Chapter 2
Mila is falling; she's falling fast, very fast, and very out of control. She's trying not to panic, but she can't seem to suck in any air, and it hurts.
She needs to get back in control, but it feels like her body isn't working, and the more she tries the worse it gets.
Suddenly, the feeling of something hitting her chest forces her out of her spiraling thoughts and forces her to breathe.
She takes in a large gulp of air only for it to be ripped away from her once again as whatever is attached to her upper body forces her to stop falling. Her hands fly up to wrap around it, and it's then that she notices it's a web.
She looks up with wide eyes to see Miguel; one arm stretched out toward her attached to the web that's currently holding her up, while his other arm is stretched out toward the building holding tightly to the web he had shot out before following her.
He looks down at her with relieved eyes, and for a moment she feels relieved too because Miguel has her, and if Miguel has her that means she's safe.
But she's not safe.
Everything happening floods back and panic races through her blood as she watches Miguel skillfully wrap the web holding her around his hand pulling her up toward him.
She's not safe.
Mila doesn't waste any time, she reaches up, and with more strength than is properly needed, she breaks the web like it's nothing more than string.
She sees the look of hurt and betrayal spread across Miguel's face, and for a moment a small bit of satisfaction beats in her chest before it's quickly replaced by her own hurt.
She can feel the air rushing around her once again, she's still falling fast, but now she's back in control.
She can see Miguel looking down at her as if in shock; she lets herself stare at him as she falls.
Before she shakes her head from side to side as she braces herself to keep moving after the harsh impact that's to come.
