Amazing Spider-Man: True Purpose
Summary
What if there was another reason why the Phoenix Force was heading to Earth? What if it wasn't only there to claim young Hope as its new avatar and help her restore mutants? In fact, what if the big cosmic bird never really cared for any of that and all it wanted was a little spider? All because of a deal with the devil.
Note
Okay, I would just like to point out that this is my first story and I take criticism to a point. If you've got a problem with the way I portray some characters, then tell me, so I can avoid bashing and/or misinterpreting them. Those two are actually my pet peeves when it comes to other writers' fanfic.Well, more bashing than misinterpreting. And unless the story is good and doesn't focus so much on the bashing.Grammar and vocabulary tips are definitely welcome.Tips on how to better paint a picture for you readers would be very appreciated. Landscapes, location, character description, etc.And for the people who will rag on me for the stupidest crap, like say pairings or how this story isn't following cannon, or some other issue you've got that doesn't really matter to me or in general. Please, do the world a favor and stick your head in the toilet and flush because that is pretty much where you and your opinions should be going.Anyway here is my first fic, enjoy.Disclaimer: I do not own marvel or any of its characters affiliated here.

Blasts From the Past! Part one

(Flashback, Daily Bugle, Years Ago)

It was a dark and stormy night when a young Spider-Man stood on top of the Daily Bugle staring at an interesting group of people. Four guys, a pretty girl about his age, though one of the guys is actually prettier than her, and some kind of blue furry gorilla-cat thing.

And the gorilla has a name.

"My name is Hank McCoy." The blue monkey says with a tone that says he's highly educated, "I come from the distant future. And the world is in grave peril." Thunder crashes behind the blue creature. He reaches his hand out to the younger man dramatically, "I need you to come with me and save my time."

The young Spider-Man looks at the offered appendage before he puffs his chest and takes it as a ray of light shines down on the two hands.

"Stop."

(Present, Jean Grey School of Higher Learning)

Inside Hank McCoy's lab, the young Spider-Man pauses his dramatic retelling of Beast recruiting him. He is standing in a dramatic pose and looks at his older self, who is palming his face in embarrassment at having to listen to his younger self regale the tale of what Hank said to convince him to come along into the future, which has obviously been exaggerated by his younger self.

Others present are the original X-Men that came from the past, Kitty, Bobby, Ororo, Logan, an unconscious Beast, and the furry man's fiancé, Abigail. The blue furry man has wires attached to his body and monitors around him to show his vitals. Kitty and Abigail are working on Hank to see what's wrong with him but have to hear the story that the others in the room were subjected to.

Spider-Man drags his hand down his face, takes a deep breath, and releases it. He looks at his younger self dully and says, "Tell it how it really happened."

His mini-me crosses his arms petulantly and asks, "How do you know that's not what happened?"

Spidey doesn't respond and just stares flatly at his younger self. After a few more seconds of silence he turns his attention to the most honest one, Jean, "Tell me what happened."

Jean, who is looking at the two curiously, tells it how it happened, "Well after me and my friends agreed to come with Hank into the future, he told us we had to make a quick stop in New York."

(Flashback, Daily Bugle, Years Ago)

It is a sunny day and Jean finds herself on top of the Daily Bugle building with her friends as they wait patiently for whoever the future Hank is expecting. He said it's someone that is vital to bring along to the future. A hero that none of them have heard of but turns out to be a very close ally to them in the near future.

As they wait, Jean goes over what Hank said to them about their future. He was mostly scarce on the details, but what he did reveal shocked them all to their core. Scott killed Professor Xavier and is now a leader of a 'Mutant Revolution.' At first, she could not believe it. Scott idolizes the man. He views him not only as an idol but as a father figure as well. But older Hank seemed sincere and disheartened to deliver the news, and her Hank seemed to believe him. Stating that he would not risk the space-time continuum unless the situation were dire.

So after much deliberation, they agreed to go into the future and see what's what. But before they could go, Hank told them they had to make a quick stop to pick up someone else.

Spider-Man. A hero they have yet to meet.

They asked why and as Hank explained, he was vital to his plan to help them and mutant-kind. He wouldn't go into more details than that, but he was adamant about it. He did provide them with some information on the hero through some newspaper articles he brought along. Though not one of them painted Spider-Man in a favorable manner, Hank said that the editor Jameson had it out for him. However in the future his opinion changes.

But back to the point, they did see that the hero does a lot of good if you ignore the clearly bias ranting of the editor. He saves plenty of lives and even does minor hero work. Stopping purse snatchers, delivering babies, and of course fighting villains.

All in all, it does seem like he's a good guy. And while they are kind of excited to meet him, they don't see how bringing the younger version of him to the future is vital to whatever plan Hank has. But he seems like he knows what he's doing so they'll trust him.

So now here they are on top of the Daily Bugle building waiting for this mysterious ally that Hank wants to take with them. The groovy part was that they didn't need to take the Blackbird. Hank's time box can travel through not only time but space as well.

As for their future friend's counterpart, he is standing at the edge of the building with binoculars, keeping his eyes entirely in front of him. And while he's doing that, she and her teammates are all lying around spread across the rooftop. Bobby and Warren are propped up by the door to make sure nobody comes through. Hank, her Hank, is by his lonesome at a corner of the building's edge. And she and Scott are sitting together under the shade of the ledge

She didn't want to leave him alone. Not after having heard of what Hank said Scott has done. Or will do. Just thinking about that makes her doubt the older man's words. What could have possibly driven Scott to commit such a thing? She knows him. She refuses to belive he would ever kill the man they all look to as a father figure. Scott most of all.

She looks at her team leader and sees he's in his own head. He's obviously conflicted and confused. Wondering the same thing she is, but taking much harder than anyone else.

Just as she was about to ask and maybe comfort him, Hank announces, "Here he comes."

They all immediately stand in attention, ready to meet whoever this mysterious future ally of theirs is. However, they wonder if they even trust him since not even Hank knows who he really is. Everyone except Bobby in the future seems to not know his actual name.

Hank walks over to the edge and waits patiently. They go to stand next to the genius and do indeed see some colorful figure swinging in the air.

"Scott, get ready to fire at him." Hank suddenly informs Cyclops.

Everyone looks at him in surprise as Scott asks, "I thought you said he's a friend. Or will be. Why do you want me to-"

"Trust me." He simply states while keeping his eyes on the figure.

Scott seems to hesitate for a moment before he places his hand on the side of his visor where the knob is. He takes careful aim at the hero and resides to fire.

"Stop!"

But stops and jolts back, as do the others, when older Hank sort of yells at him. Jean looks at her friend's future self and wonders why he wanted Scott to fire at the hero. But before she voices her question, a red and blue blur soars over her and her friends. It lands in a crouched position behind them and they see the hero they were waiting for.

Spider-Man.

He's lithe from how he moves, but very muscular, like an Olympic athlete. His outfit practically shows every muscle. He seems to be around her height, but she can't quite tell from his crouched position. And from the way he is right now, he seems ready to pounce on them.

Just as he raises his hands and makes some devil horns, Hank shouts again, "Wait! We are not here to fight you Spider-Man!"

The hero pauses but remains cautious and doesn't lower his hands, "Really? Cause I got the feeling that you were."

She and her friends look at him curiously as Hank nods in understanding, "You are referring to your ability to sense danger."

Jean and her friends wonder what he means, while Spider-Man's eyes widen in surprise, "How did you-?"

"My name is Hank McCoy." The older man introduces himself while placing a hand on his chest, "My friends call me Henry. But I'm better known as Beast."

Spider-Man lowers his hands and gives him a once over, "I wonder why."

Unbothered by the joke, older Hank gestures to her Hank, "I am this young man's counterpart from the distant future."

Spider-Man is taken aback by that, and he looks back and forth between the two Hanks, "His future counterpart?" He questions skeptically. He shifts to a more comfortable crouching position and then tilts his head, "So what? This is what happens when you forget to shave in the morning?"

Jean snorts before she bites her lips to stop from showing how funny she found that joke to be. Her Hank doesn't appreciate the shot and neither does Scott. Warren just raises an eyebrow and Bobby has no problem letting out a loud laugh.

And older Hank merely sighs, "Your sense of humor hasn't improved over the years."

"Well, that's just rude."

"But not untrue."

Spider-Man still tensed up and obviously not believing Blue Hank's story, says, "If you're from the future, then prove it."

Hank pulls out his time box, "I can take you to the future with us with this." Spider-Man is taken aback by the advanced piece of technology, "This is known as a time box. A friend of ours created it and I modified it. It will allow us to travel back to my present." Spider-Man becomes mesmerized by the tech as the older man explains his reasons for his presence, "I came here to retrieve my friends because my present, their future, is bleak. I wish to fix it, and I believe the only way to do that is for them to come with me."

Spider-Man comes out of his mesmerization of the advanced piece of tech, as he still hears Hank, and becomes confused, "I don't follow."

Hank gestures to Scott, "This young man is Scott Summers, best known as Cyclops, and he is a dear friend of mine." He becomes solemn as he continues, "In my time, he has fallen from the path that we originally set out to follow. For humanity and mutants to live in harmony. Instead, he is close to causing mutant genocide."

Spider-Man is taken aback by this, "Woah." He looks to Scott, who has a hard look on his face, and comments, "You know, it'd probably help if he smiled.

Scott frowns, "I smile." He firmly states, not seeing the irony.

Spider-Man points to his own face, "Early signs of frown lines say otherwise."

Scott still keeps his frown, before he reaches and touches the area where frown lines would be. Bobby leans over to see the lines, "Huh. Never noticed till now."

"Bobby."

Before they become more distracted, Spider-Man asks blue Hank, "Aren't there a whole lot of paradoxical issues that would follow with this plan of yours?" The team pauses as they listen in to an interesting point, "I mean, you are taking us out of our time. So by removing us from this point in time, you'd be creating a timeline where we would not be in. And that timeline is the one we would be following you into the future."

The X-Men, excluding young Hank, become worried if what he is saying is true. But the older Hank speaks and explains, "That would be the case if it wasn't for this little device." He gestures to the time box, "It anchors one to the original time they come from."

"But still, that doesn't mean you're not doing some kind of damage to the space-time continuum." Spider-Man says with trepidation, "I mean if we learn certain things, or if we were to die over there, then there would be serious consequences."

Now the young X-men become more worried but Hank assures them, "You will not stay long. And when you return, Professor Charles Xavier will erase your memories of this encounter."

Spidey does not like the sound of that, "So I'd lose a whole day? That sounds messed up."

Beasts agrees but has a counterpoint, "Certainly preferable to you remembering anything of your future and doing damage that would stray you from your path."

Spidey thinks it over for a second and then concedes with a nod, "That's fair. But why do you want me?"

Hank starts to press the buttons on his time box as he says, "I would tell you more but I feel it best to show you."

Spider-Man looks down in thought and seems to be weighing his options. And he doesn't take long as he just shrugs and says, "Okay. But the moment I get a bad feeling, I'm not hesitating in punching."

They all gather around the blue-haired man and a bright cube of light surrounds them. Next thing they know their environment is completely different.

Hank gestures to the school, "Welcome, to the Jean Grey School of Higher learning."

(Present)

Spider-Man stares dumbfounded at Jean, completely floored by this tale, before he turns to his younger self and inquires, "He was about to take a shot at you, barely explains his reasons for bringing you along, and you still went with him?!"

Young Spidey shrugs not like it's no big deal, "Well yeah."

Not letting up his dumbfounded expression, Spider-Man looks down and muses out loud, "I don't recall being this trusting."

If anything, he remembers being very paranoid about trusting anyone. However, as he thinks it over some more, he recalls he wanted to join the Fantastic Four early on. So maybe his younger self wants to be part of the X-Men team.

"It wasn't so much that I trusted his word," Young Spider-Man says while scratching the back of his head, "It was more because his story was so ridiculous that it had to be true." He gestures to the unconscious form of Hank and the young Hank, "I mean, a blue furry monkey-cat that is this dude's future self comes to the past to take them into the future to change whatever is going on now. And wanted to bring me along because it was vital to his plans." He pauses to let sink in how ridiculous that sounds before he shrugs, "I don't know, it just seemed like he was desperate and scared."

Spider-Man can understand that. Back when Hank was examining him, the blue furry man seemed so defeated. He was attentive but it also seemed like he kept drifting off every few seconds. And while Spidey did his best to liven the man up, it only seemed to do the trick for a moment. Peter of course knew his fellow genius's reasons for being so down in the dumps. His former leader, Scott, had killed their mentor. Possessed by a cosmic force he may have been, Hank's dear friend still killed the man. And now that dear friend is going around the world declaring a mutant revolution, with Magneto of all people.

Peter does not see that ending well for anyone involved. And unfortunately, the X-Men will likely suffer so many consequences as a result of their former leader's current actions. He is helping as best as he can. And he's doing what he can by being a leader that promotes unity between Avengers and X-Men. It seems like his younger self is just doing what he is.

But he also knows himself at this point in time. He knows that he may be selfless at this age, he is still more selfish than he is now. He knows it would take more than a sob story to go along with this. He is not that trusting, so why would-?

It clicks and he gives his younger counterpart a dull look, "You wanted to see the future didn't you?"

A moment of silence before his younger self nods and shamelessly admits, "Yeah."

Spider-Man slaps his hand over his eyes before Logan decides he's had enough and starts ushering out the youngsters, "All right. All of ya wait in the lounge and don't do anything till we come get ya."

They do as he says without protest and shuffle out of the room. The grown-ups except for Spider-Man, watch them leave. When they are gone, Bobby comments, "It is so freaky seeing myself like this."

Spidey drags his hand down his face before he sighs, "Sadly for me, this is another typical day."

Seriously. Is it too much to ask for one boring day?

Bobby still freaked out about the situation, decides to ask them all, "So, what do we do about this?"

They all become silent as they try to come up with a game plan. Fortunately, Spider-Man does have a plan. He stands in the middle of the room and declares, "First we help Hank." Easier said than done but nobody says anything, "Then we slap him silly for doing this. Then paint him pink." Now the women in the room become bewildered at this as the other two men are nonplussed, "And finally we send those kids home the first chance we get."

The women continue to look at him with bizarre expressions as Bobby nods and inquires, "Spray paint, canned, or hair dye?"

Spider-Man shrugs, "Surprise me."

Bobby gives him a thumbs-up and nods before he leaves the room. Logan remains nonplussed, expecting this sort of interaction between the two, while the women have exasperated looks on their faces.

Kitty rubs her eyes as she speaks to her friend, "Ororo, can you go check on the students and make sure nobody says anything to our guests?"

Ororo nods and heads out. As she walks past Logan, she places a hand on the man's shoulder and gives him a look of sympathy. He glances at the weather witch and nods in appreciation before she walks away.

Spider-Man saw the exchange, and switches his gaze back and forth between the two, "What was that?"

"What?"

"That thing that just happened," Spider-Man says as he points between him and the direction Ororo left, "You and her. You know she is a married woman."

Wolverine sees the accusing look and explains, "She and T'challa are separated. Have been since the whole Phoenix nonsense."

Spidey was not aware of that. However, the fact that it was a short time ago makes him give his friend a disapproving look, "Oh dude. That's messed up."

"Nothings happened." Logan tells him in annoyance with a roll of his eyes, "We talked and she's not ready to move on."

"I hope not. It's only been a few weeks."

Logan gets even more annoyed at the hero, "Not like it's any of your business."

Spider-Man crosses his arms as he nods and says, "Maybe not, but T'challa is a friend of ours. You hooking up with his wife a short time after they got separated…" He lets it hang in the air before he says, "Well I'd hold you down for him."

If it was him, he'd likely be doing some horrible things to his friend. Maybe even be a villain to the X-Men if it came down to it.

Logan growls at the hero, "Why don't ya worry about your own love life?"

Spider-Man laughs bitingly, "I think yours is easier to deal with."

He hopes this does not interfere with his plans with the girls.

"If you two aren't going to help then can you please leave," Kitty tells them in aggravation as she and Abigail examine Beast.

Logan sighs before he heads out, "I'll check on the twerps."

Spider-Man watches him leave before he turns his attention to the patient. He may not be a doctor, though he is planning on getting his doctorate, he needs to help them in any way he can. The furry man is a friend.

He goes over to Kitty and asks her, "So what's wrong?"

In another part of the Jean Grey school, the time-displaced heroes are sitting on the couch of the living room watching the news display the Scott Summers of the current time period going around the country fighting authorities to help mutants and declaring a mutant revolution.

The young X-Men watch on in dismay as their leader, the one in the news, attacks a police station to free a mutant. Scott is crestfallen to see himself become such a radicalized man. As he is now, he firmly believes in Xavier's dream of equality and unity. And the best way to do so isn't through violence. He was taught that by Charles Xavier.

To not only see himself become something like Magneto but to have also killed Xavier, it shatters his heart to know his future is so bleak and broken. And that's just his actions with mutants. His romantic life is also in shambles if the school being named after Jean implies what he believes it implies.

To think she is dead. It would destroy him to discover he had anything to do with that too.

Said redhead is having her own crisis. Jean has her head in her hands and is trying to get herself together, but she is having a hard time doing so. To not only see the young man Jean cares deeply for, dare she say loves, do and become everything they stand against, but to also discover she is dead and has the school named in her memory, she is close to having a meltdown.

Add on to the fact that she can now read minds is also weighing on her. But not because it's strange or anything like that, but because it's overwhelming. With everything she just learned and now she is hearing everyone's thoughts, she doesn't know how to handle it all.

"Man, this is so weird."

Jean looks up and sees Spider-Man, the one they brought with them from their time, hanging upside down from a web line attached to the ceiling with his feet and reading a newspaper.

"To think, I'm actually getting some good publicity for a change." He says he continues to read the paper from his weird position, "And ole Jameson is the one giving it to me."

His presence is strange for all of them. None of them know why he's here since Hank did not go into detail about why he wanted the hero with them. But if Jean were being honest, his benign here is getting on her nerves. Mostly because they are all having a crisis except him.

"And it is seriously weird how he's mayor. I'm surprised he didn't pass a law that made it legal to shoot me on site." he pauses for a second before he reads the entire article, "Oh wait."

Bobby looks up at him in surprise, "He actually did that?"

Spider-Man shakes his head, "No." He angles the paper for Bobby and shows him the paper, "But he made a task force whose sole purpose was to hunt me down and arrest me. See?"

Bobby tilts his head to better read and does indeed see, "He also placed a million-dollar bounty on you some time back."

Spider-Man nods, having read that part himself, before he pulls the paper away for himself, "To see he went from that to this is pretty groovy."

Bobby stays silent for a moment, "Is that bounty still active?" He questions making the hero give him a frown. He holds his hands up defensively, "Hey, a million dollars is a million dollars. I'd sell out my own mother for that kind of cash."

He actually wouldn't. Jean can hear his thoughts and he's just joking around with the hero.

And the hero is a bizarre presence for her. Because she can't hear his thoughts. In fact, he and his older self are the only ones whose minds she can't read. Why that is, she doesn't know. Maybe he has a natural defense? Or maybe she needs more practice? Though that last one seems the least likely since she can hear practically everyone's thoughts around her.

And it's not like she can't sense he's there because she can. She can feel his presence in the room but can't hear him. It's like the wind in her head. She can feel it but can't see it. Or rather hear it.

It's an odd feeling. And a little unsettling to be honest.

Spider-Man's suspicious gaze remains on Iceman for a few moments before he goes back to reading his paper as he comments, "I can see why we became friends." Bobby smiles, flattered the hero appreciates his sense of humor. Spider-Man's eyes then light up, "Oh I haven't shown the best part!" He excitedly says as he flips and lands perfectly between the three boys on the couch and opens the paper wide, "Check out the girl I'm dating!"

Bobby, Warren, and Hank do indeed see and can't help but all say, "Woah."

"Right!" Spider-Man exclaims excitedly. The picture on the paper is of the hero with other heroes consisting of Sonja, Black Cat, Rogue, Wanda, Wolverine, and Havok battling against Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, Captain Marvel and a mad mob of people with Red Skull in the background. The Headline is "SPIDER-MAN THWARTS NAZI TERRORIST!"

But their attention is focused almost entirely on Sonja, the woman in the chainmail bikini, and the article that says to be romantically involved with the arachnid themed hero.

Hank becomes a little flushed as he comments, "My stars and garters. I am not sure if that is appropriate attire to wear in public."

"You're complaining?" Bobby questions without taking his eyes off the paper.

Hank shakes his head and continues to stare at the photo, "No no. Just stating a fact."

Jean gives all of them a flat look, as she can hear what two of them are thinking, before she rolls her eyes and shakes her head, 'Boys.'

But their fun is interrupted when Logan walks into the room and announces, "Alright twerps, listen up." They all turn their attention to him as he walks in front of the television set, "Hank is out of commission. It's gonna be a minute till they can fix him. Meantime, we're gonna figure out how to send ya back where ya belong."

Not liking this plan, Jean puts her hand on her and points the other to the older man, "Sleep."

Logan scoffs at this and tells her, "Sorry to disappoint ya Jeanie, but that don't work on-"

The man falls flat on his face with his butt sticking in the air. He begins to snore and drool on the floor.

Spider-Man winces, "Ooh, that had to hurt." He says before he tilts his head curiously, "Are you allowed to do that? It doesn't seem right to be able to make someone do something they don't want to do."

Not liking what he's implying, Jean scowls and explains her reasons for doing it, "He was telling us to go home when he was thinking otherwise." She gestures to the news, "He sees what's going on and is happy that Hank brought us here."

That is the reason she wants to tell them about at least. She can hear the other thoughts the man was having and they were mostly centered around her. 'And by the way, ew.'

She glances at the unconscious feral mutant with a hint of disgust. She is having a hard time believing she had any kind of romantic relationship with this guy.

"Still," Spider-Man regains her attention, "You should be more careful. Back outside, it was fine cause smelly here was clearly nuts in attacking us. But now, not so much."

Jean scowls at the red and blue boy as Scott is entirely focused on what he is seeing on the news.

"I can't believe it's all true." The young man says in dismay. He lowers his head in shame, "I killed Charles Xavier. I become the very thing he taught me to never be."

Jean stands next to him and stares at the screen as well, "And I'm dead." She turns away from the set and holds herself, "I'm dead and dating a mutant terrorist."

They both are in emotional turmoil. One is dead and the other is responsible for the death of a loved one. It feels like a nightmare they can't wake up from. They don't know how to deal with this.

Bobby, not liking the morbid atmosphere, decides to liven things up by commenting, "On the plus side, TV is so much nicer."

Spider-Man squints his eyes at the television in scrutiny, "Not as nice as I feel like it should be. I mean why isn't it voice-controlled? Why doesn't it have that sweet multiple-channel display thing?"

The three other boys on the couch look at him curiously, before Bobby gets the reference, "Back To The Future II?"

"If I don't find some self-tying shoes, I'll throw a fit."

"Will you two please?" Jean scolds as she turns and glares at them. Honestly can't they at least be a little serious?

The two of them mutter out apologies as Warren speaks up, "We shouldn't be here. We need to go back."

Jean shakes her head, "We can't. Blue Hank is out of commission, and I don't think anyone else knows how to send us back. Otherwise, they would have already."

Their Hank lowers his head solemnly and sighs loudly, "He won't do it." He informs them as he looks at the Spider-Man they brought with them, "You were right in your assessment of me— him being desperate and scared. He- I would not risk the space-time continuum like this unless the situation were very dire."

Spider-Man looks at the news and gestures to it, "This?"

Hank shakes his head, "No." He says as he gets a haunted look, "He's dying. And he wants one, just one more chance to make things right."

Spider-Man looks around the room and sees how distraught they all are. He looks at the paper in his hand and can't help but feel bad for them. Things seem to have worked out well for him, but it looks like they seem to have taken all of his bad luck. He wonders if there's anything he can do. He wonders why Blue Hank brought him along since it doesn't seem like Spidey's future is so bleak. If anything he's got a lot to look forward to. Not just in the girlfriend area, 'Although that's certainly the best area', but also in his superhero life.

There's got to be a reason why he was brought along.

Not coming up with anything, he decides to just help the only way he can. "Guys," he grabs their attention bashfully, "I know I just came along for the ride but maybe you could do something."

Scott, still downtrodden by these revelations, looks to the spandex hero and asks, "Like what?

Spider-Man shrugs and offers, "Confront yourself." Scott and the others look at him in confusion as he explains, "I mean who better to tell you you're being an idiot than yourself." They don't seem convinced, so he points to Jean, "If that doesn't work then sick her on him."

She doesn't appreciate the way he made it sound like she's an attack dog, but she does like the idea and asks Scott his thoughts, "What do you think?"

Scott mulls it over for a few seconds before taking a breath and firmly nods, "Let's do it."

He gets up and starts heading out with his team. But Bobby stops at the doorway as he sees Spider-Man not moving from his spot on the couch.

Bobby looks at him questioningly, "What're you doing? Come on."

Spidey reels back, not expecting to be included in what seems to be a personal matter, "You guys want me to come with you?"

"Dude you came to the future with us." Bobby points out to him with a friendly smile, "You're kind of stuck with us now."

Spider-Man smiles back at the ice-powered boy. "Alright." He says as he leaps over the couch and walks side by side with Bobby, "But how are we getting there? I don't have bus fare or money for a cab."

Bobby's friendly smile turns into a grin.

Back in Hank's lab, the trio of Spider-Man, Kitty, and Abigail are looking over Beast's notes and data on his condition. The hairy genius wrote down his symptoms and all the issues he's been having for the last couple of weeks. Since the whole Phoenix debacle.

Kitty sits at the desk and shakes her head sadly as she continues to read Hank's notes, "I can't believe he kept this from us." She says as she flips through the pages, "We could have helped him."

"How?" Spider-Man asks while looking at the hologram of Beast's skeleton and some equations on a screen. He turns to look at Kitty, "I don't mean to sound rude or anything, but I'd say there are only a handful of people in the world that can help with this sort of thing."

Kitty frowns but doesn't retort. She knows the hero is not being mean and just stating a fact. She is a genius, but she is not on the same level as Stark, or Richards, or that cute guy from Horizon Labs. Almost everything she is seeing on the screens is going over her head. She is just smart enough to discern that whatever is going on with Henry, it has something to do with his mutation.

Abigail gets up from the desk and walks over to stand next to the unconscious Beast. She holds his hand and looks at him sadly, "He didn't want to burden us with more problems."

Those words resonate with Spider-Man. He knows what that's like. He never wants to burden the people he cares about with his problems. Because his problems tend to hurt his loved ones more than him if he lets them help.

He glances at the engaged couple and sees how much she is hurting in seeing her fiancé in his current state. He gets some small flashbacks to when he was hurt and MJ had to nurse him back to health. How she stood by him through everything despite not being married to him.

In this life at least. In that other life, it was likely more so. He imagines he came home beaten and battered. She cleaned his wounds, washed his torn bloody clothes, and reassured him he was doing a good job. And that was likely a daily occurrence.

'And I threw it all away.' His guilty conscience reminds him and a pang of guilt hits him hard. He shakes his head and looks back at the equation and sees that there are some mistakes. Peter wouldn't consider himself an expert on genes but he is quite familiar. He has studied his own and some other heroes over the years, including Henry's. And he knows that the man on the table has tampered with his genetic mutation years ago. It's how he wound up the way he is now, all blue and furry.

But Peter will admit, he doesn't think he can find a solution for Hank. Not quickly at least. As smart as he is, he will need time to figure out what exactly the man did to himself. His notes are incomplete. Likely on purpose to avoid any potential harmful information being used against him.

'Ironic since that information could save his life now.' Spider-Man morbidly muses as he glances back at Abigail staring sadly at Beast. He sees how much she cares for him. And it fills him with determination to try and find a way to help, 'But how can I? Hanks health is deteriorating fast and I'm powerless to-'

His brain stops for a second before it starts again and he feels the urge to slap himself for his forgetfulness.

"I am such an idiot." He says with a groan making the two women raise a brow at him.

Kitty sets the notes she has down and comments, "I'm sure I'd agree but why are you an idiot?"

He doesn't answer and instead looks to Abigail and says, "Can you step back, please?"

Abigail looks at him curiously for a moment before she complies. She goes to stand next to Katherine and watches along with the younger woman to see what the hero's plan is. They watch as Spider-Man rolls up his sleeves and takes off his web shooters. He then places them on the desk nearby before he fully turns to Hank.

He takes a deep breath and begins to fire a large amount of webbing in quick succession.

Both women jump to their feet in a panic and say, "What're you doing?!"

After a few seconds, he stops and looks at his work. He wrapped McCoy up entirely in a webbed cocoon. Some of the webbing is even attached to the ceiling.

"My natural webbing has healing properties." He informs them as he goes to place his web shooters back on his wrists, "If I want them to at least."

They both have bizarre and disturbed expressions as they step closer to the massive cocoon. They lightly touch the webbing and even tug on it before Kitty looks at him and inquires, "How long have you been able to do this?"

"Since I came back." He informs her as he slips his web shooter back on. He misses the wince she gives at the reminder of his death, "But I only found out about it recently. Like last week."

Abigail's concerned expression does not leave as she asks him, "Will it work?"

Spider-Man walks over to the cocoon and sighs, "I have no idea." They both give him incredulous looks as he explains, "I used it to patch up some friends with bruising and busted ribs. Hank's damage is in his DNA. I don't know if my webbing can fix something like that. I figured I might as well take a shot."

Kitty and Abigail frown but then concede to his reasoning. They figure, that he figures if it's a long shot, then it's best not to get their hopes up. Before either woman can ask more questions, the sound of beeping draws their attention to the monitor over Hank. It was showing his vitals were slowly dipping. Now, however, they are going up.

Kitty and Abigail slump and breathe a sigh of relief. Spider-Man smiles in seeing the monitors and proudly says, "Look at that, it worked."

Kitty smiles at him before she hugs him in gratitude, "Thank you."

Abigail says her thanks as well but remains by the cocoon of her beloved. He pats Kitty between her shoulder blades and says, "Don't mention it. He's a friend. Was I supposed to just let him croak?"

Kitty stands back and says jokingly, "Well he did bring a younger version of you from the past to the present."

Spider-Man pauses for a moment before he nods, "Good point. I forgot about that." He says before he looks around the room for something, "Is there a razor or electric shaver? I've always wondered what he'd look like if he were completely hairless."

Abigail gives him an unamused look while Kitty shakes her head and rolls her eyes but does smile a little. But her slightly amused look turns into one of consideration. She is now also wondering what Beast would look like without his fur.

Very pink? Pasty?

They're interrupted when the door slides open and Bobby comes rushing into the entrance, "THE KIDS ARE GONE!"

"WHAT!?" They all shout in shock.

Bobby, in a panic, quickly explains, "Logan's passed out in the living room! He went to talk to them and tell them what's going to happen!"

Spider-Man quickly leaves the room and zips through the mansion. He doesn't even bother using the elevator and takes the stairs. He bounces up the sores until he reaches the ground floor. He leaps over many students and staff until he arrives at the room he knew the kids were in. He looks inside and does indeed see Logan passed out on the floor with his butt in the air.

As much as he'd like to make fun, maybe take a picture to share with some people later, he goes over and picks the old mutant up. He then proceeds to shake him while speaking fast, "Logan wake up! The kids are gone!"

The man continues to snore. Fed up and not wanting to waste time, Spider-Man lets the feral man drop to the ground like a sack of potatoes. He looks around the room to try and see if maybe they left a note or something to indicate where they went, but he finds nothing.

"Reports say that the mutant in the campus university in Dallas has a type of transformation ability." He hears the newsman say, "Local officials are keeping a close eye but are maintaining a distance. Not wanting to instigate any hostile reactions from the crowd or the mutant."

Spidey looks at the television in worry and can't help but feel that they might've-

FARROOMMM!

The sound of the Blackbird's engine makes him turn his attention to the windows. He quickly crashes through the glass just in time to see the jet take off. Bobby, Kitty, and Logan come into the room he was just in and see him standing outside with his sights on the sky.

He turns his attention to them as they come out, "Please tell me you guys have a spare jet lying around somewhere." Bobby shakes his head and Spider-Man sighs and slumps in defeat, "Perfect."

(Blackbird)

In the jet of the X-Men soaring over the state of Kentucky, Spider-Man and the original X-Men team sit in silence. The X-Men minds are solely occupied with their discoveries of their future, and what they intend to do if they confront the Scott Summers of this point in time.

Scott is going over in his head what to say to his older self. He'll ask why he killed Charles Xavier, why he is leading a mutant revolution, and how he became everything he said he'd never become. And he's also coming up with responses that he may receive, just to come up with counterarguments. Because no matter what, he will not be the man he has seen on TV.

Jean is hearing all of this, rather loudly too, but she keeps mum. Because Scott needs the silence to try and figure out what he will say and do to his older self. But she also mentally prepares herself to face some harsh realities. Scott may have grown tired of all the hostility he and mutant-kind have likely encountered over the years. Her death may have been a tragedy attributed to this and if that's the case, then she is worried about how she'll react right now. She doesn't want to be the cause of Scott's downfall. But she also doesn't know how she can forgive someone for killing her.

And while the young couple are in their heads, the rest of their company are preparing for the worst. They worried about what the Scott of this time could be like if he was responsible for their mentor's death. Will he attack them if he views them as his enemies? Will he be like Magneto and claim its all for mutant kind? Their minds are clouded with fear and worry.

Well most of them.

Spider-Man, who grew bored of the silence and decided to peruse through the jet, found a nifty little thingamajig. It seems like a small portable TV. He found a button on the side and the next thing he knew, it lit up. There were all these images on it and showed a search bar. It seems to be like a touch screen.

He doesn't remember that being mentioned in Back to The Future.

He does however remember the theory behind them. He read an article in a scientific magazine about a man named Eric Arthur Johnson who invented the first touch screen. Although it did not gain the traction that Peter felt it deserved. It was such an interesting concept that it boggled his mind why it did not gain the attention it deserved. It seems like times have changed though. Being a nerd is good now.

The jet ride will be a long one, they told him that three hours at top speed, so he decided to read up on himself. As it turns out, there is a thing called the internet now and it allows everyone and anyone to look up information on anything. He spent some time learning about that but then focused on himself.

And he is very excited by this. He has spent the last two hours or so reading multiple articles about himself since his time. And he has to say, he is not only surprised by the recent change in tone of the usual articles about him, but by the sheer amount of them. He can't seem to find an end to them.

But he does find the most recent one that he feels the need to share. He played about halfway before he stopped.

"Hey check this thing out." He announces to everyone in the jet.

They all turn their attention to him except for Hank since he's flying the jet, but he does glance back and sees what the hero has in his hands, "What the heck is that?"

Spider-Man shrugs, he probably should have looked it up, and answers, "I don't know what it's called but look at what it can do." He flips it over and shows an article with a video of him, "You tap on the place where it says search, and then you type in what you want to search. And then bam! You got a whole ton of information at your fingertips."

They all looked intrigued by this device as Bobby comments, "Neat. What'd you look up?"

"Mostly stuff about myself." Spidey responds as he flips it back to himself and explains his reasons, "Hairy Hank brought me here for a reason and I want to know what it is."

Warren becomes more interested, "And you think that thing can tell you?"

Spider-Man shakes his head, "Probably not. But I can figure it out."

"How?" Warren inquires.

"Well from what I've discovered so far, me getting good publicity is really recent. Like just a few days ago, recent." He scrolls down on the article, it took him a few tries to learn he needs to use two fingers for that, and reads the articles as he converses with them, "Apparently, Jameson had a change of heart after a speech I made that's been 'trending.'"

"Trending?"

"It's a modern term that describes what is hip and cool." He ques up a video that was titled Spider-Man speech, "By the way, the word 'hip' is no longer cool."

Ignoring his incessant chatter, but Bobby does file that for later since he doesn't want to be seen as lame, Jean, Bobby, Scott, and Warren watch the video while Hank just listens.

In the video, they see the older Spider-Man standing in the middle of a large crowd with the city in ruins, "Look around you." He gestures to the fires and flipped over cars, "Look at what hatred gets you. All of this death and destruction. And for what? For one man's hatred of an entire group of people. You think he won anything today? Cause he didn't. He just showed how weak he is. He had this great power, and all he can do with it is cause misery and pain. Never once in all of history, has hatred ever accomplished anything good."

The original X-Men watch the video, surprised by this. They did not expect this side from the hero. From his character, they assumed he was just a goofy guy who was playing hero. They did not think he could make such a moving speech.

"So what?" A voice, likely the one holding the camera from how close it is, speaks up, "We're just supposed to swallow our anger and live in fear."

The team frowns at this. That is the last thing they want. They don't want them to be afraid. They want them to be accepting.

"No." The Spider-Man in the video voice gets a softer tone but still remains loud, "When you hate, you're hurting. And you want to hurt the thing that's hurting you. You think by doing so, some good or some satisfaction that will stop the hurt will come out of it. But that's not true. No matter how much you want it to be, it'll never be true."

They hadn't thought of it like that. But they can understand. They hate the people who hate and hurt them. And in truth, they also feel the desire for revenge when they are attacked or persecuted but they know it will only paint them in a bad light. Hell Magneto is an example of this.

"Look at that woman." The video turns to a woman holding a child protectively while standing by a man on a stretcher, "She was attacked while she was protecting her child. Red Skull could not make her hate her own daughter. That man lying down over there got stabbed while defending them. He is a total stranger to them." The team are rather shocked by this. They wonder what was happening that created this scenario. "So many other people, good people, died today and you all feel guilty. And now you hate yourselves for it, right."

The video pulls back to him and they see so many people in the crowd look down in shame and regret. Like children that have been scolded for their actions.

"How do you not hate?" A rather gruff voice asks. One that the Spider-Man in the jet recognizes.

The team wonders about that as well. The Spider-Man in the video looks at the crowd and simply says, "By trying to do some good." The team becomes stunned by his simple answer. "You don't need to save the world to do some good. Just make one person's day better. Or even make them feel better. Believe me, those kinds of actions can go a long way."

The Spider-Man in the video walks away and the video stops there. The team becomes silent as they let what was said sink in. They never really thought about hatred in such a way. It seems so simple to do but at the same time so difficult.

Hank glances back at the hero and comments, "Nice speech."

Spider-Man smiles in appreciation, "Thanks."

"So you don't hate us?" Jean inquires.

Spider-Man shakes his head, "No. I was taught not to hate."

"You were taught?"

Spider-Man goes silent for a moment before he tells them a bit about himself but tries to remain vague, "I get picked on a lot. I was a scrawny nerd, I'm the smartest kid in school, and I'm not exactly a social butterfly. So you know, all in all, I am an easy target." They look at him and seem doubtful but do not interrupt, "And one day it was particularly bad. I came home in a huff and I told my Aunt and Uncle about it. I told them I hate the bully that was picking on me. My aunt told me I don't. That I shouldn't because hatred is a weak emotion. That it's easy and selfish. I can be better than that."

Again, simple words that have a great effect. Words that honestly make them warm up to the hero some more. They are happy to see that though is a bit of a goof, he does seem to be serious when the need arises.

Hank glances back at him and comments, "Sounds like a wise woman."

Spider-Man looks down with an air of sadness around him, "I wonder if she's still alive here. She's pretty old in my time. And she has health problems." He becomes confused as he remembers his situation, "Or had? Time travel makes it confusing."

Most of them frown in thought as they realize he's right and Hank decides to help, "I think the proper grammar usage must apply to the current time you are in."

"Okay? So then she is was old? And has have had health problems?"

Hank goes over it in his head and nods, "I believe that works."

They go back to sitting in silence. They mull over the speech and the words of their companion, mostly Scott. He is a firm believer in the peace and harmony between mutants and humans. And the words of Spider-Man and his aunt make him believe it's possible if there are more people like them.

Bobby looks to their new friend who has his eyes on the device, and asks, "That thing play music?"

Spider-Man glances at him before he types in a well-known musician in the search bar, "It should. Hang on."

A few moments of slime as he waits for the name he typed in to turn up something. And when it does the silence slid gone.

"OH MY GOD!" They all jump back at his sudden shout as they all look at him as he stares in horror at his device, "MICHAEL JACKSON IS DEAD!"

"WHAT?!"

(Felicia's Penthouse Suite)

It is late in the day when on the top floor of a luxurious apartment complex, Felicia Hardy walks out of her large walk-in closet wearing a white robe and lays down on her circular white leather couch in silent contemplation. Her room is lavishly styled to suit her tastes. Black silk sheets on a bed that has a single stair that separates it from the rest of the room. Two chandeliers hanging from the ceiling. A kitchen that has a top-of-the-line refrigerator and other electrical appliances. A balcony with a magnificent view of the city. And a bathroom that has a shower with multiple nozzles and a bathtub with a beautiful porcelain design.

All of it basically states that she only wants the best of the best and she'll settle for nothing less. Much like her love life.

The woman closes her eyes and bites her lower lip in delightful remembrance. The entire weekend she spent with her Spider and the two redheads was by far the most exhilarating fun she has had in years. It makes her tingle in all the right ways to rethink what they did.

But it also causes a slight pang in her heart to think about. Because she doesn't see it being more than what it was. Or is, if this vacation they plan to take is saying anything. Just some young wild people enjoying their life to the fullest. Lascivious and salacious as it may seem to many.

'But not to him.' Felicia thinks with a small fond smile, 'He wants this to be something real. Not just something to do for fun.'

Spider-Man. That man has always been a sort of enigma to her. Even after years of knowing him, she still has difficulty figuring out how his mind works. With some things at least. She knows he values life more than most people do. It's the reason why he goes out every day doing what he does better than anyone else, in her opinion. But what she struggled to figure out is why. Why does he care so much?

And then, it came to her when she regained her memories that she didn't even realize she lost. She met his Aunt May at the graveyard his Uncle Ben was buried in. The two people that were responsible for raising him into the man that he is. It amazed her to meet May Parker that day. She understood him better after a short conversation with that woman. She saw a great strength in her that he didn't and likely still doesn't see. Because she doesn't know about his Spider-Man life. He believes the woman is just a frail delicate thing. But her looks are very deceiving.

He's an idiot. But damn if she still doesn't love that idiot.

Ever since she regained her full memories of their time together she has realized how much she missed it all. How much she actually missed the man behind the mask. Peter Parker.

She still feels weird about thinking of him without his mask. But only because it's been a while since she cared or even thought about Peter Parker. She has had issues with it before, but she doesn't anymore. Or at least she doesn't want to. She loves him, she knows that much. Mask or no mask, she loves that man.

And as she thinks about Peter Parker, another face pops into her head. A beautiful face with a gorgeous shade of red hair on top.

Mary Jane Watson. The perfect girl of his life. At least from Felicia's perspective.

The girl had it all. Looks, style, fame, and heart. Felicia will not say it, not out loud at least, but she does consider Mary Jane to be prettier than her. The girl is a model for a reason. And she really knows how to dress to impress. Even in casual clothing, Felicia is a little jealous of how good the redhead tends to look. And there likely isn't a person on the planet who doesn't know who Mary Jane Watson is.

But the thing that makes her stand out more than anything is her heart. She cares as much as him and is as willful, if not more so, as him. It's kind of scary how perfect she is for him.

'So why does he want me around?' A traitorous thought pops into her head, making her smile disappear.

For him, in her mind, she was only for a good time. Nothing serious. She came to that conclusion after a long time of trying to make it work with him. He's a hero and she's a thief. He saves people every day and she robs them of anything that catches her eye. He's a good influence on her and she is a bad one on him.

'Then again, Red ain't a saint either if what we did this weekend tells me anything.' Felicia muses as she bites her lip and smiles.

She definitely saw a side to the model that she did not expect. But it did explain how their shared beau was wicked in the sack. He was trained well. 'Very well.' The hero can rock her world like no other, and she can return the favor. Throw in that supermodel and warrior from another time.

Meow.

Bzzzzt! Bzzzzt! Bzzzzt!

The vibration of her cell phone gets her out of her head. She picks it up and smiles when she sees the caller ID saying Mary Jane. She put the name on it after she got her call.

She hits the answer button and happily says, "Hey beautiful. I was just thinking about you."

She hears the other woman laugh, "All good things I hope."

"Mostly what we did this weekend." Felicia cheekily responds, "So not at all."

It's still a bit of a trip that they spent an entire weekend locked in a bedroom just screwing themselves silly. It explains why she felt sore, but it's the kind of sore that comes with satisfaction, so she's not complaining.

And again she hears the redhead laugh a little, which makes Hardy smile, and listens when she says, "So listen gorgeous, I managed to get myself free for the week for our trip but there is something I have to deal with today."

"Nothing too serious, right?" Felicia questions. She hopes that it won't interfere with their getaway plans.

She hears MJ hum, "Not really. I'm trying to finalize some paperwork to get my club going."

Felicia's interest gets piqued, "Your club?"

"Yeah. I'm opening up a nightclub."

Well, this is certainly news to the thief. She did not expect the model/actress to want to own a business like a nightclub.

"Wow, that's- wow." Felicia is stunned, she doesn't know what to say, "What brought this on?"

"To be honest, it's sort of a recent thing." Mary Jane informs her, "After the whole Spider-Island incident, I just felt like since I spend so much time in those kinds of places, might as well own one."

Felicia raises an eyebrow and voices her concerns, "Red, I'm not gonna lie, that seems like kind of a flimsy reason."

MJ again hums, "Well it's also a cover for Sonja."

This makes Felicia sit up on her couch, "How so?"

"She needs her own space to train and so do I." Mary Jane informs her before she goes into explaining her situation with Sonja in regards to learning magic. Felicia had already told her that her phone line is encrypted so she can speak freely. She tells her she is not able to use it like Strange or any other wizard but still able to use magic in a unique way. With objects and whatnot.

"Can you go into more detail than that?" Felicia inquires.

"Okay, so I need to make weapons in order to use different magic. Cause Sonja is a weapons master and she can learn how to use them very quickly." Seems a bit cheaty but Felicia doesn't voice that, "I need to craft those weapons with certain materials and put rare crystals or runes on them to imbue them with magic."

Felicia is thrown for a loop, none of this eems like common knowledge, and questions the redhead, "Where'd you learn that?"

"Strange and Wong lent me a few of their books." Mary Jane informs the platinum blonde, "There's one in here about teleportation and the runes that are used that I want to work on for Peter."

"For Peter?"

"Well for me too, but yeah for Peter." Felicia can hear some shuffling of paper around and some noise luke a tv, "See he wants to spend more time outside of the mask, but with recent events, he seems to have no choice but to be in the spandex more and more. Until Stark came up with a solution that I improved. "

Again, Hary's interest is piqued, "What was it?"

"You know about LMDs?" MJ asks her.

"Life Model Decoys." She does indeed recall those. The tech on those fetch a pretty penny in the black market, but MJ doesn't need to know that.

"That's right." MJ exclaims happily, "See there's a neat little function that allows someone to subconsciously control the thing. Like they're aware of where it is but it has the will of that person so it acts just like them."

Huh, Felicia did not know about that, certainly would have been nice but she doesn't voice that and inquires, "Stark is giving one to Peter?"

"Uh-huh. The problem is that Peter saw it as an escape to not be himself, or to be himself less and less. So I told him about this book that mentioned teleportation and how I can learn to put that magic into the LMD. So that way he can swap places with the thing should the need arise. Of course, there are still some issues, like he'd still be wearing whatever he's wearing at the time, but we're figuring it out."

Wow. Felicia is both impressed by the redhead and very jealous of her. Here she is, lounging about in her lavish suite, while this woman is not only being an entrepreneur but also being an amazing girlfriend.

Like she didn't have enough reasons to feel inadequate for either of them.

But she doesn't want to dwell on that and instead questions, "So you want a secret lair to do all that? Why can't you do this at the mansion?"

"Honestly? We don't really trust anyone else there other than Peter." MJ informs her and Felicia is surprised by this. She figured the redhead was familiar with enough of Peter's friends. "We know some of them but not enough to let them know everything."

Well, at least Hardy has one up on the redhead. She is familiar with most of Spider-Man's friends. Not enough to say she can call for help and they'd come, but they at least don't want to arrest her on sight. She hopes.

Felicia decides to move on and inform her what she is doing, "Well anyway, I called the pier people and they said my yacht is good and all fueled up. So we should be ready to go by tomorrow."

"Great!" Mary Jane exclaims in excitement, "So all we need to do is wait for Peter to-"

Felicia becomes worried about the woman's sudden silence, "Red?"

Her worries are alleviated when the model answers, "Turn on your TV. News channel."

The thief becomes confused but complies as she reaches for her remote and turns on her large flatscreen TV, "Okay? Any particular reason you want me… to…"

She doesn't finish her question since what she is seeing on the news answers it and why the redhead went silent for a moment.

On the news, Spider-Man and what looks like to be the original X-Men are standing face to face against Cyclops. For a moment, Felicia wonders why Mary Jane seems to think this will delay their vacation before she looks closer at their shared beau. He seems smaller than usual. She looks to the other heroes he's standing with and notices how much younger they all seem to be.

It clicks for her as Mary Jane comments, "I get the feeling that our getaway might be delayed."

(University of Dallas)

Pandemonium is the only word to describe what is happening in the established hall of learning. There was a protest rally that the students were holding in support of mutant rights. A big bonfire that had posters of certain political figures who are against mutant rights, and people holding up signs that showed their support for mutants. Some even are holding signs with images of Spider-Man with a speech bubble and the word hate being crossed out.

Now though, there is nothing but silence due to the original X-Men standing face to face with the Scott Summers of this time. And the man is standing by their sworn arch-enemy Magneto. They are having a hard time accepting this as real, but the proof is right in front of them.

And they are not the only ones. Cyclops of this time is stunned beyond belief to not only see his younger self but the rest of his friends when they were young as well. But his sights and thoughts are mostly focused on Jean Grey. His wife. The love of his life. The woman who he took for granted.

Everything he's ever wanted was right in front of him.

But while the young X-Men and older Cyclops are dealing with what they are seeing, one person is feeling very out of place.

Spider-Man crouches at the ready in case something happens and watches the two groups carefully. He figures with this guy talking about a mutant revolution and a war against humans, he might not be as friendly as the guy Spider-Man is standing by. This confrontation could get hostile really quickly.

He suggested this sure, but he did not expect to be dragged along for the ride. And it is a very trippy ride. He watches on as the two groups just stare down at each other. Neither one is making a move. The people around seem to be watching and have some kind of devices out that are pointed at them. Recording devices maybe?

As much as he'd like to learn more about them, he focuses on what's happening. He sees the two old guys are scared and angry. He's sure they don't understand what's happening. Heck, he barely understands. Nevertheless, he's here to back up his friends.

Although is he friends with them? He just met them. He doesn't really have any friends to compare this situation to.

"Stop!"

Before he delves into the depressing thought of him being friendless, Jean's shout brings him back. He looks at her and sees her teammates are concerned by her sudden outburst.

"Stop talking!" She shouts as she grabs her head in pain or aggravation, the hero is not sure which.

"Jean, nobody is talking," Bobby tells her.

She drops to her knees as it continues to seem she is in pain. Tears even start to come out of her closed eyes.

Scott becomes concerned and kneels next to her, "Jeanie?"

Spider-Man and Scott reel back when Jean shouts, "SHUT UP!" She lifts her hand and some weird pinkish purple energy shoots out of her hands. It connects with Cyclops and Magneto, launching them a good distance away. Over all the people who were watching the spectacle.

Spider-Man whips his head back and forth, wondering why the girl just attacked the older man. He wasn't being hostile or anything. Then again the girl is a telepath so maybe she heard him think something.

His spider sense goes off and quickly leaps to the couple and shouts, "Look out!"

He gets to them in time to pull them away from older Scott's optic beam blast. It hits the hero in the back, however. Launching the three of them further than Spidey intended.

"Gah!" Spidey lands with the two X-Men in his arms and they get loose and roll away from his grip. He quickly gets back up as they take a minute to shake off the vertigo.

Spider-Man looks around and sees the destruction the beam from the older man is causing. He immediately leaps into action by first firing multiple web lines to a group of college students who are about to be crushed by falling debris.

He then leaps over to a student that was on the rooftop of the campus building that is now falling apart. He manages to catch the student in midair and land him safely away from the chaos.

Back over with the young X-Men and the two mutant revolutionists, Cyclops closes his eyes and stops firing his beam. Young Scott takes advantage of this and fires his own beam at his older counterpart and hits him in his chest. Magneto quickly steps in and throws a bicycle at the young man. Young Cyclops rolls out to the way and fires another beam at Magneto. But the older mutant's years of experience help him and he manages to trip the younger man with a metal pipe with a sign attached to it that was by his feet.

"Illyana!" The old mutant calls out as he goes to his Cyclops, "Get us out of here!"

Spider-Man, who had just finished lifting up some debris off a group of students, hears Magneto shout this. He looks over to where Magneto is and sees the man rushing to his companion. Spider-Man fires a line at a small chunk of rock and twirls it around before he throws it at the villain. It connects and the old man falls flat on his face.

"Whoo!" Spider-Man jumps in excitement, "Score one for the home team!" His spider-sense goes off, "Uh-oh." He leaps out of the way when some metal poles start flying at him. There are many due to the number of protesters that were around the campus, but they were being sloppily thrown at him.

Iceman, who had been knocked back but the blast future Cyclops hit them with, is on an ice ramp and is throwing his ice balls at Magneto, "Hey old man! Pick on someone your own size!"

Magneto is barely able to keep his attention on the metal he is throwing at the arachnid-themed hero, when the ice-powered teenager hits him with the snowball, he loses all concentration.

He holds up his hands to protect himself and he shouts again, "Illyana!"

Again another blue light starts to appear underneath his feet but he is pulled away when Spider-Man fires a web line at the Master of Magnetism's back and pulls. He pulls the old man into the air and webs him against a brick wall of the school.

He sticks to the wall and looks at the man from an upside-down position, "Who's 'Lily-Lama'?" He questions the trapped man, unintentionally butchering the name, "Is she the one that's making those blue spots appear?"

Before he gets an answer, his spider-sense goes off and he leaps out of the way of a sword that comes out of the wall he was on.

"Whoa!" He swings in an arc to the other side of the trapped mutant and looks to the bright light spot, "Hey, who's trying to shishkabob me!"

A blonde woman leaps out from the portal and lands on the ground below. Spider-Man's eyes widen at the sight of her.

"Wow." He comments as he crawls closer to the Master of Magnetism while keeping an eye on the blond, "Is she single?"

The older man ignores him and shouts at the woman, "Illyana! Get Scott out of here!"

The girl turns her attention to the downed mutant leader and rushes toward him. Spider-Man immediately leaps down and lands in front of her.

Beige the hero can make a joke, she says something that stops him cold, "I was told you were alive again."

A bolt of lightning goes through him as he looks at the woman in shock, "What'd you just say?"

She gives him a confused look before she sees Angel and Iceman coming at her, "Why are there-?" She questions before she stops and realizes something, "Oh this is interesting."

Magneto manages to escape from the webbing with some effort and floats over to pick up Scott, "Illyana!"

The young woman turns her attention back to the two men, but Spider-Man is not letting her leave without answers. He leaps after her as she rushes to the two and shouts, "What did you mean before?! About me being alive?!"

She rushes to her comrades as she shouts back at him, "Isn't it obvious?! I killed you!"

Her boasting fuels him with more anger. He fires a web at her back but it doesn't reach her in time as a blue light encompasses her and her friends. Angel who was about to reach them crashed on the ground. Bobby was overhead on an ice ramp and looking at the scene in shock.

"Magneto ran away." Iceman says in disbelief as he skates down to the ground, "Magneto ran away from us with Scott and some Russian girl."

To him, that's basically saying up is now down and two plus two equals five. Scott, Jean, and Hank walk up beside the three stunned boys as they all stare at the spot their adversaries have vanished from. None of them can understand, or even believe what they have heard and witnessed. But as much as they would like to absorb this, they hear sirens and know that means trouble.

"We need to go," Scott tells them as he steps back from the spot his older self vanished from.

The others follow suit but Jean stops when she notices Spider-Man remains staring at the spot the three people they were fighting vanished from. And though she can't hear it, she figures his thoughts are circling the Russian woman who came to rescue her friends.

"Spider-Man?" She calls out to him in worry.

He stares at the spot as he says, "She said she killed me." He turns to look at her, and even though he's wearing a mask, she can tell he has a haunted look, "That girl, she said she killed me."

She gives him a pitiful but also understanding look. She knows what he's going through because she's practically going through the same thing. Though the differences are she doesn't know how she died and she's clearly not around. But that doesn't make what he's dealing with any easier.

She walks up to him and places a comforting hand on his shoulder, "We need to go."

He glances at her before he nods and they quickly leave the school.

They all had much to absorb and come to terms with. From learning that the leader of the X-Men is evil and working with Magneto to Spider-Man and Jean learning they died. It's safe to say their travel to their future has proven to be quite bleak to say the least.
