jealousy
Gwen wasn't jealous.. was she? No that's stupid, she's just a little upset she missed a few things? Right? She sighed and looked back towards the group, it's like they all had their own pairs. And she was the only one by herself.
Pavitr and Hobie were talking about whatever when Pavitr looked over at Gwen and noticed something weird. He stood there staring for a few seconds, he glanced over at Margo and Miles, then back at Gwen, then back to Margo and Miles. Then, it clicked.
Gwen was jealous.
"Hey I'm gonna go talk with Gwen." Pavitr told Hobie, patting his chest.
"I'll be back" He smiled up at the other and walked towards Gwen, Hobie walking over to Miles and Margo to go bother them.
"Hey.." Pavitr said slightly awkward
"Hi" Gwen responded dryly
"So... jealous huh?"
"Hm? No? What are you talking about?" Gwen said in an obviously nervous voice
"Look, I get it. You've been gone for a few weeks, things are changing I get why-"
"Stop prying Pav, I know you want to help but just leave it." Gwen interrupted with an angry tone, turning her head away from him.
"Gwen, please. I know what it feels like, trust me. It's just going to continue to eat you from the inside out until you eventually fall apart into millions of small pieces and the only way to stop it is by confessing everything to that one personandriskyourwholefriendshipwithoutknowingifitwillevenworkout-"
"Pav, Pav, I get it." She laughed a bit putting a hand on his back.
"Who would even make you feel that bad, you're like the nicest person I know" Gwen questioned
"Um... hah.. that's a uhhh funny question you know!" Pavitr laughed and gave Gwen awkward finger guns voice cracking
"Dude.. now you have to tell me!!" Gwen said, prying even harder than Pavitr was.
"Promise you wont judge?"
"Of course Pav"
"Ok, ok, look. So when we first met, you and Hobie were so close I couldn't help but be a little jealous and it got worse and worse as time went on and then I had to panic-confess to Hobie one night because I was about to have a breakdown then-"
Gwen burst out laughing.
"Hey. You said you wouldn't make fun!" Pav said, hitting her trying to get her to stop.
"Sorry, sorry, it's just.. silly!" She said, still laughing at what her friend had just said.
"Ok, whatever! My point being!! Stop bottling this up. Sitting here and moping doesn't do anything about 'the one who got away' or whatever. If you even want to try to fix it you need to get yourself out there you.. stupid dumb idiot." He said, patting her back.
Gwen smiled at his words looking towards the group in front of her, only to see a mess.
"That literally doesn't make sense why would you-"
"You're just mad. You're literally just ma-"
"YOU'RE MAD RIGHT NOW! WHY ARE YOU EVEN ARGUING IF YOU AREN'T MAD-"
"I'M ONLY ARGUING BECAUSE YOU STARTED IT"
"well... I WOULDN'T HAVE STARTED IT IF YOU DIDNT-"
"guys chill, chillchillchillchillchill-"
"STAY OUT OF IT MILES!" Hobie and Margo yelled in unison
Gwen and Pavitr sat in disbelief watching Hobie and Margo's endless arguing over a game of Uno.
They laughed together at the three of them before Pavitr interrupted their feud.
"Mind if we join?"
"Yes, please." Miles said pointing to Hobie and Margo."
Gwen and Pavitr both laughed, sitting down and grabbing everyone's cards.
And shuffling them.
Hobie and Margo slowly turned their heads towards Pavitr, absolutely shell-shocked.
"WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT I WAS JUST ABOUT TO WIN" Margo yelled holding her head in her hands.
"Well, you wouldn't have won anyways because I would've won before you did." Hobie responded in a cheeky manner.
Margo looked like she was about to wreak havoc on the boy right in front of her.
"It doesn't matter anymore guys, cards are shuffled. Handing out new ones currently!" Pavitr interrupted before it escalated
Margo sighed, closing her eyes and opening like nothing happened.
"Right! Let's get on with this new game!" She said in her brightest voice possible
Hobie let out a small laugh before getting the dirtiest look from Margo, immediately stopping and clearing his throat.
After Pavitr was done giving everyone 7 cards, they did rock, paper, scissors to decide who goes first. They chose to go counter-clockwise from whoever won. The winner of course being the lucky Pavitr Prabhakar. Making a rotation of Pavitr, Margo, Miles, Gwen then Hobie.
Flipping over the first card, everyone looking over their cards. Pavitr setting down a red card.
The first rotation went by like normal, no arguments, just small talk over the first few rounds. Until someone put down the card that made the game spiral out of control.
Miles put down the dreaded 'change color and +4 to the next player' and it went all downhill from there. Gwen had to pick up 12 cards, placing down a +2, Hobie stacking it, Pavitr following, causing Margo to pick up 6 cards. Margo insisted it was targeted by Hobie because of the last round, pulling a reverse card causing Pavitr to pick up 9 cards, leaving him in shambles. Hobie changing the color causing an argument between Gwen and him. Miles peeking at Gwen's cards during their argument, being called out by Margo, causing another argument, Pavitr backing up Miles saying it didn't happen.
Before they knew it, they were all yelling at each other over whose turn was next, what rules should be allowed, Miles peeking at everyone's cards and Margo insisting she's being targeted by Hobie.
What started as a game for fun, caused multiple arguments, knocked over dishes, a few felonies and Margo almost committing manslaughter.
