Summary
You haven't gotten to spend much time with Loki since the events of Ragnarök transpired. An evening in with a good book is just what the doctor ordered, but alone time is hard to come by when your future brother-in-law likes playing third wheel.
Note
Finally back into writing!!! After three months it seems right to start back up on my birthday, oh yeah, it's my birthday by the way! No negativity allowed on my special day!

“Mm. This is nice.” Closing your eyes you leaned further back into the plush wing back chair you were currently occupying. This was the first chance you’d had to be alone with Loki since the events of Ragnarök. Loki smiled from his spot across from you on the couch and reopened the book you two had started months before.

“Are you really sure you are comfortable over there, pet?” You opened your eyes to find him staring at you with a sly expression.

“Yeah, I’m pretty comfortable, why?” Patting the arms of the chair you gave him a confused look. With a shrug he turned his attention back to the worn book in his hands.

“No reason my dove.” Running his finger down the page, Loki began in his low measured tone. Closing your eyes again, you snuggled into the plush of the chair and sighed. As Loki continued, you noticed that his voice was getting quieter and quieter until you could barely hear him.

“Loki, I can’t hear a word you’re saying.” Furrowing your brows, you leaned forward and narrowed your eyes at the twitch of the corner of his mouth. “Son of Odin, you are teasing me!” Loki’s eyes shot up to meet yours.

“And if I am?” Marking his spot with his finger, Loki leaned forward matching your position. Meeting his look of challenge, you slowly rose from your spot and rounding the coffee table that had been separating you. Leaning down, you ran a finger down his nose and found yourself fighting a chuckle at his visible shiver.

“If you wanted me to sit beside you all you had to do was ask, pet.” Folding your legs underneath yourself, you took a moment to get comfortable and rested your arm across the back of the couch. “You may continue.” You said with an imperial flick of your wrist to punctuate your words. With a roll of his eyes, Loki covered his heart with his hand and gave you a mock bow.

“Yes, your majesty, thank you, your majesty.” Opening the book, he gave you a sideways glance. “Anything else you’d like, your majesty?” Cocking your head to the side, you gave Loki the warmest smile you could muster.

“An Early Grey tea would be lovely.” Loki chuckled and flicked his own wrist. A steaming mug of your requested beverage appeared in your hands. With an appreciative sigh, you wrapped your hands around the mug and snuggled into Loki’s side, resting your head on his shoulder.

“Content?” His voice rumbled into your ear as he wrapped an arm around your shoulders and leaned his head against yours.

“Quite.” You smiled lazily and snuggled closer into his side. Reopening the book, he began reading and thankfully you could hear him clearly. The moment was perfect.

“Lok! Brother!”

Was Perfect.

The door was violently flung open as Thor came tearing in, clearly on the hunt for Loki. You jerked away from Loki, and in the process upset your cup, spilling scalding liquid all over your lap.

“Ow!” You hissed in pain, wiping furiously at the growing wet spot on your pants. Loki looked from you to Thor and narrowed his eyes.

“Look what you’ve done you clumsy oaf.” He hissed, jumping up from the couch.

“I’m sorry, Y/N.” Thor looked at you over his brothers shoulder, concern lacing his features. “Are you alright?”

“I’m fine, Thor, thank you.” Looking up, you gave him a weak smile. Loki raised a finger and opened his mouth. “Loki.” Closing his eyes, Loki shook his finger in his brother’s direction before turning to look at you.

“Yes, darling?” In the time it took Loki to turn towards you, Thor quickly exited the door, closing it with a resounding thud.

“Thank you, Y/N, I shall repay your kindness another day!” His voice could be heard thundering down the hallway as he made a hasty retreat. Loki narrowed his eyes and folded his arms.

“You meant to protect him, you little minx.”

“He is your brother.” You flashed him an apologetic smile and shrugged. With a shake of his head and a chuckle, Loki came to stand toe to toe with you and bent to examine your face.

“How about we get you out of those wet things?”

“If it wouldn’t be too much trouble.” Loki extended his hand, and you reached yours out expecting him to help you up, only for him to snap his fingers. Suddenly your soggy clothes were replaced by a lovely dark green lounge set.

“I must say, my dear, green really is your color.”
