if I tried,” Miles admitted hopelessly and Hobie smiled when he heard that reaching a hand up to brush a tear from Miles’ cheek. He left his hand there resting on Miles cheek, and Miles felt it - warm…

“These people probably think we’re crazy,” Hobie said, still not moving away from where he hovered over Miles.

“We are a little crazy,” Miles concluded, a gentle tug  reaching his lips.

“That’s good then, cuz I won’t feel bad,”

For wha-

Hobie’s lips were warm, the cool of his lip ring cool contradicting them as they pressed against Miles’. He could feel the quirk in Hobie’s lips in a small smile and Miles almost pulled back right then and there to gush about just how much he loved it when Hobie smiled like that, his chin moving up to meet Hobie’s. The kiss balanced on Hobie’s shoulder as though if it wasn’t supported it would fall like a delicate rose and shatter into many pieces. It was euphoric the way it was like everything else cancelled and it was just them together. It was simple but Miles felt like he was going to fly with the way his heart sang and how Hobie pressed them together as though they could somehow become one, but in a way Miles supposed that they did at that very moment.

They pulled away ever so slightly so there noses are almost touching their voices low like whispers just for the other to hear. Miles could see up close the gleam in Hobie’s eyes as he pulled away and he was sure there was in his. The highlight of purple and white, as the subtle lights of the late night of London casted over their faces, reflecting in the shiny pools of water that caressed the eyes.

“Look at us, crying like idiots,” Miles said and Hobie agreed with a hum

“Or just hopeless romantics,” Hobie snarked back and Miles felt the Hobie he was familiar with dripping back. Miles just smirks and compiles playing with their interlocked fingers.

“Yeah I like that one better,”

Hobie pulled out his phone, swiping for the camera, he put an arm around Miles and pressed their cheeks together. Making Miles giddy with joy.

“To hopeless romantics,” he said like he was toasting.

To hopeless romantics,”

Miles definitely wants the pictures where Hobie kissed his cheek.
