introduction

Alright, let’s do this one last time…

You would tell everyone at the Spider Society the same story. That you were (surprise, surprise) bitten by a radioactive spider from your father’s lab, and for the past three years you had been your dimension’s one and only: spider-girl.

"I’ve saved the city a bunch of times. Starred in the cover of my favorite magazine. Became a spokesperson for one of my city's sports teams. Created a fan account for myself as a joke. Had to apologize for making said account…"

The list went on and on, but you always decided to leave out your sob stories. Your “canon events”, if you will. Everyone else in the society had probably heard the exact same spiel about a million times, and you had decided not to bore them with yet another anecdote about a tragic passing of a relative or the devastation that happened to your universe’s police officer.

Being a spider-person was the best thing you could ever ask for. You had just wished that you didn’t have to sacrifice everything for it. You felt as if all your relationships had gone to shit ever since you were bitten by that spider at fourteen. Your father, your brother, MJ…

The boy you had once loved.

You loved headquarters. Whenever you weren’t fighting crime around your city or chasing anomalies, you spent most of your time hanging out with your small friend group with other spider-teens your age.

The worst part about that small friend group, you may ask? You had to see him every day during patrol.

Seeing his beautiful face has always filled you with anger. You hated the way he would say things similar to the boy you had once known. His enthusiasm, his quick-wittedness, all of his traits matched up to the one that had you tied to a string.

It didn’t help that he joined the society just two weeks after you had lost the one you once knew.

You refused to talk to him alone. You couldn’t. You felt like you were being lied to.

If you knew one thing for sure, it was that you hated Pavitr Prabhakar with a passion.
