Chapter 5

༻☆✫☆༺

It was literally chaos when you'd arrived about fifteen minutes after you left visions academy, it would have been a lot faster if you had just jumped form rooftop to rooftop but you'd very like for all your bones to be intact before engaging in a fight that was supposed to paint you in a better light towards civilians.

You really had to work on your tardiness seeing as there was a possibility multiple innocent civilians could be dead before you'd even arrive at the scene. You were a superhero, not a horror movie police officer.

You ducked behind a vacant police car, as you scanned the happenings before you, at least ten police officer standing around the jewelry shop, guns at the ready and on guard, waiting for Spiderman who was inside fighting them to make their jobs easier. Getting past them wouldn't be easy, they didn't trust you yet. They'd think you being there would make everything ten times worse, they'd probably even try to arrest you. You wouldn't blame them, you didn't have a completely flawless track record of being a hero.

You whipped out your little device and let it scan for a way to get into the jewelry store without being spotted, Spiderman was doing fine on his own it seemed. You might not even need to be there. The device was still scanning the area, and you were still caught in a trance-like train of thought when you heard the sound of glass breaking. Turning your attention back to the store, you saw that it was Spiderman being thrown through a glass display window that caused the wreckage. You wondered what sort of strength would make Spiderman fly like that. Insanely strong weapons? Mutants? Were you about to deal with mutants here?

A police officer with the largest shoulders you had ever seen ran up to him and helped spiderman stand. You were unable to hear what they say to each other but you guessed spiderman told him to tell the other police to stand back and not interfere by how the Big Shoulders stepped back and spiderman swung back into the shop like he hadn't  almost been blasted halfway across the street by an unseen force.

Your device beeped, there was an entrance at the side of the building with no police men as there was no way for the criminals to escape from there, there was just a brick wall.

You'd have to be smart, your main aim was to save people and redeem yourself in public eye right? If you burst through that wall, destroying property and possibly hurting someone since you had almost no control over your own superpower, would that really do the trick? It was either get arrested or accidentally kill somebody. The right option was obvious, but why did you spend and extra thirty seconds mulling over your choices?

Being arrested meant your cover was broken, it meant past records of your life being dug up for more experiments, it meant a lifetime of a lab rat once more.

It was when you heard a scream, the scream of a little girl that you decided that the police weren't shit.

You ran out your hiding place at top speed and shoved a random policeman who reacted way too quickly and tried to point a gun at you out the way.

"Out of my way!" You said behind clenched teeth. Ain't no way were they hurting kids in there

"Hey! Stop there!" Big Shoulders yelled behind you but you were already at the shop at this point.

Four masked criminals with small bags probably full of expensive jewelry, about eleven innocent people huddled in a corner for safety, the place completely trashed and Spiderman held up against the throat by one of the criminals up against the wall, the balls of his feet barely touching the ground. You blinked, what shocked you, was that the guys hold Spiderman like he weighed nothing was built like a twig. You couldn't see his face, but you could swear he was a teenager just like you.

"Midnight!" Spiderman laughed like it was all just a friendly meeting between old friends, although it sounded more like a gasp. "I knew you'd show up!"

"Oh good, she's here. Now we can kill two birds with one stone." One of the criminals said, she sounded feminine although nowadays one can be fooled.

"Hopefully you don't mean that literally." Spiderman wheezed. "Listen, Midnight these people are super strong you have to run–ah!" Spiderman barely got to finish his sentence before he was thrown halfway across the stone and landing somewhere pretty far off, and judging by the thud it seemed like he won't be back for a while.

You were a bit glad Twig threw him away, you didn't like being told what to do very much. And running wasn't your style. They were strong, but that didn't mean they were stronger than you...no one was.

"So here's how it's gonna go." You said, dropping to a stance you had seen on YouTube. "You're gonna drop whatever it is that you stole, and you're gonna hand yourselves over to the police. Or else..."

"Or else what?" Female said.

You decided to let your knuckles do the talking, you ran towards her and gave her a punch that sent her into a wall, leaving crack marks behind and proceeded to round house kick another criminal. You grabbed Twig by the throat and threw him outside another window shattering it and proceeded kick another by the stomach who then crashed into another. You hoped a civilian was taking a video right now because you were convinced you looked badass.

You decided that it was time to check on Spiderman to see if he was still alive when you felt yourself get punched...hard.

You crashed into a glass display.

Never in your life, had you ever experienced someone inflict that amount of damage on you.

Female walked up to you slowly, flexing her knuckles like you hadn't just punched her into a wall moments prior. "You're strong, but you're movents are really sloppy. You're inexperienced in combat, aren't you? Probably thought that someone as strong as you didn't need stuff like martial arts training, hm?"

You groaned as you struggled to your feet, so this was what Spiderman meant by strong. "What? You've been eating steroids since you were born?"

"Funny you should say that, i–" she caught your punch like it was nothing when you tried for a surprise attack. And you felt her almost crush you fist. "I think you'd know a lot about that." Then she gave you something you were sure was an uppercut. Whatever it was, it really knocked the wind out of you. You barely got a moment to breathe when she was on top of you, with a syringe with a glowing green substance aimed for your neck.

"Good bye, (Name)." The sound of your name nearly brought you out of your concussion. How did she– "I sure wish we could have chatted longer, but we have to do what they say."

"W–who are you?" You croaked. "What are you?"

Female tilted her head, her irises through her mask were abnormally big and dark, like how you'd think an alien's eyes would look. Almost no cornea.

She lifted the syringe even higher and was just about to bring it down to your neck, before she was blasted off you...by electricity. The syringe landed and burst right the beside her revealing the glowing liquid that realized small wisps of smoke. Spiderman then made himself visible and crutched beside you helping you sit up.

"Hey, you okay?"

"No...but thanks. I– behind you!"

Before you even finished your warning Spiderman had already dodged a pinch from another super strong bad guy, then went invisible and started webbing him up while others grabbed a still unconscious Female and began their getaway.

"No!" You yelled and ran after them while clutching your head. "Get back here!"

They ran into the bathroom and you wasted no time getting there right after only to find that there wasn't anyone there. Which didn't make sense, the window was to small for an escape. Plus the police would catch them if they went out.

You collapsed on the floor. What just happened?
