Y/N was another girl in the Spidersociety, quite the rebel and freespirit like her new-found friend Hobie Brown. They were quite the horror tag team, annoying Miguel to no ends with their shenanigans and rebellious acts. Y/N was also good friends with Gwen, Miles and Pavitr as well, but she always gravitated closer towards Hobie, and he to her mostly because of shared values. She was a new recruit and hit it off with him almost immediately, a connection formed instant. Cut to two weeks into this newfound friendship, Y/N found herself walking through the halls of the society to go to some boring, mandatory meeting.
"Ay you not waiting for me?" Y/N knew that charming accent from anywhere instantly, a smile forming on her face already as she stopped and let him catch up.
"Hey I was waiting for you, but you were so late I thought you were ditching out. As usual." She replied, a mocking tone lacing her voice as she turned to him. He was so tall, towering above mostly everyone here. It was a tad bit intimidating.
"That does sound like me. Actually, you know me too well because that's exactly what I plan on doing." His brown eyes searched hers, his confident laid back air intoxicating. He leaned down a little closer to hear her when she replied. Y/N nodded her head, "Oh yeah, tell me why you're running up here to meet me then if you're not planning on going?"
Hobie handed her torn paper scrawled in his messy handwriting with a crayon of all things, a location of some small venue. His fingers seemed to almost linger a little on hers as he handed it to her, but so brief of a moment you'd question whether it was intentional or not. Y/N noticed however, but brushes it off. "You'll be glad to know I'm giving you the honour of seeing me play live with the band. Tonight. You down?"
What Hobie loved about Y/N was her sense of adventure and spontaneity. He was playing it off with his cool demeanour but he really wanted her to come tonight.
Y/N looked down at the venue's location on the slightly crumpled paper. She couldn't help but let out a little laugh of the messiness of it, "You're creative with the invite I'll give you that. Hey sure, why not? What time." She felt this indescribable giddiness when she was in his presence, as if she felt like a little kid again almost. It was hard sometimes to meet his gaze straight on, his style and striking looks was often distracting. The flashy piercings and gorgeous hair, and his eyes. God where do you look when an art piece come to life is in front of you like this?
Hobie felt so glad at her response, he was really looking forward to this gig now. "9pm but I can't promise it'll exactly be that time, you know how it is." Y/N felt elated now, was he only going to her invite her? That was normal though, friends do that all the time. She couldn't help but feel special he decided to go out of his way to do this and invite her this way though. It's insanity she hasn't seen one of them yet anyway, he always rambles to her news and gossip about the band and what they work on.
"You can extend the invite to the rest of the gang by the way. Doesn't make a tap of a difference to me though, long as you're there." Her heart dropped at the others being invited, but she didn't understand why she felt that way. However her pulse started to race a little at that last part, her eyes narrowing as a playful smirk graced her face. That was just a normal comment to make though. Right?
Before she gathered her wits and replied, he reached down to her shoulders, clasping his ringed fingers against her suit and turned her gently, giving her a little nudge from behind forward with his arms. "You have that meeting to go to now though, need one of us to show up else Miguel gonna flip at us both." He teased, before letting go and moving back, "See ya later then, Y/N."
He sauntered off, leaving Y/N with goosebumps all along up her arms, from that touch. God, she needs to get her shit together. She couldn't help the butterflies in her stomach though, and the excitement of later on. Shaking her head she curses under her breath and hurries to the meeting, hoping to sneak in unnoticed.
Luck must've been on her side because she wasn't caught going in late. Hobie was definitely going to get a lashing later, but he couldn't care less about it at this point. Now Y/N was getting ready to go to the gig, with Gwen beside her. "Have you ever done gigs like this, Gwen?" Y/N asked, moving closer to a mirror to lash on her mascara better. Gwen watched her friend with a curious expression, "Yeah yeah, often actually. Well, not on as a big scale as that venue, more like smaller gigs." The two girls chatted on and on. Then there was a comfortable silence, as Y/N put on her sparkling lipgloss.
"You know, I've seen the way he looks at you." Gwen said matter of factly, a teasing tone in her voice. Y/N stopped in her tracks, almost dropping her lipgloss. She tried to ensue an air of non-chalance, smiling back at her friend. "He can't look at people now?" Gwen rolled her eyes, giving Y/N a light shove. "C'mon Y/N, I didn't even mention his name yet you know who I was talking about. I think he's especially fond of you. He seems more..awake when you're around. He talks about you too when you're not around."
This was striking to hear for Y/N, Hobie was the sort of guy who had friends and all but kept distance at the same time. People don't ever really strike his interest enough for him to talk about them often, so this was a start. She had to keep her cool though, here. "What do you mean? What does he say?" Gwen smiled a little, "Oh my god where to start. He seems to find a way to have to always ask if anyone's seen you around, how cool you were on a mission, how you gave him great advice, the list goes on. Maybe he doesn't show it really to you much, but I can see it clear as day." This has Y/N stumped, he was so complex but it just made her want to know more.
"Huh." Y/N replied, now finished. "Anyway, let's go meet with the others and get there for 9pm." Gwen could tell her friend was thrown off a little by her comment, but all she did was shake her head and smile. "Yeah, let's go."
Now the streets of London were bustling with loads of people, couple of thousand were going to this gig. It was well night-time, and a clear, crisp night in late October. However, there was an air of excitement and delirium, as the field where the concert was going to take place filled up. There was many stands selling drinks and food, and the stage was massive and up high. Y/N and the others, (Pavitr and Miles met them later on) were at the barrier for the show. It was pretty exciting.
Y/N couldn't help but wonder where he was, the sounds and lights people were still doing some tests. She looked sideways at her friends, it was sort of strange to see them all being normal teenagers outside of the spider suits. Being in another dimension to watch a concert too, it was pretty crazy. She heard the chatter of Pavitr and Miles comparing crazy mosh pit videos they found of concerts like this, and Gwen was insisting it was going to be more tame than that.
Suddenly, near the steps of the stage, she could make out in the flashing lighting of white lights of the stage, Hobie with the rest of the band. Time seemed to slow somehow. The punk guys near him were talking to some punk looking girls who were practically throwing themselves at all of them as one of the sound guys talks to the lead of the band.
Envy seeped into Y/N, her thoughts racing at how she wished the other girls would just go away. She never was an insecure person, but seeing them all around the band members and mostly Hobie was annoying her.
She tried to ignore them, she was pretty far away from them but she couldn't help but let the ordeal catch her eyes. The voices around her seemed distant and muddled, as she glanced at them and saw some chick really going for Hobie, twirling her hair and staring up at him probably talking utter sweet nonsense to him.
Y/N rolled her eyes and was about to look away fully when she noticed Hobie was gently trying to let her down it seemed from far away, but his eyes always seemed to be on Y/N, not that other girl.
Y/N's heart raced, no way he could make her out from here. But she could practically feel his gaze linger on her, the energy from it.
This moment of tangible synastry was cut short though when the band was ushered behind the stage up the steps, and the crowd started going wild. Y/N couldn't lie, she was really excited for what it was gonna be like, Hobie aside.
They all went out on stage, and all she could hear was the beat of the drums and guitar chords blaring across the stadium, the bass ringing underneath it all. Everyone was jumping with the music, and the main lead of the band started yelling hyping everyone up.
Screams everywhere, lights flicking down and up around everyone's face, music blaring in her ears front row, you could just lose yourself in the energy of the moment. They were a pretty big band, and the crowd loved them.
Especially being front row with so many people around you, it felt like there was no escape from this otherworldly moment. Hobie was lead guitarist supporting the vocalist, and they sounded good. He was so skilled at his guitar, it was like seeing art. She could hear it ringing in her ears. Hobie definitely wasn't shy on stage, he was going full throttle with his guitar, going back to back with the other guitarist, doing insane riffs and leaning his head back. It was intense, but such a spectacle you couldn't drag your eyes from them. You'd almost be afraid to blink.
God it was so attractive. This was such an electric feeling, adrenaline running like she's never felt before. She doubted he could make her out from everyone in the dark and random flashing of the lights, and being up so high but sometimes it felt like he was making direct eye contact with her from up on the stage.
She could get used to going to concerts like this.
