Chapter four
Wade was scared.
It had been hours since his Da had picked him up from school. He had been soooo excited.
His Da had never really paid any attention to him before, so he had been determined to prove to his Da that he could be good. And he had, he had been so good.
He had been patient and had not complained when his Da had brought him to meet some very strange men.
He had been patient and had not complained when his Da left him with the very strange men.
He had been patient and had not complained when the men put him in a truck and drove for what felt like hours.
He had been patient and had not complained when the strange men put him in an odd glass contraption.
Wade was now impatient, but he did not dare complain.
He wanted Lad. Lad had promised Wade pancakes for breakfast tomorrow! He didn't want to miss out!
Wade leaned against the glass and found himself reeling back at how hot it was. In fact now that he looked at it, the glass was glowing red.
The whole contraption was heating up and Wade was going to boil inside of it.
As the temperature rose, his want to be good lessened until he found himself screaming at the strange men to stop. To stop pretending that he wasn't there, that they couldn't hear his screams. To let him out of the contraption that was turning his whole body into a giant blister.
Eventually he couldn't scream anymore. The heat was weakening him.
As he lay down, he thought about Lad. Lad wouldn't let these men do this to him, would he? He obviously didn't know right?
As if summoned by his thoughts, Lad burst through the doors of the laboratory.
He did not look good. He was disheveled and panting as if he had run here.
The look on his face when he saw Wade was one of absolute horror.
Before anyone could do anything, an alarm started to blare. The strange men, who had been very confused at the arrival of his brother, now rushed to the machinery surrounding the glass contraption and yelled at each other in panicked voices.
It was only then that Wade noticed the Energy.
It was alive and it was very angry that the strange men had disturbed it. Wade didn't know how, but he knew that the Energy was going to kill everyone in the room including him and Lad.
He also knew that he couldn't let that happen, so he took a deep breath and began to bend the Energy to his will.
At first it was enraged that he had dared to try and control it, but Wade held strong and it eventually gave in to him.
He glanced at his brother who was being held back by one of the strange men. Lad looked terrified and kept trying to get the glass contraption.
The man that was holding him back took a knife out of his pocket and held it over Lad's head.
Yeah, Wade thought not.
He pulled the Energy that the glass contraption was summoning inside of himself and when the pressure got too much he let it all out with a scream.
All the strange men and Lad where knocked unconscious as the mass of Energy flooded and escaped the room, crumbling and taking Wade's body with it.
