Biting words
Miguel stood watching the go home machine as it powered down. He turned around and looked at all the spiders who were standing in silence staring at him. The person whose expression looked the worst was Wendy. Her face showed a mixture of fear, disgust, and shock and it looked like she came to a painful realization. Miguel let go of a sigh which loosened his shoulders only for a moment before more anger crept in, tensing his shoulders once more.
Miguel: What? (directed toward Wendy)
Silence
Miguel: What is that face for?
Wendy shakes her head.
Wendy: I…I don’t know you anymore. This man standing in front of me. I don’t know who you are.
Miguel: If I hadn't done anything the whole multiverse would be in jeopardy. Do you want that? To see all of this go away?
Wendy: How do you know that?
Miguel: What did you just say?
Wendy: I said how do you know that?
Gasps rang out through the area. Jess looked between each of them as a couple spiders backed away from the two who were locked in a glaring contest. Miguel towered over Wendy but she wasn’t backing down. Her hands were balled into fists at her sides and she was enraged. Tears betrayed her by forming in her eyes.
Wendy: How do you know that all of this would have fallen apart if Miles saved his father?
Miguel: Do you really want to test that? Do you want to see all of these universes fade away and then we’ll have nothing?
Wendy: I want to see you treat a teenager with compassion and respect and not like he’s a bug to shoo away! All he wanted to do was save his father and you slammed him into a train!
Miguel: Wendy, I’m not doing this! You know the risks of letting people survive who shouldn’t!
Wendy: You can’t tell me or look me in the eye and say you wouldn't have done the same if you had a chance to get Gabriella back!
Miguel: Don’t you dare bring up my daughter!
Wendy didn’t heed his warning.
Wendy: Because if I had known I would have been able to save Peter, I would have done it in a heartbeat! It would save me from the guilt I live with every day for letting him die by my hands! It would save all of these spiders from the guilt and you’re too blinded by your own grief to see it!
Jess: Wendy, honey…
Jess tries to put a hand on her shoulder but she shrugs it away and walks toward Miguel looking up to glare at him. She dropped her voice down to a whisper.
Wendy: What kind of leader are you if you lead by fear and manipulation and not by love and compassion? You’re not like the rest of us. We don’t even know if you are even a true spider man.
Miguel: You’ve crossed the line. You know you did. What stops me from tearing you limb from limb right here in front of all these people?
Wendy: You already proved you’re malicious. So I wouldn’t put murder on the list of things you wouldn't do. I’m done. Call me when you’ve finally come to your senses.
With that Wendy opens a portal behind her and takes off her gizmo. She disappears in the portal and she’s gone.
