Chapter one
Slade Wilson didn't think much of it when his ma said she needed to talk him.He was however suprised when she informed him that he was going to be an older brother.He was already nine and his parents hadn't had another baby so he had gathered (from what the townsfolk said) that he was to be an only child.
His Ma looked happy so he tried to look happy for her , while in reality he wasn't really sure what to think. Babbies where messy and loud , but he supposed they could be fun when they got older.His Da on the other hand was not as pleased.He muttred under his breath about how they already had an ungrateful brat to support and how they didn't need another.
Months went by and his Ma's belly got HUGE!She also started getting tired and complaining of back aches.Slade barely saw his dad.And then finally the big day came.He wasn't in the delivery room , but he sure as hell heard the screams and shreiks and wails that where emitted from there.
They called him in to meet his brother.The kid was so tiny it was concerning (He literally heard the docter tell his Ma that!).He looked a bit like a worm all pink and shriveled up.But then the kid opened his eyes.His eyes that were the exact same shade of blue as Slade's.Then he gurgled and gave Slade what he fancied was a smile.Right then and there Slade Wilson swore that hell would freeze over before he let his little brother get hurt.
The kid was named Wade Winston Wilson.A bit of a mouthful if you ask Slade , but his Ma said that siblings often have rhyming names to show that they were a family.She had been crying when she said that.Back then he wondered why she was so sad , but know he knows she must have had some idea about what qas coming.Two days later his Ma died.They buried her and a whole bunch of people he doubt ever spoke to his Ma came.His Da bolted to the pub the moment it was over leaving poor Wade all alone and crying in his stroller.
He knows that he should have felt furious at their father for abandong Wade like that.But all he felt was relief that all the people were gone.He picked up his brither and rocked him in his arms until he stopped crying and fell asleep."It's okay" he whispered to his brother "I know you miss Ma , but I am here and I'm gonna look after you now.Okay?"Wade did not answer for he was fast asleep.Slade smiled and took his brother home.
