Chapter 9: Mutant Rights
Tony was in the lab.
"Jarvis, how are things?" Tony asked.
"Things are good, sir. The footage of the conversation between you and Director Fury is everywhere, and the public has started a movement demanding the director's arrest and resignation. The president has already issued an apology and released a statement, announcing his resignation due to the incident," Jarvis said.
"Wow, it's a good thing we recorded the conversation. I knew it was a trap. Fury wanted to arrest me, and if he did, there was proof I was Iron Man," Tony said.
"Indeed, sir. However, now the public is celebrating you. Mutants worldwide are gaining their rights and rejoicing. People are calling you a hero and a champion of mutant rights," Jarvis replied.
"I guess that means I'm a hero like Nelson Mandela or Gandhi now. Good job, Jarvis," Tony praised.
"Thank you, sir. By the way, the new president, Emma Frost, would like to meet with you," Jarvis said.
"Emma? She's a mutant, but isn't she affiliated with the Hellfire Club my father was part of? Give me a breakdown on her, Jarvis," Tony requested.
"She is a former member of the Hellfire Club. She has helped usher in the era of mutant rights, and the mutant population is now at 2% and rising. She possesses an x-gene, which grants her telepathic abilities and an unbreakable diamond form. She is an ally who has supported mutants and is also the owner of Frost International," Jarvis explained.
"Okay, does she have any unsavory history? We can't allow a bad past to undermine what we've achieved. Fury and other mutant-hating organizations would jump at the chance to destroy everything we've built," Tony inquired.
"No, right now, she's innocent unless she somehow cleaned her record. I can't find anything, and I am a sentient artificial intelligence. I can hack into any computer in the world. I have searched through every database on the planet, and her records are clear," Jarvis assured.
"I see. Let her in; we shall meet," Tony decided.
"Of course, sir," Jarvis said as a holographic version of a woman with platinum blond hair and ice blue eyes appeared.
"Hello, Mr. Stark. I was hoping to meet the man who catalyzed mutant rights. Do not worry; I can assure you that the racist S.H.I.E.L.D will be dissolved, and the group known as the Avengers, a collection of racist enhanced and normal humans, will be under heavy scrutiny. If the human members harm a mutant, they will be executed on the spot," Emma Frost stated.
"I see. Well, we have a long future ahead of us. I'm guessing you're coming here?" Tony asked.
"Yes, as an ally and a friend. I will be arriving soon, and I hope to work with you to better our kind," Emma Frost replied.
"Great, I will see you soon. Oh, and if you are wondering about my x-gene, I have the power to control and manipulate technology to create a highly advanced suit of armor around myself, among other technological powers," Tony responded.
"That's nice. My power allows me to transform into diamond and grants me telepathic abilities," Emma Frost commented.
"Nice," Tony said.
"It's been a pleasure, Mr. Stark. Perhaps we can get together for dinner sometime," Emma Frost suggested.
"Yes, we should," Tony agreed.
"Goodbye," Emma Frost said as she signed off.
"Jarvis, schedule a meeting with her; we need to discuss how to handle the Avengers and S.H.I.E.L.D., as well as how to deal with the rest of the world," Tony instructed.
"Of course, sir. Shall I schedule a press conference so the people can hear the news?" Jarvis suggested.
"Anyways, how has mutant rights progressed? Break it down," Tony asked.
"All over the world, mutants are free to go out in the open without fear. The UN has issued a global pact making discrimination illegal and is now focusing on creating a school and an agency for mutants," Jarvis reported.
"Excellent, I'm glad. It seems all our hard work and sacrifices were not in vain," Tony replied.
"Indeed, sir," Jarvis said.
"Well, we have a lot more work to do," Tony said.
"Of course, sir," Jarvis replied. "But S.H.I.E.L.D and the Avengers aren't going to take this lying down. I've heard chatter on their servers that they are going underground, and the Avengers will start crossing borders illegally and commit acts of vigilanteism. I have sent you the data," Jarvis said as Tony began to read the information.
"They can't be trusted," Tony said.
"WAIT A MINUTE! It all makes sense now. Steve Rogers got his powers from Doctor Abraham Erskine, a Nazi scientist. His girlfriend Peggy Carter somehow managed to get a Hydra lead scientist in her organization, S.H.I.E.L.D, as a lead scientist who rebuilt under her, and then her boyfriend was found by Russian oil expeditions funded by her organization. Steve Rogers also teams up with people with ties to Neo-Nazis or people who have Neo-Nazi-like tendencies. After all, how is S.H.I.E.L.D advocating to eliminate all mutants any different from Hitler wanting to exterminate the Jews?
Think about it. Natasha Romanoff is a mutant hater and was raised in the Red Room, which she willingly served for years before defecting. The Red Room has ties to HYDRA based on your reports. Clint Barton also despises mutants and is part of S.H.I.E.L.D, which has HYDRA within it, and he does not object to the HYDRA-like methods S.H.I.E.L.D employs, nor does he disagree with mutants being targeted and harmed by said organization.
Bruce Banner left the Avengers and went to some remote part of the world. He was never part of S.H.I.E.L.D, and even then, he was treated like a ticking time bomb or a beast. Thor is not from here and only comes to Earth for Jane. We know the type of person James Rhodes is – someone who does not value human life as long as he can profit. He doesn't care who gets hurt; that's why he tried to convince me to forget the deaths I witnessed caused by my weapons and carry on making them. Moreover, his deep-seated hatred for mutants and desire for their demise is well-known. As for the new member they're going to recruit for the Falcon wings, Sam Wilson is a despicable man. He slept with his best friend Riley's girlfriend and has killed thousands of mutants," Tony exclaimed.
Jarvis replied, "Correct. However, they will not be able to touch us. We are too strong, and the government is now on our side, with the people supporting us. It will be fine, sir.".
"You're right," Tony said.
"You are welcome, sir," Jarvis replied.
