Never had a dream come true
"We were never going to work, Namor, you know that…"
"Shuri, you know it's not true—" Namor grabbed her wrist, not letting her leave like this.
"We weren't even supposed to fall in love—" Shuri breathed out softly.
"But we did, I did, you did, Shuri- stay- all the time we spent together, the love between us, it's real, it's—" Namor had never begged anyone so humbly in his entire life, except her; even if it meant he had to kneel down.
Namor held her cheeks in despair, pressing their foreheads together tightly, pleading for Shuri to change her mind.
"It doesn't matter anymore. The alliance won't change; you're always welcome in Wakanda."
"What makes you think I'd let you go?" he declared firmly, Namor's gaze turning desperate and fierce, filled with malice.
Shuri's icy stare softened in an instant, her eyes full of pain as she looked at him.
Namor knelt down immediately, after realizing his mistake, he was willing to grovel once more in a hushed, broken voice, "I've never begged for anything in my life, nor had a dream come true. Until the day that I found you by the river, Shuri— You are my only dream - are you so cruel as to deny me even that dream?"
He looked up at her with tears in his eyes, and Shuri's heart ached uncontrollably.
She followed him down on her knees, a king should not kneel, let alone a god. She cradled his face as Namor had done countless times before. "Let's break up," she whispered softly, planting a kiss on his forehead.
"Impossible, I won't let you go. Even if you escape from Talokan, you can't escape from Wakanda. I..." He stubbornly held her and shook his head frantically, tears streaming down relentlessly.
"I'm tired, Namor. I'm so tired. The love you've given me is too heavy, I can't bear it anymore."
Namor's heart shattered.
A stubborn tear flows down the corner of Shuri's eye.
"No. I beg you. I beg you, Shuri, I beg you to stay, don't leave me, in yakunaj. You're tired, then take a break for a while. I promise not to disturb you. Rest as long as you need. I'll be there for you always, whatever you want to do, your hopes, your dreams, your goals, I'll support your every desire, just don't part ways with me—" Namor choked up. He knew no matter how much he pleaded, she would still leave.
"You've shattered the last dream I ever had, where would I find dreams now?" Shuri whispered gently, wiping away his tears incessantly, yet they kept coming. "But it doesn't matter anymore. Even without me, you can live just fine. I'll see you at our next council meeting, K'uk'ulkan. " and Shuri left.
Leaving Namor alone, kneeling on the ground, weeping in pain, his intense emotions stirred the entire ocean, and his heart-wrenching cries echoed through the currents.
🌊🌊🌊
The oceans had been restless for the past few months, filled with the cries and complaints of the animals. Namora and Attuma bring him some xocotl and corn, and stay submerged in the water, listening to the occasional sobs drifting down from the surface, sighing and shaking their heads. They had sent the people to comfort the animals, asking them to be understanding; after all, their god-king had suffered a heartbreak.
🐳"Is K'uk'ulkan alright?" One of their whales floats around the city, nuzzling at Namora when she comes back to the city.
"No." Namora shakes her head in defeat.
🐋"It's been several months already, just a mere heartbreak, why hasn't it passed yet???" The other sings annoyingly.
"Give him time." Attuma gave her a reassuring pat, promising it will get better over time.
🦈"Hahahaha, just one human girl and he's like this, how pitiful! It's just a first love, he can find another one if it's lost! Crying day and night like a baby!" The great shark mocked.
Namora and Attuma shook their heads again, they didn't want to agree, but it was somehow the truth. If the Black Panther could let go, why their K'uk'ulkan can't?
The next time Namor saw Shuri was at the next council meeting as she said.
"I forgot about this. I want to give it back to you, I know it's important to you. Find a girl you like in the future and give this bracelet to her. "Shuri slipped his mother'sbracelet back into Namor's hand and smiled before walking away, leaving him clutching the bracelet tightly.
That night was far from peaceful either; his wails woke up all the animals. The city's barriers may have muffled the sound, but marine creatures living beyond were not as fortunate.
They all swarmed to the cenote, protesting at Namor furiously.
🐠"You are embarrassing our ocean, what a laughingstock!!!"
🐟"We can't even rest peacefully!"
🐡"Oh, don't worry, K'uk'ulkan! There are plenty of fish in the sea!"
🦀"Maybe you should start a 'sad songs' melody on the crustaceans now."
🦑"Well, at least you won't have to share your kelp anymore."
🦞"Guess that fairy tale romance didn't have a happy ending, huh?"
🦐"K'uk'ulkan, look on the bright side! You've got more time to binge-watch our shrimp shows now!"
🦈"The mighty sea king can't even keep a human girl, how pathetic, hahahahaha!!!"
The incessant chattering of the animals infuriated Namor even more, making him cry even harder in his hut.
They swim off quickly, fearing that their god-king's cries might hurt their ears. Oh, my chaacness, this 500-year-old man is such a big baby‼️
The next time he saw Shuri was at the council meeting. She was chatting with a guy Namor had never seen before, they were talking so closely, Shuri even smiled at him—!!
Namor's eyes burn red with jealousy. With a fiery glower, he shreds that person to pieces if he ever had the chance.
Namor was just an arm's length away, close enough for him to tear him apart with his own hands. Shuri stood in front of him immediately, "What are you doing? He's a guest!" She quickly apologized to the person, explaining that he had been acting strangely lately due to a recent breakup.
And it's all because of you‼️ Namor was so furious that he flew out of the window, Shuri even scolded him for another man! Namor cried his eyes out all the way, dipping into the water as he hurried back home, still sobbing as something caught up to him.
🐬"You know, they say heartbreak is a great source of inspiration for art. Maybe you'll become a famous poet, you should start writing, K'uk'ulkan!"
🐙"Chin up! Who needs love when you can have snails and clams?"
🦈"Looks like your human girl is officially single and ready to mingle! I saw her swimming with another guy earlier on!!! You lost to a human!!"
Namor decided not to let the oceans rest tonight.
☀️☀️☀️
Namor sat at the rocks, gazing up at the sun he brought to his people, mourning the sun he lost as tears vanished into the water, leaving gleaming traces—
🐚"Don't worry, K'uk'ulkan. I'm sure your soulmate is out there somewhere, probably stuck in the current traffic."
🪸"Well, now you can finally catch up on all the sleep you missed while you were in that relationship."
🪼"Cheer up, now you can focus on yourself and Talokan"
🐬"Well, now you have more time to focus on your hobbies, like collecting breakup songs for the sirens to sing for you, hahahahahaha—" a bunch of dolphins spats short clicks and sharp whistles at him, they twirled around Namor, laughing at him boldly.
GREAT, the entire marine life seemed to join in laughing at him, and Namor wailed even harder. Shuri didn't want him anymore, and he felt like crying so intensely that he could shatter every creature mocking him, causing an oceanic quake! Namor couldn't believe it— that Shuri truly didn't want him anymore!!!!
🦈"Just face the reality and accept it, she doesn't want you anymore, you pathetic grown-ass man acting like a crybaby, hahahahaha—"
Namor bawled even louder.
Part 2.
Shuri made a quiet gesture towards Namora and she nodded, then left. She stood outside his hut, listening to the intermittent, faint cries coming from within. Without words, Shuri would have thought a child was crying inside. The broken sobs, the uncontrollable choking, and the sounds of sniffles. She had thought her heart wouldn't be affected, that it would remain calm, without a ripple. But that wasn't the case…
Shuri was certain that it couldn't be a child crying inside because children don't suppress their cries.
They cry out loud, unless they've suffered a great grievance or are afraid of being scolded upon discovery.
Namor had cried enough for the day, wiping away his tears, getting up to wash his face outside his hut, and then going to eavesdrop on what she had done today.
Today is the birthday of one of the whale calves, and they asked if he could keep quiet, so he kept quiet.
Rubbing his eyes, Namor emerged from the hut, his swollen eyes and nose from crying making him look pitiful.
Namor's appearance tugged at Shuri's heartstrings, a mixture of pain and an almost involuntary chuckle escaped her parted lips, though he didn't even glance up, lost in his own thoughts as he rushed to the side of the well to fetch water for washing his face.
As he passed by her, Namor grumbled under his breath, "Don't want to eat," throwing a tantrum like a child and snapping at her in frustration. His voice was hoarse from crying and he had even mistaken Shuri for a handmaiden.
"Never had a dream come true, so why bother eating," he self-mockingly said. Namor rubbed his eyes again, feeling a tinge of soreness as his eyes teared up. He went back to put on a hand-woven cloak, his nose stuffed from crying. Just as he passed by the maid, Namor suddenly inhaled sharply through his nose—
Shockingly, he caught a whiff of her scent. It was the scent of the sun, mixed with a hint of sweet mango and the clinical fragrance of the laboratory.
Namor abruptly looked up and turned around, and there Shuri stood before him like a dream .
"What are you here for?"
Namor instinctively asked in a daze, his voice hoarse, her eyes stinging.
Her fingers reached out slightly, carefully holding two of his fingers as Shuri whispers softly,
"You love me. Real or not real?"
Namor remained silent for a while, just as Shuri thought he...
Then he shifted his fingers, enveloping Shuri's much smaller hand completely within his. Namor whispers breathlessly,
"Real."
Two bodies entwined on the bed, passionately embracing each other, their heat melding with heat. Tongues eagerly sought one another, lips meeting in a fervent kiss and moans of satisfaction escaping as they kissed. Two fingers continued to thrust into her wetness, Namor pressing Shuri firmly onto the bed to prevent her from escaping. Her legs spread apart as she urgently gasped for air against his shoulder, writhing uncontrollably in the blazing fire of desire, emitting convulsive and broken moans.
"Let's see if you dare leave me again," he thrust forcefully into her tight warmth, yearning for their reunion as their bodies entangled together, their shameless moans trying to piss off every living creature underwater.
"I might-" Shuri chokes out, challenging him as always.
A few hot tears trickled down her face, even seeping into her eyes and spilling into her opened mouth that were parted in a blissful moan. Shuri couldn't resist moving in sync with his slow and intoxicating rhythm, Namor's deep and heavy thrust hitting a sweet spot, sending her head spinning, until Shuri finally lifted her gaze to meet his.
Namor's tears flowed continuously, dropping onto her face, revealing the tension in his body. His tears mixed with her sweat and slick, kissing the arch of her delicate neck, the unsteady rise and fall of his chest matching with her swaying chest, the warmth of his palm pressing at her lower abdomen and the mingling burning sensation of their fuck.
Her tightness clenched tightly to his hard, fervent heat, Namor's vulnerability and heartbreak exposed before Shuri, igniting an overwhelming excitement as her body quivered intensely. Shuri pulls him down to press her face against his to nuzzle into Namor's ear.
"I'm surprised your home hasn't been flooded by your tears," Shuri said in a breathless voice, teasing.
Namor's breath hitched sharply, disbelief evident in his gaze as he looked at her with tears welled. Shuri leans up to kiss his brows and eyes, her tongue licking away his tears, tracing a path to his mouth. Comfortingly, she pressed her lips to his as she soothes him. Namor melted into her kiss, hugging her hard and mellow.
They gradually slowed down their pace with tenderness, making love gently and affectionately. Namor effortlessly lifted her and rolled over, pressing Shuri down onto himself. His large hands massaged her slender waist, lifting her and letting her sink down in one deep dip, causing Shuri to cry out in pleasure in his mouth.
His one hand kneaded her breast while the other rubbed her clit, then every movement to a halt. Shuri eagerly sucked on his tongue, urging him to continue, she pushed him away as Namor stopped moving, looking at him incredulously, her legs too weak to move on their own.
"While it's not your fault, you've still managed to subject me to ridicule by the entire ocean's creatures for more than a few months. You want me to give in to you, Shuri~? Perhaps you should think about how to please me instead."
Namor languidly caressed her body, his touch soft and teasing as he admired his woman all over, covered in his tears and sweat, she reek of him. Shuri retorted angrily, "In your dreams! You embarrass yourself and then blame me! Unfair! Hmph!" He's unbelievable!
"Ah, well why don't you come down yourself…" Namor dared to suggest. Shuri, unwilling to give up, lifted herself up, but in the process, she ended up squeezing him too tightly. The slow drag, torturous ascent had drained all her strength and she weakly settled back down, both of them moaning unabashedly in ecstasy.
His thick length smoothed out every crease on her walls, and Shuri's desire for Namor just grew stronger and stronger. She wriggled her hips and cried out in desperation, his hands reached out to cup her face, as he kissed away her tears this time.
"I'm easily pleased, you know. Just a little pampering and I'll be happy. How about that?" Namor tempted Shuri, cooing at her like coaxing a baby.
Shuri yielded immediately.
"I beg you, I plead with you, Namor, love me as you please, take me, I know I broke your heart, I wasn't thinking straight, I shouldn't have said that. We can fuck and scream until we wake up the entire ocean if need be. Whoever laughed at you, I'll make them pay! Make love to me, make me love you, love me like you do, touch me like you do, please, love me harder, Namor, please—"
Shuri quickly gave in, incoherently trying to please him. Namor, too, kept his promise and started moving when she uttered "I beg you," chokingly. And it was his turn to soothe her nerves, her uneasiness, her insecurity. And so, they reconciled and make up in the gentle intimacy of their lovemaking.
She woke up thirsty in the middle of the night, and before Shuri even opened her eyes, Namor lifted her up and cradled her in his embrace, settling her against his warm chest. He fed her a few sips of water from his mouth and she drank in a daze, then leaned against his chest sleepily, feeling reliant . Content. Safe. Peace, at last.
Shuri couldn't remember why she had wanted to break up with him months ago anymore. Namor gently patted her and coaxed her back to sleep. Suddenly, a profound sadness overcame Shuri, tears slowly fell from the corners of her eyes onto his chest, onto his heart.
Namor lowered his head to gaze at Shuri, her little face glistened with tear stains in the dim blue glow of home . He leaned down with a gentle sigh, then tenderly kissed her forehead. Shuri raises her hand, wanting to— Namor took her hand, placing a gentle peck at the heart of her palm, then placed her warm hand at his cheek.
Namor holds Shuri tightly, she leans up and they exchange soft kisses to express their love, tasting each other's tears. He hovered by her lips, breathing softly and whispering,
"You love me. Real or not real?"
Another tear rolled down Shuri's cheek as she softly pressed her lips against his and whispered,
"Real."
Namor woke up in the morning and rubbed his eyes, instinctively reaching out to the side, but there was nothing there. A lone tear slipped through his eyes— Oh, what was he doing? He pondered for a moment, realizing that yesterday was the baby whale's birthday and he needed to go prepare a gift for it. Yet something felt off today. What was it? Why didn't I give it yesterday? Namor shrugged and walked away.
She was gone.
As if it were all just a dream that had never happened.
What's more heartbreaking than a breakup?
Shuri never existed or happened to Namor.
