Boardwalk
The evening of June 16th, Daisy and Sousa decided to spend the night at the boardwalk at Rivers End.
The sun began to set, casting a warm, golden glow over the boardwalk as Daisy and Sousa strolled hand in hand.
They passed by little shops selling a variety of items.
Daisy couldn't help but smile as she watched the ferris wheel slowly turning, its colorful lights illuminating the night sky. The sound of laughter and music filled the air, creating a joyful atmosphere that was contagious.
This is what they had been fighting for all those years.
As they walked past a little jewelry shop, she couldn't help but want to go inside.
She tugged on his hand gently, pulling him towards the shop. Sousa followed her lead, and they entered the jewelry store together.
Inside the jewelry shop, the soft chime of a bell greeted them as they stepped in.
Daisy's eyes wandered over the sparkling treasures, her heart beating a little faster as she admired the craftsmanship.
"This one screams 'Jemma'." Daisy said, inspecting one of the necklaces on display.
It was a very simple yet elegant necklace.
"Should I buy it for her?" Daisy asked. "She is coming to visit soon, so I think it would be nice."
Sousa nodded. "I think she will love it."
Daisy nodded in agreement and asked the shopkeeper to show her the necklace. After examining it closely and confirming the purchase, she decided to have it gift-wrapped. She wanted to make the surprise extra special.
As they left the jewelry store, Daisy held the small, beautifully wrapped box in her hand, and Sousa in the other.
The sun had fully set, and the boardwalk was now illuminated by the soft glow of lights from various stalls and attractions.
They found an empty bench overlooking the ocean and sat down, their legs swinging like carefree teenagers.
She rested her head on his shoulder.
Sousa wrapped his arm around her, pulling her closer.
"I wish we could stay here forever." Daisy whispered, her voice barely above a hush.
"I know, but we have work tomorrow." Sousa reminded.
"Ugh." She groaned.
Daisy's groan made Sousa chuckle. He squeezed her gently, planting a soft kiss on her forehead.
"Why don't I take you home, we can have a nice warm shower, and then we can cuddle up in bed?" He offered.
Daisy smiled at his suggestion and nodded.
Hand in hand, they made their way back to their car, their footsteps echoing on the wooden planks of the boardwalk. The promise of a warm shower, cuddles, and a night together in their home awaited them, and it was a promise they both cherished deeply.
