Hobie had been visiting the city with plans to hangout with his boyfriend, they hadn't been able to see each other in a while and hobie was desperate for some quality Pavitr time.
Once he had finally swung his way to Pav's home, knocking on the window because of course he couldn't just go through the door, duh, he was surprised to notice Pav's...grumpy appearance when he opened the window to let him in.
"Oi, what's with the face?" Hobie said as he stepped into Pav's room from the window.
Pav's eyebrows scrunched together so tightly Hobie was almost worried for the brunette, "What do you mean, I wasn't making a face."
"Oh you definitely were. You good tho, blud?" Hobie questioned the smaller arachnid to which Pav scoffed to.
"Yes, I'm okay, Hobie," Pav replied, "I'll make us some chai, if you'd like?" he asked.
Hobie smiles and tousles Pav's hair slightly. "Sure thing, bruv." Hobie said, grinning at the indignant squawk produced from Pav.
"Gah, my hair! Hobie!" Pav shrieked while swatting away the offending hand. The taller spider erupted into laughter while rolling his eyes and walking down stairs to begin on his beloved tea.
Hobie followed close behind Pav down the stairs, walking with minimal space between the two arachnids. As Pav walked into the kitchen he prepared the chai, waiting for the kettle to start boiling.
"So, you gonna tell me what had your panties in a twist when I first arrived, mate?" Hobie said rather bluntly, giving a knowing look. "I don't care if you keep whatever it is to yourself, privacy and shit, but you're not the type to get upset easily if you know what i mean, eh?" He explained.
Pav looked away briefly with a lost look plastered on his face before he spoke again, "Hobie, It's nothing, I insist. You don't need to worry about me." He said with a soft smile, a smile that didn't quite reach his eyes but a smile nonetheless.
Hobie squinted as he tried to decide his best course of action, but when he opened his mouth to speak, the kettle began to hiss on the stove and only grew in volume. Pav took the kettle off the stove and prepared two cups for hobie and himself, pouring the water into them and placing the tea bags in the cups as well.
"I'm not worrying over you, mate. Curious, y'know? Not every day Mr. Sparkle and Sunshine looks like he's been told his cat passed." Hobie spoke with a slight grin on his face, the sentence pulling a chuckle from Pavitr.
"If you insist, hobie." Pav said with a slight shake of his head as he took a sip of his tea.
--------
Hobie and Pav relaxed in bed together, hobie holding Pav as usual. The brunette resting his head on Hobie's chest and encased his arms around his midsection as Hobie had a hand in his hair and another wrapped securely around his back.
They lay there for a while as Hobie gently stroked Pav's hair when a soft sniffling began. Hobie could feel a wet patch beginning to form on his shirt and worriedly looked down at his boyfriend to see him in tears.
"Oh, Pavi..." Hobie began, "Talk to me, what's wrong, luv?" He said as he gently lifted Pav's chin up to get a better look at his face.
"It's nothing, I'm sorry.." Pav muttered through his tears, wiping them away though the tears persisted.
"Then what are the tear for if nothing is going on, luv?" Hobie spoke, cupping Pav's cheek gently and wiping away the oncoming tears. His words only seemed to worsen the water works, however, as Pav began crying more intensely.
"I.." Pav began, pausing to attempt to wipe more of his tears away and failing yet again. The more he tried to get the tears to stop, the more they came until Pav was burying his face into the taller arachnid's chest, weeping painfully. The taller arachnid made attempts to comfort his tear-stricken boyfriend. He tried rubbing his back soothingly, stroking his hair gently, and whispering comforting little nothings into his ear; however , his attempts seemed to be of little use as Pav continued his wails. The brunette wore himself into exhaustion by his cries, making him nearly limp in hobie's arms.
"I'm so used to this being easy, being spider-man was easy, but everything's changing and I don't think I can keep up, hobie..." Pav managed to stutter out, hiccuping in between words from his sobs that had since ended, "A kid..." Pav's words began to waiver, tears threatening to spill once again.
"It's okay, take your time, Pavi." Hobie insisted, sliding his hand down from Pav's hair to his cheek, cupping it gently.
"A little kid didn't survive today, I was supposed to save her and I couldn't.." Pav paused once more, tears finally spilling. "I couldn't save her, Hobie. I am so used to saving everyone and not facing such tremendous difficulties and because of it people are suffering.." Pav finished.
"Pavi, we are human too. Being spider-man does not mean we can do absolutely everything. Every day whether we like it or not people are going to die, and it is not our fault or our responsibilities to dedicate our entire lives to forcing ourselves into making sure everyone but ourselves are okay." Hobie spoke, rubbing soothing patterns into his boyfriend's back. "Yes, we have dedicated ourselves into being spider-man and that does mean we do need to help people, but we can take time for ourselves too, ya know? And by the looks of it you need to take more time for yourself, mate. You can't let this stuff tear you apart like this." Hobie concluded.
Pav sobbed, falling apart into tears at Hobie's comforting words. Pav had always been able to save everyone, even managing to save both Gayatiri and the police captain, so loss wasn't something he was accustomed to.
"I know what happened was awful, but the sooner you accept it happened the quicker you will recover. Think of it as a push to make you stronger, bruv." Hobie said, wiping away Pav's tears again.
"It doesn't seem fair though, Hobie.." Pav spoke quietly, tears finally coming to an end.
Hobie chuckled quietly, "not many things are, . No reason to beat yourself up over it though." He responded.
"I guess you're right, still wish i could have saved her.." Pav began, "she had her whole life ahead of her and it got cut short. Who knows what great things she could have accomplished." Pav said, tears welling up in his eyes.
"Think of it on the other end, mate. What if she grew up not to do much, or better yet became a villain of sorts? Not to slander a kid but you never know how someone will grow up ." Hobie said, which caused Pav to scoff.
"You always think of things on the other end 'mate'." Pav said, the word 'mate' in heavy air quotes. Hobie only grinned.
"I see some of my brit is wearing off onto you, huh?" Hobie said with a smirk.
"No it isn't, I would never actually use 'mate' in a sentence unless we were talking about chess!" pav said vehemently which only made hobie break out laughing.
"Mhm, sure bruv." Hobie said, still grinning, earning a playful smack from Pav.
