Derek makes his way over to Lara’s house when he gets home for spring vacation after his final year in high school.
They started dating the summer before she left for check on their pack, and the long distance was hard but they didn’t let it break them up. Skype is a thing. Phones are a thing but still as he wanders around the apartment waiting for Lara to get back from her travelling he can’t help but be excited for the skin on skin contact again. He wants to cuddle his mate.
He wanders into the bedroom thinking maybe he could—he shakes his head at his train of thought. Sure they’ve had sex and gotten pretty familiar with each other’s bodies but Derek still lacks that full confidence.
He hears the door close and grins getting ready to run to his mate when he realizes the sheets are different. His brow furrows and though he smiles when a pair of arms encircle his waist he asks, “Lara? Why do you have black sheets?” He tilts his head up to see Lara blushing.
Then Lara moves to whisper hotly in his ear. “Because I’m tired of you feeling like you should blend into the background. Your body is beautiful and your pale skin on the black sheets will stand out. You’ll shine bright like the star you were always meant to be. I see you Derek and you are beautiful. You are mine.”
That night Lara ravishes Her Mate from head to toe until he’s writhing and panting for more. His pale skin on display for Lara and Lara alone and even more beautiful laid out on the black sheets, with the moonlight shining through the window.
”My beautiful mate. My Luna. Mine,” Lara says with a rumble in her chest.
Derek hums softly as his mate noses at his neck and smiles. “Yours.” He looks up red eyes with meeting whiskey gold. “So you really bought the black sheets just to show me how beautiful I am?” he whispers.
Lara smiles and kisses her mate’s nose, cupping one cheek with her hand as her thumb brushes back and forth across Derek’s jawline. “Yes baby. There’s nothing I wouldn’t do for you. I know it’s hard to always believe it when I tell you how beautiful you are but you believe me when I tell you I love you. Right?”
”Yes.” Derek pants under her.
”Have I ever lied to you?” she asked him looking him directly in the eyes.
Derek shakes his head and ducks his head as his cheeks twinge pink. “I know you’re not lying when you say you love me which I know means you’re not lying when you say I’m beautiful. I’m sorry I doubt but I promise it’s not on purpose.”
Lara nods. “I know. After being put down by the ones who should’ve been building you up and love you unconditionally, they are betrayal left you vulnerable, I can only imagine how hard it is to accept you’re so much more than you’ve been made to believe.”
Derek lets a tear slide down his cheek and kisses Lara’s palm. He looks at his MAte with wide eyes full of trust. “I love you.”
”I love you too and I will spend the rest of our life reminding you of that. You don’t have to agree with my view of you right now but please let me tell you?” a genuine request by his mate for him to consider.
”I never want you stop telling me.” and he was honest in his reply, they were strength behind her reassurance that he needed right now.
Lara chuckles and nods. “Then I won’t.” she nips at Derek’s neck and then starts sucking a bruise into the pale skin of her mate’s neck just below the jawline.
Derek moans baring his throat. “More?”
A rumbling growl is the only reply to his request before Lara spends the rest of the night taking her mate apart, putting him back together, taking him apart and putting him back together only stopping when they’re both fully satiated as dawn breaks and they fall asleep bonded in every way humanly and wolfly possible.
It’s a beautiful thing and if several sets of black sheets find their home in their closet well that’s their business and it’s inevitable.
