Two Parallels
You didn't want to, but you guys knew you wouldn't make it.
"I'm sorry…" you couldn't help but mumble, struggling to keep the tears away as Hobie held his arms around your shoulders.
"I know. Me too." Hobie sighed, kissing your forehead before pulling away with a small, sad smile.
"Don't forget me once you get back there." Hobie teased as you laughed through your tears filled eyes, no hate to him, nothing but love for what he had given you in your time together.
"You too." You shook your head, Hobie cupped your cheek to brush away the tears, both of you fell silent, simply looking at each other.
It was hard to think you both wouldn't see each other again. After fighting so hard to stay with one another.
Neither of you belonged in the other's worlds, but fell in love with the idea of hoping you did and being together was possible.
But, reality doesn't like being ignored, and it will come back to hang you sooner or later.
You leaned forward to kiss Hobie one last time, closing your eyes as his hand slipped to the back of your neck, trying to keep you as close as possible for any time left.
It was hard to pull away, but you had too.
Hobie gave you a frown, trying not to let his own tears go before he gave a small smile to mirror yours, taking a moment before his hand fell, his touch lingering.
"Bye, (Name)." Hobie whispered, giving you his best smile he could give as you couldnf find it in yourself to smile, instead sniffling as you wiped your tears.
"Bye, Hobie." You whispered back, giving him one last smile before you turned around, pulling up your hood and walking towards your portal home.
Hobie watched you go, wanting nothing more than to hug you from behind and keep you with him for longer, but he knew that wasn't possible.
You turned around one last time, smiling as you waved at him before you faced your portal, slipping through.
And just like that, you were gone.
Gone from his life, but not gone from his mind or his heart.
Hobie watched the portal disappear, but couldn't help or find himself to even move a muscle.
Thinking that if he stayed long enough, you would come back to him.
But that didn't happen.
Reality wouldn't let it.

You practically ran down the street, avoiding bumping into people and being sent flying as you hurried, not wanting to be too late for once.

As you ran around a corner you made a mistake. You yelled in surprise as you collided with another body, managing to stay upright, which they didn't.
They were sent to the floor, groaning a bit in pain as you winced at your mistake, holding your head in pain.
"Sorry…" you grimaced, your sight a bit blurred from head-butting them before you held your hand out as your vision came back.

"No worries…." You could hear the one on the floor brush off, their own voice laced with pain as you felt their hand grab yours.
You pulled them up quickly, they almost were thrown into you but managed to stop, brushing themselves off as their hair fell in their face.
"Are you okay?" You asked, guilty as they waved a hand at you, lifting their head up for you to see a dismissive smile on their face, shocking you for a moment.

You stared in shock as you saw his face once again.
It had been so long since you had left, now you stared in the eyes and the ghost of your ex boyfriend.
Hobie seemingly didn't notice, brushing off his clothes and fixing himself up before he noticed your shocked stare.
"...Are you alright? Keep staring at me." Hobie noticed, giving you a weird look as you shook your head.
"Yeah…yeah, I'm fine." You shook your head, trying to play it off with a chuckle.
"What's your name?" Hobie asked, like he didn't know you at all. Well, he didn't, actually.
It saddened you a little bit, but you shook it off and plastered a smile on your face.
"(Name). You?"

"Hobie. Good to know the name of the one who almost tackled you." Hobie played off the situation into a joke before he made his way around you.
"It was nice meeting you, (Name)." Hobie smiled over his shoulder, turning around to walk away.
"Hopefully I'll see you again."
You slowly were forced to watch Hobie leave, maybe out of your life forever once more.
But you didn't want that.
You couldn't have that.
Not again.
"Hey, wait up!"

Hobie paused in his steps, looking back to see you jogging up to him quickly.
"Want company?" You asked once you made it as Hobie chuckled a little, shaking his head before he nodded.
Hobie stuffed his hand in his pockets, his guitar seing over his shoulder before you both walked in sync.
Maybe he wasn't your Hobie.
But as you looked at him and saw everything you once did in another time, you thought maybe that didn't matter.
Because at least, he was Hobie.
And God, you missed your Hobie.
