Summary
This is a universe where Wendy Spector demanded that Marc not come back home after he was sent to Putnam and forced Elias to put him into the foster system.Lucky or unlucky for him, Monica Gallagher is an impulsive women who loves the idea of a big family but can never seem to actually take part in it.At least he can say that this family is already better than the last.
Note
This whole idea came to me from a dream I had that I thought would be cool to write about and further expand upon. I don’t have DID nor have I been in foster care. Please let me know if something is wrong and I’ll be sure to change it.

Chapter 6

Khonshu was secretly happy his makeshift avatar hadn’t gone to waste. He had originally planned for a completely different path for the system.

Marc was supposed to stay with his abusive mother and his coward of a father until he turned 18, leave to join the marines, get discharged due to being found in a fugue state, and then become a mercenary which would end in a dangerous last job that would bring him bloodied at Khonshu’s feet.

That, unfortunately, didn’t happen but he’s glad that he was finally able to find a work around for this path.

He continued to send Marc and Jake on missions and there was no end in sight. It was becoming harder and harder for them to maintain a normal life.

Marc eventually had to quit his job at The Alibi. Jake’s work ran on his own schedule but he still wasn’t happy that his time driving was cut dramatically. They were only able to make a steady pay check if the person they were after happened to have a bounty on their head and the only real free time they could manage was usually time for Steven to front.

They had decided it would be better to move out. Their new line of work was dangerous and they didn’t want their family to be caught up in it. Though, they would still visit them every so often.

The occasional visits couldn’t stave off the loneliness for long but Marc was lucky enough when Layla began joining him on a few missions here and there.

Apparently, she “dealt with antiquities” and that’s how they ran into each other again.

Marc wasn’t sure how to feel about her accompanying him.

It was nice having a travel companion during the times she was around. He enjoyed her company but didn’t like how nasty the missions could get. Sure, she was capable but she didn’t have a regenerative suit when it got too much. (Plus, he wasn’t keen on sharing his DID with her just yet.)

They were currently finishing up with their latest mission. Layla was on the other side of the globe, taking care of her own job at the moment. Marc was dealing with some rich asshole(Andy, Andrew, Atticus, whatever) that had been pillaging dig sites and killing the archaeologists to only keep “the best of the best” artifacts.

Taking down his men was a cakewalk. The only struggle was with the sheer number of them.

Marc eventually found the stash of treasures but had no such luck with the dickbag he was sent to kill. The problem was, he had to head home soon to visit his siblings and to give Steven some time with the body and had no time to begin a manhunt. Besides, there wasn’t much the man could do without his men. He recovered the artifacts so the mission wasn’t a total bust at least.

Marc was tired so Jake took control and got them on the next plane to Illinois. He enjoyed the flight with the free peanuts and was happy that the movie playing was one he hadn’t gotten a chance to see yet.

Steven woke up later in a cab. He recognized the familiar route and was happy to be visiting home.

He understood that his brothers wanted to start living on their own(as much as they could get considering the circumstances) and was glad for the independence but he couldn’t help missing the rest of their family.

He shot Fiona a quick text that they’d be home soon.

When they finally pulled up, Steven could tell something was off. “Steve” or Jimmy, as they had recently found out, was standing outside. He was frantically tapping away on his phone. It seems that he and Fiona are on the outs again.

Steven started to walk past him, trying to avoid any conversation and to just greet his siblings.

Jimmy stops him before he can reach the steps.
“Hey, uh..”

Steven sighs and turns to him. He’s glad that he’s trying. It’s better than when he was calling him “The British one” when he first found out about the DID.
“It’s Steven.”

“Hey, Steven. I gotta warn you. You do NOT want to go in there.”

“Just because you’ve pissed off my sister doesn’t mean that I’m going to avoid her. I haven’t seen her for a month.”

“You’ve been gone for more than a month. It’s been about three…Wait is this the lost time thing that happens to you guys?”

Not with the questions again. But yeah. It was probably whatever Marc and Jake were doing that account for the extra two months he was missing. He’d have to talk about that with them later.

“Goodbye, Jimmy.” He turns back towards the porch.

“I mean it, man! She’s gone crazy.”

Steven’s fists clenched and his head snaps back in Jimmy’s direction. Steven liked to consider himself a pacifist, but wouldn’t hesitate when there was a slight against his siblings and people knew that. Richie Rich backs down and his expression is a mixture of fear, regret, and apology.

Steven finally reaches the door and steps inside.

It looked like a tornado had blown through. The furniture was upturned and there was debris from the now torn down wall that used to separate the kitchen from the living room.

Jake was instantly triggered to the front. He drops his bags and is about to yell for his siblings when movement from the kitchen catches his eye.

He storms in, expecting a burglar but almost falls over from the momentum when he finds his older sister and stops mid stride.

She’s wearing a nice red dress, her hair is curled, and she is currently doing her makeup by the sink. She looks like there isn’t a destroyed portion of her house a couple feet away.

His stumbling must have caught her attention because she is turning and pulling him into a tight hug.

“Jake! I missed you so much!” She kisses him on the cheek and steps back with a smile on her face. “How is everything? How are you all getting along?”

“It’s..okay.” Jake is getting concerned. Does she seriously not notice the destruction?
“What happened here? Are you okay? Where are the others?”

“Everything’s fine. It’s actually never been better! I’m just working on some renovations. Ian and Lip are over at the Milkovich’s and Carl, Debbie, and Liam are with Kev and V. You worry too much!” She says as she finishes applying her lipstick.

He takes another look at the living room. It still looks like a disaster.
“You doing it on your own? In high heels? What’s up with those by the way?”

“I’ve got it handled and thank you for asking. I’ve got a date!”

“With Jimmy? It looked like you guys were fighting.”

She slams her makeup case shut. “I’m done with him. I’ve found someone much better. He’s an actual gentleman that won’t treat me like shit. He makes me feel like a goddess.”
She says this as she tidies up the counter. A smile is plastered on her face when she looks back to Jake. It’s kinda unnerving.

“Even got me this necklace which you haven’t commented on. How do I look?”

“You look great, Fi. Absolutely stunning.” Speaking of the necklace, it looks old. Like ancient times. He feels Steven buzzing closer, about to take back the body for a closer look, when the dissociation is waved away by a honk from outside.

“Ooh! That’s him!”

Fiona steps gracefully over the splintered wood and rubble as she makes her way to the door. Jake follows closely behind, not nearly as graceful.

Jimmy is still outside, albeit a bit farther when Fiona shoots him a threatening look.

A fancy limo is parked in front of the sidewalk with a handsome man in a suit standing outside of it. Fiona is quick to embrace him.

The man gave Jake a smirk and a nod. Jake already hated him.

To make matters worse, Khonshu had decided now was the perfect time to show up.

While Fiona was going on and on about her new boyfriend, Khonshu was spouting off some demand or something. Jake couldn’t really concentrate on either voice. He was too busy giving a passive aggressive glare.

“-What do you think about that?”

Shit. Fiona was asking him something.

“Uh..”

“Here’s my card. Give me a call and we can go into more detail about it later.”
He’s handed a sleek business card with a number in even sleeker font. On the other side was a name.
Andras Carlysle.

Marc is thrown to the front at the name. No fucking way. This was the rich asshole from their mission. The one that had fled before they got there.

When he looks back up, Fiona is already waiting in the car and Andras is closing the door behind him.

By the look on his face, this was no coincidence.

“Hope to see you soon, Mr.Spector.” He cockily waves goodbye, rolls up the window, and the limo pulls away.

After a few moments, Jimmy finally joins Marc on the sidewalk. He knew the anger was showing on his face.

“It’s like he has her under some sorta spell. What the hell do we do?” We. After all, It did look like they had common enemy but this was something Moon Knight had to handle alone.

“You’re right. This scumbag is up to something.I’ll take care of it. Not for you. But for my sister.”
