Summary
“I thought you didn’t like me and that’s why you didn’t snog me that day.”“I thought you knew I wanted to kiss you and you didn’t feel the same.”“That doesn’t make sense.” Hobie narrowed his eyes. “Why wouldn’t I like my boyfriend?”“Since when have I been your boyfriend?”“Mate, we’ve been dating for four months.”“What! When did that happen! ”

Hobie Brown has been dating Miles Morales for about 2 months. They started dating after afternoons of spray painting subway stations in Miles' dimension and swinging around Hobie’s dimension became a weekly affair. Not to mention their growing solo sleepovers without Gwen and Pav.

Hobie would say the moment they started dating was when they were sitting on top of a tall banking building in New York. Hobie was looking at the horizon, but Miles was looking at Hobie.

“You alright, love?” Miles glanced away from Hobie’s knowing smirk.

“Yeah, man. It’s just.” Miles tapped his fingers on the steel on the building nervously. “I like doing this. With you. Being here with you.” Miles looked at Hobie who lit up and wrapped his arm around Miles’ shoulder.

“I like being here with you too, love.”

Miles Morales had a big fat crush on Hobie Brown. He’s had this crush for about 5 months. It started soon after they met and grew stronger as they started getting closer during group hangouts which turned into one-on-one hangouts. But Miles wasn’t sure how to ask the other boy out and it was driving him crazy.

Miles tried once. The two boys were sitting on top of a building in New York. The sunset was a canvas of orange and pink, but Miles couldn’t take his eyes off Hobie.

Hobie caught him staring, “You alright, love?”

Miles loved when Hobie called him that and he knew Hobie knew by the way he smirked.

But Miles was feeling brave, “I just like doing this. With you. Being here with you.”

Hobie lit up and wrapped his arm around Miles. “I like being here with you too, love.”

Miles waited for something else. But Hobie just closed his eyes and leaned his head against the side of Miles. Miles was hoping the other boy would kiss him.

Arm around the shoulder could mean anything! It could mean Hobie was cold. It could mean he thought Miles was cold. It could mean Hobie thought of Miles as a bro.

Miles sighed, leaning closer to Hobie. Well this was nice too.

Hobie Brown has been dating Miles Morales for four months. He knew this was Miles' first relationship, so he understood they were taking this slow. But sometimes it felt like Miles didn’t even know they were dating!

Hobie noticed that Miles never physically reached out to him first. Miles never rejected Hobie’s hugs and touch, but it was always Hobie making the first move. This brings him to the next issue which is that Hobie wants Miles to kiss him first. Hobie is dying to kiss Miles, but he doesn’t want to rush the other boy or make him feel pressured. So Hobie has been waiting.

Hobie was spending another afternoon in Miles' dimension. Hobie laid on Miles’ bed, softly playing his guitar while Miles sat at his desk sketching Hobie.

“Are you about finished yet, love?” Hobie looked up from the guitar to Miles. Miles grew warm under the punk boys eyes.

“Well, I haven’t added color to anything. It’s a pretty rough sketch.” Miles glanced away from Hobie.

“Can I see it?” Hobie asked. Miles couldn’t say no. He walked over to where Hobie sat. Hobie moved his guitar to the floor and grabbed the sketchbook Miles held towards him.

There were several pages covered with sketches of Hobie. Hobie sitting on top of building, Hobie’s hair, Hobie’s piercings, Hobie’s hands on his guitar, Hobie sleeping in his bed-

Miles pulled the sketchbook out of Hobie’s grasp, “Wait you weren’t supposed to see those.” He laughed nervously, “Those are older.”

Hobie felt flattered and felt his feelings for Miles grow stronger, “So you like watching me sleep, eh?” Hobie teased Miles, leaning into his side.

“I’m sorry, man. You just looked so peaceful.” MIles looked over to Hobie.

“Don’t stress it, love. You can draw me anytime you want, sleeping or not.” Hobie laid his head in Miles' lap and shut his eyes.

“You could draw me like this if you wanted to.” Hobie chuckled and waited for Miles to protest, but was met with silence.

Hobie opened his eyes and found Miles staring at him. And being closer than Hobie remembered.  The two boys stared at each other and Hobie thought that it was finally gonna happen. Miles was finally going to kiss him.

MIles leaned in slightly, but just as Hobie was about to shut his eyes, Miles pulled back and leaned away from Hobie.

At that moment, Hobie suddenly realized that maybe Miles doesn’t want to kiss him. His fears were confirmed when Miles muttered an apology and shifted from underneath Hobie.

Hobie jumped to his feet and grabbed his guitar and practically ran to the open window. Hobie turned back to Miles and muttered an excuse for leaving before webbing out of the window onto the roof and portaling back to his dimension.

Miles sat on the bed where Hobie left him and realized he almost kissed his friend. Hobie definitely knows about Miles’ crush on him now. That’s why he left in such a rush. He was probably uncomfortable with Miles’ feelings for him. Miles crawled under his covers and wanted to hide from the world.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It’s been two weeks since the almost kiss incident and Miles hasn’t seen Hobie since that day. At first, Miles was just bummed. But after two weeks of radio silence and being avoided because Miles knows Hobie is avoiding him, Mies is pissed off.
Even if Hobie doesn’t like him back, how can he just ignore Miles? How can he just throw away their entire friendship? This leads Miles to portaling to Hobie’s dimension to tell the older boy off.
Miles stepped out of the portal into Hobie’s flat. He searched around the living room area for Hobie and when he didn’t see him, he marched over to Hobie’s bedroom. Kicking the door, MIles found Hobie sitting on the floor surrounded by sheet music.
Hobie’s head shot up at the sound of his door being kicked open, but before he could react his body was webbed to the floor.
“What the fuck, mate?” Hobie was not in the mood. After the almost kiss incident, Hobie couldn’t bring himself to face his boyfriend knowing Miles wasn’t attracted to him.He avoided the boy and thought eventually Miles would just move on. So he was surprised to find Miles kicking open his door with a fiery look in his eyes.
“Yeah, man, what the fuck.” Miles snapped back. “What the fuck is your problem.”
“What’s my problem? My problem is you’ve broken into my flat and pinned me down for no reason.”
“There is a reason.” Miles was slowly losing grip of his anger. “You’ve been avoiding me.”
Miles stated.
“Yeah. I have been.” Hobie said, not bothering to deny it. Miles' heart hurt and then shattered at Hobie’s next words. “You should know why.”
MIles worst fears were confirmed. Hobie was avoiding Miles because he knew about his crush.
“Wow, you couldn’t even reject me to my face. You’re a fucking coward, you would rather hurt my feelings than let me down easy.” Miles' anger was back. “Some friend you are, man, fuck you.”
“Well, that’s because we’re not friends.” Hobie broke out of the webs and stood in front of Miles. “Real big of you to act like this is my fault. If you didn’t fucking want me, you should’t have decided to be my fucking boyfriend. That’s hurtful, Miles.”
“Boyfriend? You’re not my boyfriend.” Miles was confused.
“Yeah, I’m not you’re fucking boyfriend, Miles.” Hobie scoffed. “You don’t fucking like me!”
“What? Yes, I do. You’re the one who doesn’t like me.” The two boys stared at each other.
“Wait, you like me?” Hobie asked Miles. “Yes? I thought you knew this. Isn’t that why you were avoiding me?”
“I thought you didn’t like me and that’s why you didn’t snog me that day.”
“I thought you knew I wanted to kiss you and you didn’t feel the same.”
“That doesn’t make sense.” Hobie narrowed his eyes. “Why wouldn’t I like my boyfriend?”
“Since when have I been your boyfriend?”
“Mate, we’ve been dating for four months.”
“What! When did that happen! ”
“What do you mean! That day on the bank. You started blubbering about how much you like spending time with me.” Miles grew warm as he remembered that day.
“What? That wasn't me asking you out?”
“Wasn’t it?”
“Well, I guess it was but you didn’t do anything.”
“What’re you talking about? I said I liked spending time with you too.”
“Yeah, but you didn’t like, kiss me or anything.” Miles felt like his face was on fire from how embarrassed he was.
“I wanted you to make the first move.” Hobie explained. “I thought this was your first relationship, so I wanted you to have full control. So I was waiting for you to snog me.”
“But after that day you didn’t kiss me, I started to think that maybe you didn’t like me as much as I liked you.” Hobie continued.
“Oh.” The two boys grew closer together during their fight. “Hobie, I like you. So much.”
“Yeah?” Hobie searched Miles’ face as the other boy nodded.
“Are you still my boyfriend?” Miles reached his hands out to take Hobie’s. Finally, Hobie grinned, “Well I suppose I’ve gotten used to calling you my boyfriend. I guess I can be consistent, just for you, though.”
Miles reached up to hold Hobie’s face and leaned in to kiss the other Spider. Tracing his fingers from Hobie’s cheeks to his neck, Miles pulled away. “How could I not be attracted to you?” Miles pressed kisses to Hobie’s neck, “I’ve liked you for so long.” Hobie let out a groan and pulled Miles back to his lips.
The two boys moved to Hobie’s unmade bed and spent the rest of the day catching up on lost time. Later that night, Miles was hit with a sudden thought. He shook Hobie awake.
“What is it, love?”
“When’s our anniversary? When we started dating for the first or second time?”
Hobie rolled his eyes, “Anniversaries are a capitalist tactic from the government.” Miles began to protest, but was shut up with a kiss from his boyfriend.
