“Sousaaaaa.” she yelled, her voice shaky.
From downstairs, he called back, "What's wrong?"
"Can you come upstairs, please?" she called out, her voice panicked.
Sousa rushed up the stairs, concern etched on his face. He found Daisy in their bedroom, standing in front of the bathroom door in her bathrobe.
"What happened?" he asked, his voice filled with worry.
"Massive spider on the wall." she stressed.
Sousa let out a relieved chuckle, realizing it was just a spider causing Daisy's distress.
"Is that all?" he asked, trying to hide his amusement.
"Yes, that thing is huge!" Daisy exclaimed, pointing at the wall.
Sousa glanced at the spider, which was indeed larger than usual, but nothing out of the ordinary. He smirked at Daisy, knowing her fear of spiders was no secret.
"So you can kill hydra agents and not spiders?" he questioned with a smirk.
"Yes. Exactly." Daisy responded, moving away from the door.
She sat down on their bed as he entered the bathroom to kill it.
"All clear, Agent Johnson," he announced, joining Daisy on the bed. "The threat has been neutralized."
"Thank you, Agent Sousa," she said playfully, giving him a quick kiss.
"Now, if you'll excuse me, I left a pot of pasta on the stove." he said, in a fancy tone.
"Noooo." she whined as he pulled away.
"I have to go finish dinner, and you have to shower." he gently reminded her.
She rolled her eyes.
She watched Sousa leave the room before heading to the bathroom to take a quick shower.
As the warm water cascaded over her, she couldn't help but reflect on how lucky she was. She didn't deserve him. Or, at least, thats what she thought. Their life together had settled into a comfortable rhythm, and she couldn't have been more happy if she tried. She was finally happy.
After her shower, Daisy walked into the kitchen, where Sousa was diligently stirring the pasta sauce. The delicious aroma filled the air.
"Smells amazing," she said, wrapping her arms around him from behind and resting her head on his shoulder.
He turned his head slightly to kiss hers.
"What can I say, I'm practically Gordon Ramsey." He joked.
She lifted her head, "Hey! You know who that is! Im so proud!" she exclaimed.
Sousa chuckled, his eyes crinkling with amusement. "Of course I know who Gordon Ramsey is. I've been keeping up with pop culture, you know?"
Daisy playfully nudged him. "Well, color me impressed, Agent Sousa."
He turned off the stove and turned to face her, his arms wrapping around her waist. "We have two options." he started.
"Oh?" she replied.
"Option number one: eat in here, or, option number two: eat on the back patio." he offered.
Daisy considered the options for a moment, a playful smile forming on her lips. "Let's go with the latter."
Sousa nodded in agreement, his own smile mirroring hers. "Back patio it is then," he replied, releasing his hold on her waist and reaching for two plates. He carefully transferred the pasta onto each plate, skillfully garnishing them with a sprinkle of parmesan cheese and a sprig of fresh basil.
Daisy grabbed a bottle of wine from the countertop and followed Sousa as he made his way to the back patio. The sun was beginning to set, casting a warm, golden glow over their small outdoor space. They settled down at the table, their plates in front of them.
As Daisy ate, she let Sousa know how good it was through little satisfied hums and nods of approval.
After their pasta and wine dinner, they made their way back inside. They curled up on the couch together, Daisy resting her head on Sousa's chest while he absentmindedly ran his fingers through her hair.
"Do you want kids?" Daisy asked, breaking the comfortable silence.
Daniel, caught off guard by the sudden question, paused for a moment before responding.
"Where's this coming from?" He asked.
Daisy looked up at him, taking a deep breath before answering, "I've been thinking about it lately," she admitted softly.
"I've been thinking about it too," Daniel replied, his voice gentle and contemplative. "In fact, I've been thinking about it for a while now."
"Really?" she asked, a hint of excitement coloring her voice.
"If you want them, I want them too," he replied, his voice filled with sincerity. "Daisy, I can't imagine a future without you, and that includes having a family together."
She smiled and settled her head back against his chest. He continued running his fingers through her hair.
"I'd love girls. Maybe 2?" Daisy shared. "And 1 boy?" she added.
He smiled at her response.
"Maybe we could adopt?" She added.
"Adopt?" He questioned.
She sat up fully and faced him, sitting criss cross. She nodded.
"I grew up in the foster care system," Daisy began, "and it sucks. I know firsthand what it feels like to be in need of a loving family. And I want to give that chance to other kids who are going through what I went through."
"I support that idea. I think that's beautiful, Daisy." Sousa smiled, brushing a piece of her hair behind her ear.
