It Will Come Back- Hozier
I like to think of this song in terms of most Eddie Venom universes. Just a song that makes me think of being reunited with something that may be dangerous, but that you crave. it's a pretty song, and the first of three Hozier songs on this playlist.
Make You Better- The Decemberists
This song speaks to me about their symbiotic bond, and how fraught with angst it can be (if I make it that way). Like, but, at the end of the day, I think they do make each other better. I like angsty rock. Why am I doing this? What a nerd.
Bones- Ivy Sole
This is a love song, about some one you're not necessarily with, but who you want to be with. I liek separating Eddie and Venom and then bringing them crashing back to each other, with all of the yummy mixed felings that come with symbiosis.
Two Weeks- FKA twigs
Sexy song about sex. Or like. Sexual longing. It's a great song.
From Eden-Hozier
Did I not say this was a Hozier heavy list? But it talks about slithering, and one thing that stands out to me about the Venom comics is this badness that they place on the Venom symbiote. Like, it connects at the brain stem, and therefore it can be argued that it is in control. Anyway, another love song. But time and time again (read Planet of the Symbiotes saga from I think the 90s?) it shows that it wants to be in union with its host. Venom, the Spider-Man killy one from the comics, is just as much Eddie Brock's emotions as it is the symbiote's influence.
Francesca- Hozier
Ok, I'm looking at this playlist and there's actually four Hozier songs. Hahaha I'm such a dork.Is anyone even reading this? Anyway! This too speaks to me as a love song. Like, especially for comics verse Eddie. Being Venom may be hard and ostracizing, but Eddie is so lost in the symbiote's sauce that he doesn't care- and would make the same choices over and over again.
Anything for You- Ludo
Is this all love songs? Kind of. Because they're in love, god dammit. I'm listening to these as I write these synposes and this one is the sweetest, I like it because it's kind of the theme song of my friendship with one of my best friends, and I thought of the all encompassing love I have for them, and being me I was like "This must be how Venom and Eddie feel about each other." Because my mind is a Symbrock trash hole. i know I'm hurting them in this universe, but I do it out of love.
Stronger than You- Steven Universe
I mean. It's just. I'm not even that big of a SU fan, and I didn't watch Future, but this song is great for the Venom symbiote and Eddie. Like. It just is.
Wasteland, Baby- Hozier
Little finger picky song that makes me think of the calmness, the one ness, that being Venom is for them both. Like the calm assuredness of eachothers feelings, and the lengths they will go to to be together. Last Hozier song (for now) I promise.
If We Were Vampires- Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit
Love me some Jason Isbell. It makes me think of the comic book that I haven't read (but it's in my collection) where Venom keeps Eddie alive for centuries. I mean, iI might write a fic where Eddie dies and, trust and believe, this song will be on repeat when I write about the symbiote's sadness. But don't be sad. Ultimately this is a love song that curses mortality, and I'd give it a listen if I were you.
