New Beginnings
Izuku has never Been anyone important in Japan. He's always been the useless Deku that you could throw around since 4. Before the coming of the age of 4 the teachers loved Izuku's heroic nature and praised him for it. They found his curiosity and questions amusing and entertained them at the time. Yet all things come to an end right? That all drastically changed when he was announced quirkless at the bottom of the food chain. The only thing the quirkless got were the scraps left behind for them to scavenge for. Instead of being the current school's ‘smart little izuku 'he was seen as less than human, if not human at all. They only could see the stupid Useless Deku Nothing more. They never bothered to look deep enough to see izuku, not Deku.
Deku was something everyone knew him as after Kacchan gave him such a title. Most would say he should be honored to even be acknowledged by his best friend Kacchan. Deku was the most fitting name for him, as they would say. Deemed Useless, a useless puppet nothing more in the society today. He got all the wrong cards in such a game but he'd make due he always has.
Not only did his school change for him but his household had also made the according adjustments. His Father shortly left to go ‘Overseas’ after he was shown up as quirkless. His mother insisted it was because it was' of business' and he didn't care for the diagnosis but her mask of lies was never a good one. It wasn't long before his mothers switch flipped and he was nothing more than another person wasting the oxygen on earth. It seemed fit that his mother didn’t seem to acknowledge his existence after his diagnosis. He missed the hugs, the affection and gentle touches he used to get, the encouraging words and phrases. He Found it fine and she still somewhat cared. She does not . She still let him live in her apartment which was asking for a lot. Izuku Mostly took care of himself now n’ days but didn’t mind it. It was fine.
From the young age of 4 he learned something you don't learn until you're too deep into your life of lies. 'Not all men were created equal.' He didn't have a choice to enjoy the oblivious wall that was put up for kids making them look away at the cruel fate that awaited them. He really did wish he did but not everything is fair is it?
Yet For Izuku it never got better over the years of torment but worse 90% of the time. The Bullying got more excessive over the years. He’d always come home with some type of injury some worse than others. Some leaving scars as reminders He never understood why he had to get hurt over something he's not able to control. He did, he knew exactly why. why even waste your time on him, why even go out of your way to do such things . Inko His Mother would never notice and if she did she shrugged it off. It only ever bothered her when his uniforms had to be replaced and she had to waste more money on him. While He was quite sure she knew about the bullying yet it didn't matter in this case if she did, Inko wouldn’t do anything about it either way. it would be too much of a hassle for her.
Over the years of isolation as he was treated like a disease he fell into a few hobby’s of his own during his freetime. He was extremely Careful not to out his hobbies in school, not wanting to give them one more thing to shove him around for. He didn't need anymore targets on his back as he already had enough of them.
These hobby's of Izukus fell into the categories of Analyzing, Hacking, Chess, making things (support gear or inventions) and Drawing they are the few hobbies he fell into over the years. Izuku had a lot of free time, so he had to figure out some way to entertain himself. So he filled up his hours with a few things to keep his mind on. And off the torture, the burns. their words.. Her words, the scars, the looks, his thoughts.
He knew why he was avoided like the plague, so he had to be something more than just a deku. He had to be. He didn't get a choice he need to be something before they throw him out like trash for good. they already did Since he was always isolated like the plague, trapped with his thoughts all time. It was more like a routine at this point. He learned to try to escape the loop of a routine, by filling it up with new things to learn. In the quirkless laws there is a bunch of loopholes for Izuku to tinker with; he practically memorized everything there is to know about it.
Sometimes when all fails it was torture from time to time being stuck alone with his thoughts and his little human interaction but he grew used to the numbness. the aching feeling of loneliness, he had no choice but to suppress most of his emotions over the years.
Everyone knew it and so did he. His thoughts told him so He’d never be anything more than Japan's Useless deku who's a waste of air.
Oh But how poor little Izuku longed to be a hero. He practically itched to be one. To save those who needed it the most like him he wanted to be a hero more than anything. Izuku wanted to save everyone he could. Like all might in a way but less.. almight if you understand? His only goal he ever had was that He wanted to save people; it was in his nature.
Sometimes he thought he could, While everyone thought otherwise, they doubted him. Not to his surprise.
“You’ll never be a hero deku!”
“I don’t get why he doesn’t just give up..?”
“Like a Useless deku like you could be anything!”
“He’s such a freak.. He’s so creepy he’d never be a good hero.”
“You think Youcould be a hero? What a joke.”
“I think it's best if you just let go of this hero dream.. It's not going to happen izuku.”
“Look, the Quirkless freak thinks he can be someone!”
“Why does he even bother living?”
Despite all that he still strived forward.
He always loved hero’s as a kid even now he was a hero geek. Mostly their quirks he also found them interesting. Other than that He especially loved the pre-quirk heroes the avengers . Izuku has always loved this topic in the little history they were taught in school But he learned everything he could without his school. Anything about the avengers Izuku would try to get his hands on, even scraps of information on them nothing escaped his grasp. well most of the time.
While Izuku has a personal favorite which is Ironman, because he loved his support gear and the fact that he didn’t have any special abilities. Izuku had fallen into the hobby of making support gear like tony starks but he never was able to do it much in Inko’s apartment. He strived to make things just like he did so he mostly just had a bunch of notebooks on ideas and blueprints, they were never able to be put to use as he didn't have such.. materials.
A long time ago Before the Era of quirks they only had a few that would continuously save the world from the super natural dangers. It was more of a thankless job back in the pre-quirk era. Now n’ days most heroes are in it for fame or money. To which Izuku hated that fact.
The avengers were the main heroes in the pre-quirk era, while there were other heroes too they were the main group. The avengers had a museum with a bunch of their equipment they had or weapons were on display, it was extremely secure. Sadly it was hidden away from the public as no one was taught their history and most of the world had forgotten about them.
There was only one thing not in the secure Museum with everything else. Thor’s hammer, the Mjolnir. He was one of the only avengers truly remembered. They were taught his history specifically. It was said when Thor threw the hammer down to earth it landed in the park at where it currently sits. The park is in a now known place known as Musutafu, his home town.
It’s been there for centuries waiting. When it first landed people from all around the world got the message that the person to lift his hammer would take their place as the new God of thunder. This caused an uproar in people all around the world to try. But to no avail it was never able to be lifted before. Even Allmight, himself tried it didn’t work to many people's surprise.
The hammer still sits in the center of the park, it was changed into a park dedicated to Thor and the Mjolnir It was named The Ranto Park.
Izuku would visit the park when he was younger before he was diagnosed. He had never gotten the chance to try to pick up the Mjolnir before but he was sure, he knew a quirkless deku like him wouldn’t be able to pick up such a thing. He should still try.
Either way Izuku strived to become a hero but he had to be more realistic as many told him. But he still wouldn’t give up, at least not yet.
Currently in the present time Izuku was on the run from Kacchan and his little band of followers. He was quick to take a sharp turn into a random alleyway losing them. He was extremely skilled in dodging and running away from them with his years of practice. He let out a shaky breath he didn’t realize he was holding and made the decision to walk the other way to get out of the alleyway to avoid running into Kacchan again.
When he emerged from the alleyway he was in an unfamiliar area, looking around he noticed he ended up next to a park right outside the alley. He shrugged it off walking into the park looking around for a place to sit and catch his breath after running for a good while.
When he looked around the park more he noticed he was in The Ranto Park it only made him realize how long it's been since he was last there. So he took a turn into the clearing in the park which was the main area, where the Thor’s hammer is. He put a halt to his steps, stopping directly in front of the Mjolnir. He took a moment to just look and admire and let it sink in that he was looking at such a weapon. He was too focused and a bit out of it staring at the hammer he didn’t notice the person approaching him from behind until they spoke up.
“You going to give it a try and lift it?” The person questioned from behind. It wasn’t until a second he registered the man's voice behind him, causing him to jump out of his skin. He was quite startled, quickly whipped around to where the mysterious voice was to face them.
The man that stood behind him was way taller than Izuku (Izuku is 5 '6 while Loki's 6' 2) He had a nice shoulder length of black wavy hair. The man had intoxicating green eyes that stared at him with curiosity. They also Wore a fancy green shirt and a tie, with some nice black pants with gold accents. As well as a small gold chain attached to a black belt. They also wore fancy black boots that seemed quite expensive he you asked him. He made the solution that they were definitely a foreigner. It seemed as though their Japanese was quite good but had its flaws. He didn’t notice any physical changes which got him curious about their quirk. Perhaps the guy had a either or an emitter type of quirk-
“Your mumbling- So are you going to answer the question.?” They sounded a bit irritated, his words causing him to snap out of it and mentally curse at himself for getting, while quickly formulating a reply.
“W-well no.. I-I just came here by-by accident! W-well erm.. Not really but I was just admir-ing it..” He quickly responded, he hated how much he stuttered over his words. As Izuku nervously was watching, and waiting for the guy's reaction or reply. He started to mess around with the collar of his messed up uniform.
It was about a minute before the guy finally replied (he was counting).
“Right.. Well, have you ever tried to pick it up?” he pondered the question for a moment he knew he never tried before so why was he hesitating? He shook off the thoughts for now. Those thoughts could be future Izuku's problem.
“No, I never bother to try.. Someone like me wouldn’t be able to pick it up anyways..” he mumbled the last part making it barely audible. He hung his head fidgeting with his hands.
The green-eyed guy raised a brow at the last part. It was just audible enough for him to catch it. The guy let out a heavy sigh, seemingly slightly disappointed for some reason. The Guy decided not to push why he said that last part, everyone has their secrets right? So instead they spoke up.
“You’ll never know if you never try, yeah?” The guy's tone could be read as if it was laced with a bit of a teasing yet playful tone. It would seem as if they wanted him to try.
“I mean y-yeah.” He quietly said, looking down at the ground to his feet. The silence between them felt deafening and quite awkward making the air feel heavy. He glanced to the side where the Mjolnir sat before looking right back up at the guy, speaking up.
“Why are you here?” he suddenly asked, staring directly at the man's face. The guy had a blank expression painted on his face from what he saw. But he knows better than anyone that the most important thing to wearing a mask is that no one, even yourself from time to time, can't see past is ideal. He decides not to say anything about it, I mean they barely knew each other either way.
“Waiting.” The guy said blandly. It was quite a simple answer truly but that just leads him to wanting to ask more questions, Izuku has always been the one to be searching for every little detail, clue and information. He has always craved for more knowledge in everything, even the simplists of answers but he doesn’t pry and just nods in acknowledgement.
Before Izuku could say or add anything more the man walks away. He frowns at that, before looking right back at the Mjolnir.
He Knows he’s the quirkless freak to which no one would bother to look for him if he suddenly went missing. They would have one less waste of air to worry about but just maybe he didn’t have to be the useless deku anymore.
And at that thought he slowly walked up to where the hammer sat in all its glory, Izuku exclaimed it, taking in every little detail to it. When he made it just a foot of distance between him and the hammer. He didn’t reach out to grab but instead all he could do was just stare.
This was Thor's hammer, one of the original avengers. He was the God of thunder. He thinks really hard about it. What makes him a quirkless nobody thinking that he can pick it up when even Al lmight couldn’t. For Yami’s sake the #1 Hero wasn’t even able to.
He wilts in self doubt standing in front of the hammer. Izuku has always been one to overthink every little detail of things but this isn’t even a hard choice? It's more of a do it and get it over with situation, a grab n’ go you could say. So why is he hesitating..? Because he could never amount than anything more than a useless deku
Izuku just stares at the untouched hammer for a good minute before reaching out to grab onto the handle…
But..
He doesn’t grab it.
He brings his hand back to his chest in defensive matter, lowering his head down. He looks away from the Mjolnir frowning. ‘It isn’t worth it, I shouldn't waste anyone else's time.’ He lets out a heavy sigh shuffling away from the hammer slowly, dragging his feet along.
He makes his way out of the park not noticing the lingering eyes on his back as he leaves The Ranto Park. He’s used to the stares. How is this any different?
He’s on the route back to Inko's apartment, kicking the rocks along the sidewalk as he walks down it. Izuku was a bit lost in his thoughts walking back thinking about plenty of things.
Then he pauses realizing he never got that man’s name. He shrugs it off, it was Izukus lost anyways, maybe he’ll see him again.
He would’ve liked to know what the strange man’s quirk was, and maybe analyze it, which is one of his favorite things to do. He’s always admired quirks from a young age and fell in analyzing quirks really early on.
It’s been one of his favorite hobbies since as long as he can remember. Heroes have always been fun analyzing even if they’ve done things or he just dislikes them for a few reasons. For Kamis sake he’ll even analyze Villain’s Quirks! They even make it into his list to analyze their quirks.
He knew it was quite a stupid hobby, and it was creepy for a quirkless Deku like himself to do such a thing. Just like everyone says . But it was always still an enjoyable thing to do.
—
Loki watched as the green haired kid, his hair representing a bush, hesitated to reach for the Mjolnir, but to his surprise instead of trying to pick it up he pulled his hand back, before shuffling away out of the park. He frowned at that. Still after all these years not one person could lift His hammer.
He was Quite curious as to why the green kid didn’t even try after such a dragged on staring contest with the Mjolnir. He had many questions but zero answers to him and he’d doubt he’d ever have the answer.
When he did talk to the kid he seemed to truly show how smart he truely was even if it was just for a moment when the kid first laid eyes on him. The way he picked out each detail apart with those green eyes in seconds surprisingly amazed him. It almost made him want to take a step back. (key word almost) It was almost as if the kid was picking him apart from the outside to the inside just at a glance, quite terrifying skills to have if he’d say so himself.
He’d pondered if he’d ever see the kid again. He seemed quite skittish for someone so young too. This random kid made Loki question multiple things, things he could not be bothered to look further into.
Otherwise today for Loki was quite a bore. Nothing interesting happened on earth today. It was like a routine for Loki everyday coming back here from dusk to dawn to wait for someone. Anyone. To just finally lift the hammer.
It's been centuries of the Mjolnir just sitting here in a park in Japan left ownerless and on its own.
Loki let out a sigh walking away from the spot he was watching the kid from and looked across the park to where a young child sat not too far from their parent. The child's parent seemed to be on an important phone call so he decided to cause just a little bit of mischief. It never hurt once in a while did it? After all he Is the God of Mischief, Loki.
He Grinned as he slowly walked closer just far enough to hear and see the child. He decided to create a small illusion in the bushes right before the small child. It was of a Wolf peeking out just barely of the bush growling, or you could say ‘hunting’ the child. The reaction he got was an extremely high pitched scream then it started to cry.
He made the illusion disappear, just as soon as it even appeared. He let out a small snicker. Mentally congratulating himself for his daily deeds. He walked off satisfied, getting in his laugh for the day. human children always amused him with their antics.
He wasn’t the God of Mischief for nothing, was he? Even if he wasn’t well known and it was said that he disappeared when Thor died doesn’t mean he isn’t still the God of Mischief. He had a role to play, and oh he would play it properly.
Soon enough he was walking straight out of the park using the other entrance to The Ranto Park. He made his way down the sidewalk off the street, pacing himself along the way. His thoughts started dragging him back to the green kid he saw today.
Thinking more into it, His eyes reminded him of Thor, Not that they were the same color they both had that same determined look in their eyes, and it shone brightly behind everything else in their eyes. It was like a never dying fire that was always laced in everything else their eyes held.
Even if it had been centuries since he passed since His Death. He could never forget the scene, the way Thor.. His brother looked at him in his final moments. It always played vividly in the back of his mind.
—
Loki had just arrived back into Asgard after he heard the state Thor was in when he arrived. When he got there there was a huge crowd of Asgardians. And he was in the complete back of it. He looked past the crowd to where his brother laid raggedly on the ground bleeding out. He mentally cursed at that.
He had just noticed that the healers had somehow been completely useless to help him which got him more anxious and worried more. He looked for his brother's face trying to catch his gaze and when he did he noticed the look laced in his eyes. It showed sorrow, disappointment and an understanding.
He Made his way to the front as quick as he could, He’d realized that his brother hadn’t seen him in the crowd because of the way when he arrived at the front and Thor looked up to him from where he laid, Loki's eyes making contact with his.
Loki had Noticed how Thors gaze softened and as he slightly brightened up once seeing him which made his heart ache in a way twisting his guts. To see him in such a state still able to brighten up as his presence always had a special place in his heart.
Yet he desperately wanted to be right at his brother's side helping him, longing to do something for god's sake! But he just stood there frozen. It had felt like his breath had been stolen from right from him all in one go. When he sucked in a breath.
He watched as Thor staggered to get up with the help of Mjolnir acting as a cane in a way. The way some of Thor's final words just rolled off his tongue while grasping for a breath in between words oh so desperately. As if he was holding onto a cord between life or death to which he was
He intently listened to what he said but he never realized his vision was starting to blur from wet tears. that quietly rolled down his face. The rest felt like a dream, a blur. He hated this with everything he had as he stood there helplessly and unmoving.
There were some words that got his full attention when Thor Whispered words for him and him alone to hear. Thor had whispered to him,
“Till the Thunder strikes again.. Brother.” He smirked over to him before tightening his grip on the Mjolnir and using all his remaining strength to throw it all the way to Earth.
Then Thor Began to crumble to the ground after he threw it, losing all his entail strength he had left. Then suddenly his body seemed to work again when he rushed over to catch Thor without even thinking. 'To be by his side' he thought.
He held tightly onto Thor, the way his brother looked at him for one final time with a genuine smile his eyes still shined brightly with that determination he could never forget. Soon Thor took his final breath and went limp in his arms. His grip tightening at that.
Loki at that moment had felt so many overwhelming emotions. He had one thing in his mind. HisBrother. No matter how many times he’s tried to kill him, hurt him or even then they’ve always been brothers deep down.
He Slowly had become closer with Thor over the years, their brothernship never being the most stable but it was always good enough for the both of them. And Today was the last day he’d get to ever build a good relationship with him. He stayed silent with Thor in his arms for the longest time, oblivious to the crowd at that moment. Purposefully ignoring them.
The last words he heard from his brother continuously ringed in his head as a reminder.
‘Till the thunder strikes again... Brother’
It played in his head on loop, over and over again. It was like a constant ringing. He Refused to let his brother's legacy die like that.
He mentally made a vow to himself that he would not let Thor down on his final wishes and he’ll be there when the new god of thunder emerges he'd be the one to teach them everything. He was careful to place his brother down staggering to get up.
Asgard's people.. No His peoplewatched as he slowly got up, whipping his face. He won’t fail them as he failed his brother. He’d make sure of it. He looked on over to the crowd keeping his head high. Eras come and go as they say.
—
Loki could never forget that day, it's not like he wanted to forget either way. He remembered everything so vividly even after all these years. The scene always was with him in the back of mind as if it was haunting him.
He was still walking down the sidewalk when he found himself realizing he had no idea where he was heading to and halted to a stop in the middle of the sidewalk. He took a moment to look at his surroundings to take in where he is.
Loki had just stood there for a good minute before realizing how far a distance he made between the park and where he was now. He just shrugged at it before glancing at the unfamiliar streets for a final time and teleporting away.
