Talks

"Hey, you got any plans for the art project?" "I..think so? Gonna be honest, I got paired up with Ganke, so I kinda have to do all the project." "Yikes." You sigh out, digging into your backpack for your binder. "What about you?" "Oh, I got some stuff. Not as impressive as your work but..I can make it work for right now." You pull out the binder, silently cursing as papers spill out of it, and you go to pick them up sheepishly as Miles opens it up. "They're..they're just sketches right now, and I haven't even picked a major theme for the project yet so, uhm yeah." Most of the sketches contained people he's seen, like your parents and your friends. "Pretty sure I want to have the theme be people I respect or..or like." You say as you get back up, scooting closer to Miles and leaning on his shoulder to admire your art alongside him. "Surprised there isn't none of Spider-Man in this bad boy." You immediately flush and bring yourself away from his shoulders, to which Miles breaks with laughter. "Oh my God! You do! I've gotta see this." "No! Miles, don't." You try to sound serious, staring at him with feigned frustration before going back to his side in mere seconds to look as he flips to the next page. "Oh, my dad helped me with that one." You point towards a drawing on the left, one where he was perched up near a window. Most of the page was filled with drawings and sketches of Miles' hero persona, from small doodles to drawings that took up a good chunk of the page. "Wow, you draw him a..lot." "Mmm, I guess. My dad keeps asking if I like him or something." You mutter, pushing yourself further into Miles. He felt like holding his breath, it felt different now, knowing how you saw Spider-Man, or well, him. "What's up?" "Huh? What..what do you mean 'what's up', nothing's up!" You push yourself up and huff. "Come on, Miles. I know how you get when you think too hard." His throat feels like it tightened at your words. "You can tell me anything, you know that? It won't change the fact that you're my friend." His throat does tighten at your words, and he lets out a breath he didn't know he had tucked away. Was this going to be the right move, telling you about his identity? Would you still admire Spider-Man, still see him as someone worth the title of a hero, if you knew he was a 15 year old teen who couldn't even tell his parents? "Miles! God, man, you're freaking me out. I can go if you're not feeling good anymore." You suggest, going ahead and slinging your bag over your shoulder before Miles stops you by standing up suddenly. "No! Uhm, ahem. No. Everything's cool, everything's..I just have a lot to tell you. On the roof top."

"You're pulling my fucking leg, Miles." You say, eyes a bit wide at his claim. "No, I'm serious, [Y/N]! I'm Spider-Man, the..the guy who got bit by a radioactive spider and all that." You only raise an eyebrow. "I can show you!" He offers his hand quickly, a nervous smile on his face as you take time to react. Shock turns into neutrality before switching into disbelief, and it feels suffocating to wait for a verbal answer, until you wrap your arms around Miles. He only has to take your sudden interest in physical touch as a yes, and he starts to to latch his webs onto the nearest buildings to swing.

"So, my best friend's Spider-Man." You sighed out once your feet hit the ground. "Yeah." "What's it like? Being..Spider-Man?" You ask, and Miles perks up, then deflates with a tiny chuckle. "Hectic, stressful, but also fun? I can't tell my mom or dad about it, and Ganke's no help, but-" "You told Ganke before you told me? I'm offended!" "He..he just found out while I was meeting up with other Spider-Men! Dude was in the wrong place at the wrong time." You roll your eyes at his words and playfully nudge him. "You're lucky I love you enough to forgive you, Miles. Now, continue going on about how cool it is to be a mutant teen." He ignores your snide remark and continues talking, face softening. "I..found out there were more people like me. More people who..who understand and who go through their own struggles. You remember when I told you about Gwen? She was one of them. She.." "She left." He nods, and you place a hand on his shoulder. "Enough about that, though! What's happening with you? Your parents barely tell me anything." "Oh, well. It's been okay. My sister's doing good, too. I'm trying to convince my mom to let me take out my braids-" "No." "Yes, I wanted to try a new style for eons now!" "But you look so good with braids!" "Mhm, but besides that.."

Miles felt nice, being out here with you on the top of this building. You had your head on his shoulder, the silence comfortable between the two of you. "Hey, Miles. You know that you being Spider-Man still doesn't change anything?" "I know." "Good, and don't forget it, too. I don't know what I'd do if you thought that you being a badass hero would change our relationship." He snorted at your words, letting his arm wrap around you in a fond gesture. "You're running the moment, [Y/N]."
