The Chase

The teens crashed through an exit to the restaurant, catching their breath for a split second before sprinting down the muddy alleyway. Cops flanked their sides, and angry shouts came from inside the building.

You see, stealing a very expensive watch from a perverted hag had its consequences.

And its benefits. Hobie thought smugly, glancing back at Pavitr who was running behind him. He couldn’t get over that contagious laugh .

He watched Pavitr round the corner, the pair finally gaining enough traction to use their webs. It was raining down hell in this dimension, and the sound of cop cars filled the cool, nighttime air.

“Shit Hobie, we gotta slow down.” Pavitr said while trying to maintain a slowly deteriorating

swing.

“Slow down!?! How the fuck are we supposed to do that now!?” Hobie replied, a mix between annoyed and confused. Well, that was until he saw the metal glint begin to peek through Pavitr’s suit sleeve.

How in the hell did he forget?

Of course swinging was going to be harder, and it was raining.

Pavitr glared at him, wordlessly landing onto a crevice in one of the building's floors. Hobie wanted to mentally shoot himself for forgetting the very obvious fact. They had just sort-of fixed things with each other and everything was going to shit again.

Pavitr ripped the sleeve of his suit off with his teeth damn that was hot and attempted to tie it around his upper arm. After a couple attempts of the sleeve getting caught he sighed, giving in.

“Can you grab this here?” Pavitr said, hiding his defeat. He felt the helplessness overtake him again. Helplessness had been a persistent, growing feeling ever since the replacement.

Hobie leaned in, holding the silver arm gently. He could feel the pain seeping off of him, like he was watching a fallen angel.

Sappy right?

Pavitr grabbed his shoulder, using it as support while he finally fixed the problem. He tied the final knot, simultaneously refusing to show just how much this was affecting him. The sound of sirens chasing them had died down now, leaving nothing but silence.

He closed his eyes, already mentally preparing for the nightmares. In a second though, Pavitr felt something cool and metallic slip around his wrist, being clicked into place with familiar hands. He opened his eyes, watching as Hobie finished securing it into place.

He didn’t deserve this one bit.
