Canon
He didn't make it. Miles didn't make it in time.
"No, no no no no." His father, Jefferson Morales, was dead in his arms. His universe was in utter chaos, but Gwen and her team were handling it as of right now. "Dad. Dad, dad..please." Miles cried, pulling his mask up to look at his dad with blurry eyes. "No."
"Hey. Uhm, we got him." Gwen spoke, fingers messing with the fabric of the cardigan Hobie let her borrow. "Yeah, I..I can see that." Miles licked his lips, sucking in a breath before wiping his eyes again. "You'll..be okay, right?" "Yeah, Spider-Man's always okay." "Yeah, uh..say hi to [Y/N] for me. I miss him." With that, Gwen gave a simple hug, then went back to her team, but not without giving Miles one last look as he turned away. "Poor kid. Miguel was a dick for tryna hold 'im out on stoppin' the bloody Canon Event." Hobie muttered, rubbing his eyes in a tired movement as Peni nodded. "Let's..let's go, guys. I'm sure Miguel will be ecstatic to hear that the Canon Event went well."
"Miles! Where..where have you been?! God, I was so worried!" You rushed to his side when he entered your room, hair put in a messy ponytail that tickled his exposed face. Before Miles could properly answered, you kissed him everywhere you could, hands snug around his waist as he rubbed your shoulder. "Calm down, calm down. Missed you too, it's just..been rough." Miles said, letting you pull away from him long enough to look at his outfit. "Oh, what's up? You..went to a convention without me? You know, you could've told me! I lo-" "No, uh..no. Not that. It's about that villain. The Spot." You stared at Miles, confused.
"You're..?" "Yeah, I'm Spider-Man. Uh, sucks you have to find out this way..." You could only gasp in shock, letting small mumbles escape through your hands before standing up. "I..I need some time to process this." "Hey, that's fine. We'll get through this together, I-" "..We? Miles, I-I don't..I just. Does your mother even know about this yet?" "No, but she doesn't even know that my dad died, yet so-" You gasped even louder, warm tears sliding down your face now, and he couldn't help but try to scoop you into his arms at the mere thought of seeing you distraught. "I told you. We..we'll get through this together! This neat Spider Society, they..they. They'll help me- help us!" "I don't want help! I just want you and..and I don't want any of the bullshit that's happening! I didn't want your dad dying, I didn't want the possibility of our universe collapsing because your dad didn't die! I just...I just wanted you, and I want you to be safe." Your voice went quiet, somber and hoarse as you let out quiet sobs, curling up. Miles could only watch as he felt the weight of everything crush him like The Spot had crushed his dad. "I just want you, too. I didn't ask for this, I.." His own tears came back with a newfound vengeance as he seeked your warmth and affection. Miles curled up right next to you as you both cried, hand near yours. "But, we'll..we'll find this out. Together. Just you and me, yeah? That..sounds nice, right?" His voice shook as he looked at you, your own eyes red and puffy as you chewed your lip in frustration. Despite all of the conflicting feelings you had, you took his hand and held it, a small squeeze to tell him you understood him. "Yeah. That..that sounds great. Promise me you'll be safe..?" "I promise."
