Bucky had awakened from his sleep in the cryogenic chamber. The kind lady Shuri had done it; she had removed Hydra's trigger words, and he felt lighter. He was no longer the Winter Soldier, and he didn't want to hurt anyone.
When he first awoke, he found himself in a small hut. T'Challa's sister, Shuri, was there and started to tell him the truth about Steve. Bucky couldn't believe his best friend was working alongside Nazis or Nazi-like people. For example, Natasha Romanoff and Clint Barton had no problem working with S.H.I.E.L.D., which was like Hydra. Bucky didn't get mind-fucked just so Steve Rogers could become what he despised the most, a neo-Nazi. Bucky couldn't believe Steve worked with criminals like Sam Wilson, who stole experimental tech from the United States, and Scott Lang, who was a convicted criminal stealing money from the rich—money the people earned. But what was worse was Scarlet Witch, Wanda Maximoff. Bucky couldn't believe Steve thought he would work with someone who could manipulate minds, who had manipulated the minds of Steve's own teammates, Stark, Banner, and Thor.
Bucky was thankful to the gods that Odin, the father of Thor and king of Asgard, didn't declare war on humanity because the witch had mind-controlled his son. What was she thinking? Shuri even told him how Steve and Barton spoiled the girl, acting like she did no wrong. So her parents died to a Stark bomb. Who cares? They were collateral damage of war. Weren't all the victims during Lagos collateral damage of her failures? She was not only a Nazi, but she was a hypocrite too.
Bucky made his way to Steve's room. He didn't like it, but he had to stay with Team Cap, or else they might come charging like hyenas and cause unnecessary deaths.
"Buck, I see you are awake and well," said Steve.
"Yes, I am," Bucky said, lying as he walked and sat far away. He would have to hold his tongue; he didn't want Steve to think that T'Challa and the other kind Wakandans did something to his head. Steve would definitely cause more bloodshed, and that was the last thing Bucky wanted.
"I can't believe Stark did this to you," Steve said as he walked towards the bar.
"He didn't, Steve. It was your fault you hid the fact I killed his parents," Bucky said.
"Buck, how could you say that? I had a reason to keep that secret," Steve replied.
"What reason could you possibly have, Steve? You hid that from Stark, knowing the kind of person he was. What was it for? To protect me? I can take care of myself," Bucky replied.
"I knew you could, Buck, and you are right. I kept it from him so he could trust you, and he wouldn't try and kill you. You didn't do it willingly, and if I had told him, you would have been dead, and I would have lost my best friend, my brother," Steve said.
"Whatever, Steve, I'm gonna go to my hut if you're gonna be insensitive to your victim. If you're gonna use my name to defend your hatred towards Stark because he ain't his father. He isn't Howard Stark, your friend," Bucky said.
"How dare you say that. I am Captain America; I won't hate for such a petty reason. You haven't seen his past. You haven't seen what he has done and who his weapons have killed. Wanda is one of his victims; his bombs killed her parents," Steve raged out.
"I'm sorry, how is what Tony did different from what Howard did?" Bucky asked.
"Howard never meant for the bomb to hit civilians," Steve said.
"Howard knew exactly where his weapon would hit, and yet he still chose to hit his target. It is the same as Tony. Tony didn't know his weapons were sold to terrorists. Howard did. It was a direct attack on civilians by both, and both have blood on their hands. And the fact that you are defending the Nazi is disgusting," Bucky replied as he made his way out.
"Wait, what? Who told you Wanda was Hydra? Listen, Buck, she's a kid. She made mistakes," Steve said, but Bucky ignored him.
Steve made his way to the rest of the team, looking downcast.
"Hey, Cap, why are you so down? I thought you were meeting your best friend," said Sam.
"Yeah, man, what happened?" asked Scott.
"He's fine, just being stubborn," Steve replied.
"Well, maybe you should try talking to him," said Scott.
"Yeah, man, give it another chance," said Sam.
"Someone told him Wanda was Hydra, and Bucky hates Nazis. You know, since he was a prisoner of war for 70 years by Nazis," Steve replied.
"What? Wanda? Sweet, did you tell him she was Stark's victim and that she was a kid?" said Clint.
"Yeah, and I don't know what's gotten into him. Maybe he just needs some time," said Steve.
"Maybe the Black Panther brainwashed him into it remember he still sides with the accords," said Sam.
"What do you mean, Sam?" Steve asked.
"Well, you heard the king; he has vibranium. Who knows, maybe they are using their tech on Bucky. Maybe Bucky is still the Winter Soldier," Sam replied.
"Yeah, I can ask Wanda to look into his head and fix him," said Clint.
"Yeah, man. She'll do it for free," Scott replied.
"Thanks, guys, you are the best," Steve said.
A few hours later, Clint was in Wanda's room.
"Do you want me to fix his mind?" she asked.
"Yeah, he hates you, and we can't have that. Steve won't ever give him up," Clint said.
"If he isn't being mind-controlled, I will make him like me," she said.
"You can do that?" Clint asked.
"Yeah, it's not hard," she replied.
"I would prefer he was brainwashed that way we can use him to control Steve, but either way would be fine," Clint said.
"No worries; I will do my best," Wanda replied.
"Great, now we wait," said Clint.
The next day, Wanda had sneaked into the room Bucky was in. She had red mist in her hands and put the red mist in his mouth. It was the easiest way to infiltrate his mind and make him hers. But what she did not know was that Bucky had gained mental defenses. All the years of mental torture to create the Winter Soldier and the mental trauma he had to endure to remove the trigger words had developed mental barriers in his brain. The red mist would not work on him.
As soon as Bucky noticed her red mist, he knew she was using powers on him. So, when he learned it didn't work, he rushed at her, throwing a punch and shattering her ribs.
"YOU HYDRA BITCH!" Bucky shouted.
"You tried to enter my mind. Do you think the Winter Soldier wouldn't notice? Do you think I wouldn't notice?" he yelled as he stomped on her knee. He then punched her in the face,
breaking her jaw.
"I don't know what the hell is wrong with you, but you need to die," he said.
Wanda was scared for the first time. She had never experienced fear, and for the first time, it had finally dawned on her the kind of power she was wielding. She knew she would die; she couldn't heal herself. So, she would have to make him join her. She would have to kill him.
As he punched her again, she used her powers on him. It did not work.
"I see you are trying those tricks on me. It won't work; you see, You can't use your powers against me. I am immune to your mental manipulation," Bucky said as he punched her again.
"What do you mean?" she said.
"When Shuri removed her triggers," Bucky replied as he broke her other rib and knee."Killing the Winter Soldier, but also the ability to mentally manipulate. In other words, your Mental Manipulation powers won't work on me either because, Bitch, I have developed some form of mental resistance," he said.
"Now it is time for you to die," he said.
"NO!" she screamed. Bucky grabbed her by the neck, choking her life out. He stared at her dead body and decided that Steve wasn't the Stevie he knew. This new Steve, Captain America, was no hero. He would kill them. He would rid the world of them if they were willing to add a Hydra agent who had no remorse. He would make sure they never harm anyone ever again.
He made his way to the living room. He would kill them. He rushed into Team Cap's room with a Rifle gun and opened fire.
"Bucky, what are you doing?" Steve asked.
"You are all a bunch of monsters. You are all Hydra. You are not my family," Bucky said as he shot Sam in the stomach and then shot him in the head.
"Buck, stop, please," Steve pleaded.
"No," Bucky said as he sprayed bullets inside Clint aiming for the neck and then Scott in the head.
"Bucky, I know you are angry, but you have to stop please," Steve said.
"No, I have to stop you," he said as he shot Steve in the leg and then shot him in the stomach.
"Bucky, please stop," Steve begged.
"No, you have to die," Bucky said.
"I'm sorry, Stevie," Bucky said as he shot Steve in the heart and killed him.
Bucky looked around the room.
"Captain America wasn't the Steve I knew. The Steve I knew would never have let such vile, disgusting, evil villains fight alongside him," he said.
Bucky walked into the bathroom and saw the shower running and the door open.
"Bucky, is that you?" Natasha said as she put down her gun thinking he was friendly but Bucky aimed his gun at her and shot her six times in the chest, killing her.
"A traitor and a Hydra agent would never be my family," Bucky said as he fired some more at Steve's team, confirming they were dead and not faking it.
T'Challa came in and sighed, gesturing toward his people to clean up and dispose of the dead bodies.
"Shuri told you, didn't she? I am sorry; Captain America told me to keep his team's past a secret from you for your safety. I guess I, too, fell for the Captain America legend. I didn't know i thought anyone who wielded vibranium was good," T'Challa said.
"Thank you for giving me the chance to be rid of these monsters," Bucky replied.
"Anytime, and again, I am sorry for hunting you down when I thought you killed my father," T'Challa said.
"No worries. I forgive you. Emotions were running high, just like when Stark hunted me down, but I don't want to hide or run anymore. I am going to give myself in. Can you make it so I get a fair trial, at least?" Bucky asked.
"Yes, of course. We can arrange it. The world deserves the truth," T'Challa replied.
"Thank you," Bucky said.
"No, thank you for saving my country from those vile creatures," T'Challa replied.
"They will never harm anyone else," Bucky said.
"I will go inform the world of what happened and make sure you are safe. My country will support you," T'Challa said.
