Miles awkwardly stares at anything but Miguel as he tries to walk out without using his left leg, very clearly struggling.
“Morales.” A stern voice from behind him says, causing Miles to freeze entirely.
“You’re horrible at lying, I don’t understand how you fooled your friends but you’re not fooling me.” Miguel reveals, walking towards him.
Miles eternally sighs at that, he honestly had no idea either.
Perhaps it was because he wanted to prove himself and had more energy then despite his now somewhat useless leg..
“Uhm, it’s not really anything big, I’m just like, super tired!” He rushes to explain, giving his boss a strained grin.
That doesn’t seem to impress Miguel as he reaches the boy, practically glaring down at his leg.
“Have you strained your ankle?” The taller man questions, eyebrow raising.
“Uhhh.. Totally! I was swinging around too fast and I accidentally twisted it!” Miles lies, the strained grin becoming even more strained as he kept it on his face.
“…Is your leg broken?”
Miles curses him for being so smart in his head as if it wasn’t obvious at this point.
“Well, I mean.. Maybe? I only broke my left leg, it’s not a big deal!” He explains, the grin he was wearing seeming to break under the intense gaze of Miguel.
Silence fills the air and the room seems sort of warmer for some reason..
“Not a big deal?” Miguel repeats, his gaze growing into what Miles knew to be anger.
“…¡¿Estás loco, chico?!” He questions loudly, crossing his arms.
”…Are you insane, boy?!”
The younger Spider-Man gulps.
”Not only putting the mission in danger but putting yourself in danger now?!” Miguel steps forwards, grabbing the boy’s shoulder in a painless way.
Despite the lack of pain intended, Miles winces and falls into his chest almost immediately with an embarrassed grunt.
Silence once again engulfs the room.
Then Miles felt himself hoisted into strong arms, quickly looking up to meet his boss’s agitated facial expression.
”estúpido idiota!” Miguel insults as soon as he meets his gaze, though quickly walking out the door with the boy right in his hold, despite his mean words.
”stupid idiot!”
It’s silent as Miguel walks a little bit too fast to pretend he doesn’t care at all, ignoring the confused looks from the many around him.
Its just as Miles closes his eyes in embarrassment at all the sudden looks he’s getting when he realises he needs sleep.
He sighs, leaning into Miguel’s arms and closing his eyes.
He decides it’s not that bad before he falls asleep, the chaos of the whole mission from earlier finally catching up to him.
As he finds himself deep in sleep, the arms seem to tighten around him and a fond huff is heard.
”Duerme bien, araña”
”Sleep well, spider”
