5 times the avengers didn't realize natasha and peter's true relationship
The First Time
"Come on, Pete, keep up!" Natasha called over her shoulder as she jogged through Central Park.
Peter trailed several yards behind, huffing and puffing as he tried to match her pace. "I'm trying...Tasha...just...give me...a sec..." he panted.
Natasha stopped and turned, hands on her hips as she waited for him to catch up. "You're the one who wanted to start training together," she reminded him. "Gotta get that endurance up if you want to run with the Avengers."
"I know, I know," Peter said, finally reaching her. He bent over, hands on his knees as he caught his breath. "But you're like...a super soldier. I'm just a kid from Queens with spider powers."
Natasha ruffled his hair affectionately. "A very talented kid from Queens," she said. "Who's going to whip these Avengers into shape someday. But first we need to get you trained up."
She checked her watch. "Alright, two more laps around the reservoir then we'll call it a day." Before Peter could protest, she took off running again.
"Ugh, Tasha, no fair!" Peter called after her, forcing his legs back into motion.
After finally completing their run, Peter flopped down on the grass while Natasha stretched nearby.
"Nice work today, маленький паук," she said. "You improved your time by two minutes."
"Really?" Peter asked eagerly, perking up.
"Yep. A few more weeks of this and you'll be ready for anything." She tossed him a water bottle.
Peter took a long drink then splashed some on his face. "Thanks for training me, Nat," he said sincerely. "I know I complain a lot, but I really appreciate you taking the time."
"Of course," she said, ruffling his hair again. "Anything for my favorite spider."
Just then, Steve Rogers went jogging past. "Morning, you two!" he called. "Looking good out there!"
"Thanks, Cap!" Peter returned the greeting. He smiled up at Natasha. "The Avengers leader just complimented my training. Today is awesome!"
Natasha laughed and helped him to his feet. "Come on, маленький паук, let's get some breakfast."
The Second Time
"Peter, hurry up or we're going to be late!" Natasha called from the living room of the Avengers Tower. She checked the time on her phone impatiently.
"I can't find my Spider-Man mask!" Peter yelled from his bedroom. Drawers could be heard slamming open and closed as he frantically searched.
Natasha sighed and went to his room. It was a mess, clothes and gear strewn everywhere.
"Peter, I told you to have your suit ready last night," she chided.
"I know, I know! But I was up late working on web shooter upgrades and I guess I forgot." Peter flung open his closet again desperately.
Natasha spotted a bit of red fabric peeking out from under a pile of laundry. She pulled it out and held up the mask. "Looking for this?"
"Yes!" Peter exclaimed, grabbing it and hugging her excitedly. "You're the best, Nat!"
She ruffled his hair. "Yeah, yeah, just hurry up and get dressed. The press conference starts in 20 minutes."
Peter quickly pulled on the rest of his Spider-Man suit and they headed down to the waiting car. Happy Hogan raised an eyebrow at their tardiness but said nothing as he drove them to the venue.
As Peter fidgeted nervously with his mask, Natasha placed a reassuring hand on his shoulder. "You're going to do great. Just be your friendly neighborhood self and the public will love you."
Peter gave her a shaky smile. "Thanks, Nat. I'm glad you'll be up there with me."
Soon they were greeted by the flashing cameras and shouts of reporters as Peter was formally introduced as the newest member of the Avengers. Natasha stood by his side the whole time, a proud smile on her face.
Afterwards, Tony Stark came over to them. "Nice work, kid. You handled the vultures well." He turned to Natasha. "And thanks for getting him here in one piece. I know how teenagers are about punctuality."
Natasha just smiled. "No problem. Peter's a great kid, always happy to help him out."
Peter beamed at the praise from two of his heroes. "Best day ever!" he declared, making Natasha and Tony laugh.
The Third Time
Peter crept quietly through the vents of the Hydra base, following the directions Natasha was feeding him through the comms. He was on a covert mission to retrieve some data before destroying the facility.
"Okay, the server room should be just ahead on your right," Natasha said. "Drop down and do your thing."
"On it," Peter whispered back. He slid open the vent cover and descended on a web line.
The room was empty. Peter quickly hacked into the mainframe and initiated the data download. "Alright, I'm in. Starting the transfer now."
"Good. Grab the intel and get out of there," Natasha instructed.
Peter kept one eye on the progress bar as it crept upward. "Come on, come on..." he urged under his breath.
Heavy footsteps suddenly approached down the hall. "Security patrol!" Peter hissed. "I need more time!"
"I'll buy you some," Natasha said. "Be ready to move."
Over the comms, Peter heard the sounds of fighting, grunts and bodies hitting the floor. After an anxious few minutes, the progress bar hit 100% and Peter snatched the drive from the console.
"Got it, evacuating now!" He scurried back up into the vent just as more footsteps approached to investigate the unconscious guards.
Peter crawled as fast as he could through the maze of vents until he reached the rendezvous point outside. Natasha was already there waiting for him behind a quinjet.
As soon as Peter dropped from the vent, Natasha pulled him into a tight hug. "Thank god! Are you okay, Паучок?"
"I'm fine, the guards never saw me," Peter assured her, returning the hug.
Natasha examined his face worriedly. "No injuries? You sure you're not hurt?"
Peter smiled at her concern. "I promise, Tasha, I'm completely okay. Mission accomplished, thanks to you."
Natasha finally relaxed and tousled his hair. "Couldn't let my spider get tangled up in that web. Now let's blow this joint."
They boarded the quinjet together, mission successfully completed.
The Fourth Time
Peter sniffled miserably under a mountain of blankets on the couch. He had a raging fever and could barely lift his head without getting dizzy.
Natasha sat down next to him and pressed a cold washcloth to his forehead. "How you holding up, baby?"
"Awful," Peter croaked out. "Being sick is the worst."
"I know, I'm sorry," Natasha said sympathetically. She adjusted the blankets around him. "Think you could eat some soup?"
Peter's stomach rolled queasily at the thought. "No thanks," he mumbled.
"You need to keep your strength up," Natasha insisted. "Just a few spoonfuls?"
Too tired to argue, Peter reluctantly ate a small bowl of chicken noodle soup Natasha spoon fed him. She made sure he drank plenty of water and juice as well.
After he was done, Natasha let Peter rest his head in her lap, gently running her fingers through his hair. It was something that had always soothed him ever since he was a child.
Sure enough, Peter soon fell into a peaceful sleep. Natasha watched over him protectively, ready to spring into action if his condition worsened.
A little while later, Tony came looking for them. "There you are," he said when he spotted Natasha on the couch. "Bruce needs Peter to come take a look at some specs for upgrading his web shooters, think he's up for it?"
Natasha shook her head. "He's down for the count, poor kid can barely lift his head. Raincheck on the web shooters until this bug passes."
Tony nodded understandingly. "Got it. Well, feel better, Pete."
After Tony had left, Natasha kissed Peter's fevered brow. "Get some rest, Паучок. I'll be right here if you need anything."
The Fifth Time
Peter sat on the balcony of the Avengers Tower, staring up at the night sky. It was a rare clear night in the city, and the stars shone brightly overhead. But Peter took no comfort in their beauty.
Today was the anniversary of his Uncle Ben's death. It had hit Peter hard this year, the memories and guilt crashing over him like waves. He felt lost, adrift in the ocean of his grief.
Quiet footsteps approached, and then Natasha was settling down next to him. She didn't say anything at first, just providing silent company as she too gazed up at the stars.
Eventually, Peter spoke in a pained whisper. "I miss him so much, Nat. It's not fair."
Natasha wrapped an arm around his shoulders. "I know, Малыш. It hurts like hell to lose someone that important to you."
Peter leaned into her, tears falling freely down his cheeks. "I just wish I could talk to him one more time. To say how sorry I am, and how much I love him."
"He knows," Natasha said softly, brushing a hand through his hair. "Wherever he is now, he knows. You have the biggest heart of anyone I've ever met, Peter. Don't ever doubt that."
They sat in silence for a while longer, Natasha's steady presence slowly soothing the raging seas inside Peter.
"Thanks, Tasha," he finally whispered. "For everything."
She pressed a kiss to the top of his head. "Always, Паучок. Whenever you need me."
The One Time
It was movie night at the Avengers Tower, and the team was gathered in the entertainment room arguing over what to watch.
"I am not sitting through another one of your melodramatic rom-coms, Wilson," Bucky complained.
"Hey, The Proposal is a cinema classic!" Sam argued.
As the bickering continued, Natasha entered the room with Peter trailing behind her. "Alright, alright, at ease soldiers," she said, raising her hands placatingly. "The kid gets to pick tonight."
"Yes!" Peter fist pumped. "We're watching Star Wars!"
Everyone collectively groaned but didn't argue further. Peter eagerly set up the movie while Natasha went to make popcorn.
When she returned, Peter was seated on the floor waiting for her. Natasha sat down behind him and he immediately leaned back against her, getting comfortable.
Steve raised an eyebrow at their position. "Since when are you two so cuddly?"
Natasha shrugged as she handed Peter the popcorn bowl. "The kid likes to snuggle. I don't mind."
Peter grabbed a handful of popcorn. "Tasha gives the best hugs."
Tony gave them an odd look. "If you say so..." He hit play on the movie.
Throughout the film, Peter and Natasha subtly kept up their affectionate antics. She would run her fingers through his hair, he would grab her hand excitedly at a tense part. At one point Peter even laid his head in Natasha's lap.
Finally, when Peter fell asleep halfway through and Natasha gently maneuvered him so he was fully lying down with his head cradled in her lap, the other Avengers had to say something.
"Alright, what is going on with you two?" Sam asked, pausing the movie. "Because you're being weirdly...mother-son-ish."
Natasha raised an eyebrow. "You're just noticing that now?"
The others exchanged confused glances. "Um, yeah, when did this happen?" Bruce questioned.
"You guys seriously never realized?" Natasha said in disbelief. "I've been a mother figure to Peter since we met years ago after Germany. He's like a son to me." She ran a hand affectionately through Peter's hair.
"Hold up, hold up," Tony interjected. "How did we all miss this?"
"Because you're unobservant boys," Natasha said, rolling her eyes. She looked down at Peter's sleeping face. "But I knew from the moment I met this kid that I wanted to take care of him. And it just naturally developed into a maternal relationship over time. Right, Паучок?"
"Mmhmm," Peter mumbled sleepily, not opening his eyes.
The Avengers all glanced at each other, shaking their heads.
"Wow. Can't believe we didn't realize," Steve said, chuckling. "Sorry about that. But it's very sweet, you two are good for each other."
The others murmured agreement. Natasha just smirked, satisfied, and went back to running her fingers soothingly through Peter's hair.
