Nothing
The visit to headquarters went surprisingly well. He hadn’t got asked any questions or chased down like a… certain time. Infact, he didn’t even get any weird looks! It was calm.
I bit *too* calm.
See, if this was a normal work environment or hang out space, the calmness would be nice. Comforting, even. Though since this was a place filled with spidermen, this was the exact opposite. It was almost nerve wracking.
Everyone knows that being spider-man is far from peaceful; it’s just in the job. The whole concept itself is far from peaceful to begin with. Afterall, you have to get bitten by a literal spider just to become spider-man. That in of itself should speak a lot of words.
Miles continues his walk, darting his eyes in all directions possible. He was expecting *something*, just what?
It’s not even like this was a ‘spidey-sense’ thing. Hell, it’s not even like this was a COMMON sense thing. This was just pure paranoia that he tried to excuse by using his prior logic.
He wasn’t fooling anyone, by the way. Not even himself.
You’d expect for him to be relieved by the fact that people aren’t jumping down his throat and attacking him with questions.
But that part only made him more nervous as he walked through.
“Aye Miles!” A thick british voice calls out. The tone sounded happy, excited, even! Though that didn’t stop Miles paranoia.
At this point, it was sad to watch.
“Heeeeeyyyyy Hobie…” Miles awkwardly greets, a lazy smile showing on his face as he sheepishly rubs the back of his neck.
“Ay Mate! Nice ta finally see ya. Thought ya quit on us for a lil.” Hobie responds with a chuckle, patting Miles back and warmly smiling. Miles gulps. If this was a cheesy cartoon, it would be like one of those ‘he’s right behind me, isn’t he?’ moments.
“Uh.. nah man! I was just taking a break, yknow?” He lies, a nervous smile on his face. Hobie raises a brow, but he nods anyways. He shoves his hands into his pocket, looking at the other people work around the headquarters.
“So.. when were you gonna tell me ‘bout that situationship of yours?” He asks, glancing at Miles.
Well… that just made everything way worse.
The shorter boy looks down at his phone, the sudden mention of the situation brought some strong emotions to the table. Not like he couldn’t handle it, though.
“It’s… a long story.” He mutters, deciding it’s best to keep it vague.
Hobie nods yet again, tilting his head slightly.
“So sum it up.” He suggest as he begins to walk. Miles follows closely behind.
“Sum it up?” Miles repeats, the question floating in the air.
How exactly would he sum it up? The whole situation was a bunch of… nonsense. It was all Miles fault, his weak mentality really was going to be the end of him. There was nothing he could do, and there was nothing that would come of it. In short, it was a bunch of nothing piled onto more nothing.
Miles thinks for a moment before speaking.
“Nothing.”
He shrugs it off, trying to play it off like this situation didn’t affect him. He shrugs off his emotions towards this issue and his feelings for Pavitr.
Of course that didn’t work. He still felt some dread even *saying* that it was nothing; because it wasn’t just nothing. It was something. Atleast to him it was.
“So, you gonna give up on him? Cause I heard that somebody else is pretty interested in him.” Hobie inquires, breaking Miles out of his thoughts and the sudden silence that built up between them.
‘What?’ Was all he could think at that moment. He stops in his tracks, standing still for a moment.
Miles wasn’t exactly the jealous type, especially over someone who he wasnt even with, but right now? He was REALLY jealous.
“What do you mean ‘Someone’s interested in him’? Who?” Miles questions, you could tell in his voice that he was obviously stressing over this. He looks Hobie in the eyes, praying - no… - HOPING - that he was fibbing or lying.
Though deep down, Miles knew he wasn’t lying. Although Hobie would tell a joke, he’d never tell a lie.
Instead of responding with his voice and giving Miles the right to question him a million in one times, he just points it out to him.
Quickly, Miles snaps his neck to look, he moved his head so fast you’d assume he’d get whiplash from it. He looks in the distance, squinting a bit.
Low and behold, Pavitr and Margo were right there, laughing and talking up a storm. Margo was holding him by the arm, playfully hitting him here and there.
Miles watched the scene, his mouth agape. That one little thing just made Miles burn with jealousy. Not that he’d show it, though.
The turn of events definitely hurt his pride and left him envious, especially being that he considered Margo to be a friend.
Part of him wanted to go up there and call them out on it - tell them how much he’s endured throughout these past couple of days. How much his heart has been hurting and his brain has been turning against him, calling him the meanest and cruelest things on the planet.
Though at the same time, that wasn’t his place. He wasn’t with Pavitr so he had no right to get in the way of someone else’s crush.
And so, as jealous as one could possibly be in a situation like this, he just stands there. Staring with a glare and a mean mug on his face.
While he watches in his jealous rage, Hobie glances at the scene, back at him, then back to the scene again.
“Good thing you both moved on, eh? Otherwise that would’ve stung.” Hobie slyly remarks just to get no response in return. He raises a brow at the silence.
“Miles? You there mate?” He asks, turning back to look at Miles.
Standing in Miles spot was…
Nothing?
