Â
You were panting heavily as you leaned against the wall. The fight's been going on for hours now, yet your opponent didn't seem to tire. You fiddled with your watch, trying to call Lyla for a backup.
Â
"What's up, Y/n?" She appeared in front of you.
Â
"Call..." You sighed.
Â
"What? I can't understand."
Â
You squinted your eyes, trying to regain a clear vision. Lyla pursed her lips, looking at your defeated state. Slowly, your legs gave up and you slumped down on the floor.
Â
"I will send him over, stay where you are!" Lyla warned and hung up. You couldn't focus anymore, but the thought that he was coming for you gave you goosebumps. When Miguel was called over, it never ended well. He's like a ticking bomb, you touched a sensitive topic and he explodes.
Â
Suddenly, you heard rumbling beneath. It could mean two things; the one and only O'hara came for your rescue, or your opponent gave up and decided to destroy the whole building with you in it.
Â
After a while, your breathing became steady again, but you were on the edge of passing out. The rumbling also got louder, and soon the floor under you broke. Hard rocks fell on you, and you fell on the solid ground. With no will to crawl out, you stayed put and held into your dear ring.
Â
'How silent...'
Â
"Y/n?... Y/n!..."
Â
You slowly regained consciousness to a continuous beeping sound beside you. You were lying on a soft and clean bed in a small room with an IV connected to your arm. The bed creaked as you sat up, looking around. A vase was placed on a desk next to your bed, with a flower in it. The world seemed to quiet down as you tried to remember what happened.
Â
"Rise and shine," a familiar female voice spoke.
Â
"J-" you coughed hard. Jessica handed you a glass of cold water, and you gulped it down in one go. "Hi,"
Â
"Heard you were hospitalized. To tell the truth, you got me real worried." She sat down in a chair and placed her hands on your thighs. "The surgery went great though."
Â
"What surgery?" Looking down, you felt nauseous. You couldn't feel anything from your knees on your right side. "Where are my legs?" You panicked and touched the soft part where it was cut off.
Â
"You don't remember?" Jessica sighed and frowned. "You were under the ruins when Miguel found you. He almost couldn't get your ass out."
Â
You only noticed that you were shaking when Jessica grasped your hands. Tears stung your eyes, your vision became hazy once again. You couldn't find the right words, all you could do was babble nonsense. The woman gave you a comforting hug to ease the pain.
Â
The door swung open and a doctor came in with your savior following him.
Â
"How are you feeling, Y/n?" The doctor asked as he started checking your now-amputated leg.
Â
"Not good." You gulped as Miguel stared at you.
Â
"You will be fine in a few weeks. You were knocked out for 2 weeks. Can I ask what happened?"
Â
"Just a little fight."
Â
"Little?!" Miguel snapped and run his fingers through his hair in anger.
Â
"Sir, I think it would be best if I was the only person with Y/n-"
Â
"You were so selfish that you couldn't even call for help! You almost got yourself killed, and your enemy escaped. What were you thinking?" The man continued.
Â
"I'm sure it wasn't his fault. He's one of our best men here." Jessica fought back making Miguel's eye twitch. "Let's go outside." She waved and they left the room.
Â
"So... Am I getting my legs back?" Hope dies last, you thought. The doctor let out a chuckle.
Â

Â
After the consultation, you were left alone with your thoughts.
Â
'Will I be able to continue to work? What if Miguel kicks me out? No, no... He can't do that...'
Â
A knock disturbed your train of thought.
"Can I come in?" A deep voice asked behind the door. Without getting an answer, Miguel let himself in. He looked tired and guilty.
You fidgeted with your ring as he stepped closer.
Â
"How are you feeling?" You asked as he sat down on your bed.
Â
"I'm sorry... I'm sorry." He took your hands and brought them to his lips. "I don't know what would've happened if I came a second later."
Â
"I'm okay now, aren't I? I just... Lost a limb."
Â
He sat closer and started caressing your face as he told the whole story, though you were focusing on your next question. Will you kick me out?
Â
"Miguel,"
Â
"Darling?"
Â
"Am I going to get kicked out?" You nervously asked and frowned when he hesitated.
Â
"I can't let you work anymore, not like this. You're more fragile in this state. If something gets messed up, I can't guarantee your safety."
Â
Silence filled the room again. Miguel couldn't look into your eyes and you didn't have the energy to look up.
Â
"This wasn't supposed to happen." You sighed and leaned back into your pillow. Miguel immediately jumped and adjusted it for you to feel more comfortable. What a great husband he was. His ring sparkled as the sun shone on it.
Â
"Get some rest, please. We'll talk about the future when you feel better." He leaned down and kissed your cheeks. When he was about to leave, you grabbed his hand.
Â
"Stay?"
Â
With that, he sat down on the chair and rested his head on your chest, feeling relieved while your heart kept thumping.
