University: Chapter 1

A bright light stared back at Peter. A shining light from the rundown laptop that he put together from scraps. Peter Parker kept staring, there was no way this email was correct. Why would MIT ever accept him? The person who hasn’t done any schooling for 2 years, the person who has such a bad attendance record. They weren’t going to complain but the question still lingered in his mind: should he really be going to university when he has his other commitments? He sighed bringing his head down into his hands.

'I have to think about this more, I have no clue what to do.' He started to stand up, his legs shaking from sitting down for so long. Before he knew it he heard the banging of his apartment door behind him. He knew he didn’t have enough money to go get anything really but he needed this coffee. How would he sleep when he had such a difficult decision to make? Taking in the stars in the city around him, the bright street lights. It was calm even with his overly sensitive hearing for the first time in a while he couldn’t hear any gunshots or crime surrounding him.

As the buzzing sound got closer to him he saw the bright lights that were in the cafe. It was a nice cafe, mostly green themed, with so many plants everywhere. He never really goes to places like this so he just hopes that this coffee is at least strong enough to sustain him for the next couple of days. He flinched at the loud bell when he pushed the door open. His head down going towards the counter.
“Hey! How are ya, it's a bit late to be here don’t ya think darling?” As Peter looked up he saw green eyes look back at him, he was tall, way too tall. His hair also looked so soft with those curls that looked majestic on the other male.
“I uhh didn’t really look at the time… can I just get a large double shot flat white?” Peter responded quietly, he hasn’t really communicated much out of uniform other than his job as a pizza delivery person.
“Darling, I can’t refuse your service but don’t you think it's a bit late, well early to be getting any sort of coffee let alone a double shot?” The person that Peter now knew as Harley due to the name tag said with a lace of concern.
“Yeah yeah I know but just don’t worry about it. How much?” Peter responded still with his head slightly tilted downwards
“Yeah okay I guess… it’s just $8 for that one.” Harley spoke slowly, almost carefully. Peter put the money onto the counter then stepped away from the counter.
“Wait! What’s the name for that one?” Harley said in a louder tone than he did before.
“Oh, um Peter.” Harley nodded and then started to make his coffee, his face still laced with previous concern for the boy standing in his workplace.

When Harley was done he simply called Peter's name out. Peter slowly went up to grab his coffee and just before he was about to leave he heard Harley say something very quietly he probably couldn’t hear if not for his hearing.
“I hope things get better darling.” Peter smiled slightly to himself and then the feeling of head was brought upon his mouth in the cold weather around him. He hasn't had coffee in what feels like months and he honestly forgot how much he loves it. By the time he reached his apartment he was already finished drinking his coffee. Creaking heard that hurt his ears until he finally reached his floor 5C. He opened the door only to see his entire apartment filled with basically filth and nothing else. Sure he had a fucked up computer and a desk that was on the verge of falling apart but other then that the only other things he had were essentials and well the box. However he refused to open that box. All those memories of when he had everything together. When he still had a family.

He shaked that thought and looked at the time on his computer which was about 5 hours off but what's a little maths practice? It showed at 10pm, well 10:33 to be exact. 'Jesus no wonder that guy was so worried I fucking would be to.' He sat back down and started to move his mouse around. He went through every little thing he could about MIT. Did you have to live on campus for the first year? because he could not afford that. He didn’t have to. He researched other students' experiences, on how many classes he had to attend. He wasn’t the best at attending classes in high school so that could be pretty important here. Yet even with nothing he could find wrong with this, his future, he still wasn’t sure on what he should do.

He couldn't get his mind to be quiet and he only knew of one thing that could do that. He focused in the distance, focused on one particular sound. Police Sirens. As he pinpointed the radio of these policemen he figured out where to go. It was a while away but he could get there. He needed to. He needed to clear his head for this decision and he needed a decision fast. He put on his suit leg by leg and covered his face with his mask. His window creaked as he opened it just enough for him to crawl out of. This may sound bad but I hope this is a bad crime. 'I can’t think about my future anymore. Not at all.'
